All while being one of the smallest teams in 2A and going through 5 head coaches, this being the 5th. Also we had a 3rd round exit to East Lincoln that you’re forgetting.

FYI everyone, Thomasville went through a huge transition losing hall of fame legend Coach Allen Brown in 2013. Though the next 7 years might have been somewhat off, be careful because this year's coaching staff has a lot of Allen Brown assistants back on the sidelines -- including Roger Bryant who has forgotten more football than many know today!

Might want to stop in Boone to eat. More restaurants. If you like Mexican Los Archos in Pineola is good. Not out of the way. 300 Jonas Ridge Hwy Newland NC
Plenty of good eating in Spruce Pine, if you come down 40 thru Marion lots of good places to eat I think in Boone you have to wear a mask while you eat or they write you a ticket lol

Good stuff

I remember passing the Western Sizzlin last night. The last time I ate at one of those was back in the 80s when Bryson City had one.
Its honestly probably the best western sizz left, I've been butthurt at them cause the free drink ain't on the card this year. I ate there last Sunday though First time in several months, it was GREAT

If you tell them you have the card they will honor the free drink. At least that’s what I was told, I am a water drinker. They were supposed to be on the card.

Go Mountaineers

I wasn’t comparing the grand emergence of Mitchell over the last decade. Just staying Tville even the last decade never bottom of the barrel. Go back 40 years and compare -

Played the last four years with 600 kids in the school against five schools with 1000 kids. 8-4 and playoffs last couple of seasons. These kids have beaten much bigger, stronger and faster teams that are now 3A including North Davidson so anyone in 1A will not intimidate or scare the Bulldogs. Only got 8 state titles overall and hall of fame numbers from former coach Allen Brown. Coach G will bring title #9 home soon. Think I am talking it up now, wait until you see the class of kids coming up from the middle school. Bigger, faster and stronger than the current 11/12 class was coming in.

I don't really think anyone thinks that Thomasville is or should be intimidated by Mitchell. And I for one I'm old enough to remember when we all were 3A and I remember those days of Thomasville a powerhouse. Actually from most of the comments on this thread, I mean threads I'm getting confused which one I'm on lol, it's been sounding like Mitchell is the ones who should be intimidated. Now Thomasville might come here Friday and over power Mitchell with their speed and spread offense but they have heard that before other times like last year when 3A Statesville came up and Mitchell has played larger teams as well including two 4A's this year and a 3A.
I don't believe they're cocky I'm sure they know this game is a big challenge but they should have belief and confidence in themselves or it already over and I while I've said I don't know what the outcome will be I certainly don't know that Thomasville isn't beatable for Mitchell , I don't have access to film like people seem to have on here unless their games were streamed , I did see the short video they have on MaxPreps of the East Davison game of their scores and I will say Thomasville D line at least in that footage had some bad technique issues coming straight out of their stance and getting knocked off the ball by a smaller looking line so they better do better that against Mitchell's line.
But the QB and that big back does look good , so like I mentioned before Mitchell best bet is to eat up the clock and keep the offense off the field but I don't I assume coach Pittman is watching film and making a better game plan then I ever could.
But as far as Thomasville being the David vs Goliath in 2A well now their Goliath because their the second largest school in 1A.

Post Covid numbers are far below what the ADM for realignment stated. Excited to see two great programs playing for a fourth round slot. Now there are eight and soon there will be four in the West. Looking forward to the ride up and game in the good ole' mountains. Spend time up that way every year. Old Lees-McRae and App State guy so love some cold mountain air.

You'd still have to drop pretty far to not be bigger then us schools below 500 the smallest left is Robbinsville below 400.
It's amazing though when I was in high school Mitchell, Thomasville and serval others who have dropped to 1A & 2A were all 3A .
Safe travels.

Where is the population of the County? More to the south toward Spruce Pine? If yes, why is the high school located in the center of the county and not closer to the population? Thanks.
