ST Pauls@ Whiteville

Whiteville throws the ball when they want to. Why throw when you run close to 400 yards a game. Their defense puts them in position to do what ever they want to do. They will throw when you don't expect them to. I have seen them run on 4th and long and score a td. I have seen them throw on 2nd and short for a td. You never know what you are going to get. That is what makes them dangerous. I know SP has a good team or they would not be where they are, but they are going to face a different animal. I also think we are probably facing the best 2a team we have seen. So we will just set back and see 2 really good teams go at it until the game is over and wish the better team the best of luck the rest of the way. Hope and believe it will be the WOLFPACK. lol.
2 questions in your opinion
1. Do you expect whiteville to win the championship this yr?
2. Is this the best whiteville team ever?

I think they have a good chance but who knows. The best i have seen since the Chester days with the 87 championship game Without a doubt, especially on defense IMO. I'am not saying they are better than anyone else left in the playoffs, but it is going to take a mighty good team to beat them.

If this team is as good as the team w lennon, colson, hewitt, mcglocklin, shaw, tedder, reaves.. and so on. Weren't they all d1? If yal in that class, then yal rep the east imo

Yes they were all D1. This years team don't have all the big names as those teams did, but they all play for one another. I don't think i have ever seen a closer team that works as hard as they do. They call each other family and promise to have each others back no matter what. No fussing or fighting, just love for one another. I don't know about you or the other posters, but that is what i call a football team win or lose.

That's definitely rare in this day and age. Good luck!

So it's best if St. Pauls doesn't turn up at all tomorrow night?
No i didn't say that. I said they have a chance just like all the teams left. All i said was how close they are and that they play for each other and not for their self. Read the post again. Now if your team isn't like that you are in trouble.

Against a good defense, definitely won't run for 400 yards lol gotta throw to keep honest. But hope Whiteville thinks they can just run the ball..... st p rb will grind the clock, hopefully Whiteville can stop the bulldozer

Whiteville appears to be in the fourth round, while St Pauls is playing B-ball, according to Woody, Barney, and Locus.

I will never say anything bad about your team because i like them, but they better bring their A game or it will be a long night for them. Like i said they are a very good team or they wouldn't be here. That is all i have to say about that game.

Everyone gotta bring a game to win this Friday. Serious battles throughout the state

My question from the other day is how did RR score 36 points on your defense? There will lie the reason you will have trouble tomorrow night. If yall can have some long time consuming drives and score TD's keep the ball for 8 or 10 minutes at the time........that would be my game plan.

Yo Bro Bro. Are you speaking of Roanoke Rapids, with the 7-5 record?
My question for tonight is how did Socastee score 24 points on your defense with a 2-6 record? There will lie the reason you will have trouble tomorrow night. I'm sure St Pauls has studied this particular game over and over and over and over..

You shouldn't pick on the Big opponents, but rather mirror the same competition. For example, the 2-6 record team we played is called Union Pines and we left that game early with a 48-6 win and a couple cheeseburgers.

You've got some homework to do prior to the game bro bro......

Every team seems to have that wtf game during the season. Ours up here at NE was against an average Currituck County team where they almost beat us. It happens to the best teams all the time. Hope you guys will keep the score updated on here

Strick asked earlier why Whiteville would pass when they’re rushing for over 400 yards a game. Well, I can answer that, Strick. In 1998 South Columbus rushed for over 800 yards in the first round of the playoffs, at that time it was the record for the most rushing yards in a single game ever by an American high school football team. In the 2nd round it was Reidsville that rolled into town with their throwing attack, but they also stacked the line and after South scored on it’s opening possession they were pretty much shut down the rest of the game as far as running the football. Tried to throw some but had not really passed all year and it was futile. South had only given up about 33 points all year and lost 35-7. Never hurts to work on that passing game because you never know when someone has a great game plan that could effectively shut down your running game. I’ve seen it many more times than once!!

Stallion, who were you playing for that many yard?

Eastcoast, I don’t remember to be honest, they weren’t very good. I think a team in California broke that record a couple years later. Been broken several times since

FYI: Whiteville is 10 and 7 all-time vs St. Pauls
St. Pauls dominated the early years winning 6 of the first 8 games (from 1992 - 2003). Since it has been all Whiteville as they have one eight of nine with St. Pauls only win coming last spring (from 2004-2021). What does that mean for tonight. Nothing the better team will win.

I just looked it up and it was 745 rushing against Eastern Guilford. It’s 11th all time now in the US. But, like I was sayI got, got shut down the next week. Never hurts to be able to throw the ball

Regarding the passing v running, its so rare for an above average passer to come through the ranks in our conference, there are notable exceptions like Ty Moss from Whiteville who is now listed as a safety at ECU and is probably the overall career passing leader but buck71 may know more about that. Easier to find the athlete that can run and throw ok. If you can run at a high level you will win a lot of games and you combine that with a stout D you can win even more. Of course the Reidsvilles and Shelbys have been able to do both which have translated into a lot of SCships.

All that being said, Loveboat, I still got Whiteville by 4 td’s tonight without throwing a pass. Bulldogs are good but they struggled in the 2nd round, doesn’t sound good
