This weekend at Powerade 7 on 7
Shelby finished 5 place out of 32 teams.
Lost to Mallard Creek in Ot 36-34..
Looks like another special yr, they beat some great schools along the way.,
I did see live footage of them beating 2aa Champ Monroe 49-4.
Go lions

Man, they took the field and totally destroyed Monroe, after Monroe talked trash to them in the pregame. They also hammered Khalan Laborn and Bishop Sullivan

Shelby has looked great all summer in 7 on 7 competition, beating heavy weights from Charlotte and South Carolina.

I know one cc team that the creek did not beat in 7 on 7 ....:).....5th out of 32 is a great showing . Congrats to the lions .

Lion Attack, I agree, buddy of mine that is a coach for Erwin talked about how good again we are.
Yesterday i was texting back and forth with coach Ware, he likes where we are, says he couldnt have ask for anymore out of the boys.
Going be a great year!

Tough non conference schedule for the young men in black and gold. Good teams early but really the only early threat is South Point. This years Freedom and AC Reynolds will not be a threat.

I'm not sure Shelby can put up the crazy big numbers they did last year but defensively they will be even better. There will be a lot of blowouts.

I watched Shelby at the Erwin 7 on 7 and they looked good. They went 5-0 on the day as well as Erwin. The two teams did not play each other. I was curious though, do you think the Lions will be small or big 2A this season? I know it is way early but a lot of teams do not move around much.

Small from what I've heard.

From what I have seen and heard, Shelby will be very tough again this year.
Things could change between now and opening game, but if not I see this
being a 20+ Shelby advantage.

First game jitters so you never know.

Shelby Nissan gave Coach Ware a truck to drive to advertise for them and the High School.
Its pretty cool, not to mention a nice azz truck

Anyone know the Cleveland Co jamboree schedule yet or where it's being held? I haven't heard much about it.

I was riding through Shelby's main drag Friday (the one that goes right past the impressive looking campus) and I can't imagine that being a 2-A size city. And small 2-A??
Maybe that's the only street in the city???

Probably because there are alot of students that live in the city limits but outside the school district that go to Crest and Burns, the bigger schools. I'm guessing because every county has that city limits/school district confusion. Rockingham is a tiny town less than half the size of Shelby but Richmond County plays 4AA.

There are only about fifteen city systems left. Two are in Davidson County. One is in Randolph. So not many counties have city systems any more.

Right. Also there is only one high school in Richmond County. I think eventually the city school systems will be no more, in order to save costs.

The question is whether merger would save money. The assumption usually is that there are savings. And that may be on the expense side, though maybe not as much as one would guess. The problem is on the revenue side. Many city systems receive significant funding based on the percentage of low income families (free and reduced lunch). When systems merge, the percentage is diluted enough to make federal funding unavailable. That's certainly the case in Davidson County. In our county, that's millions of dollars per year.
Depending upon the catalyst for consolidation, a merged system may be required to fund all county students at the rate of the highest per pupil funded system. Lexington, in our case. That's several million more dollars. Just not happening in Davidson.

City of roughly 21,000 people....

You were on highway 74 which is the busiest thoroughfare through our city..... Chopper said it right, a lot of folks living in the "Shelby city limits" however some of those attend Burns and or Crest.....

Not sure if it is still the case but Holly oak residents (Which is about a mile through the woods behind the baseball stadium) used to pass Shelby and attend Crest... On lenior drive on the north side of town some of those kids went to Burns.... Not sure if that still happens, but used to be like that.... and all of these were closer to Shelby than either of the other schools

Is Shelby loaded this year again? Why can't u guys schedule some 4A teams in Charlotte?

And, you know this how, because of that one Mallard Creek poster saying so? Imo, Shelby and Crest could have beaten them last year, gave them all they wanted. They weren't all that when I watched them, and they had close games versus other teams who weren't all that. We had a special team at Shelby last season.

Well then why not schedule them? Let me guess?? Schedule is full
Same reason you all haven't reached out to us. We have athletes down here in Shelby, you know that already, considering two of your best quarterbacks ever were Shelby, NC products, Marquise Williams and James Smith. The only thing you guys have on us is size, and that's obvious, being that you're 4AA, more kids to pick from. Skills positions? Y'all have nothing on these boys down 85S, 74W.

Your team last year didn't see an explosive offense like ours, or a hellacious D like Crest. We would hold our own versus anyone in the state of NC. Respect us or schedule us. Win or lose, our teams will have you as a fan holding your butt tight. Believe that!
