I thought Lincolnton's pass defense appeared to be, "keep the play in front of you and don't let the receiver get behind you". A couple of times the Shelby receiver caught balls within feet of a couple of defenders. Knock it down or catch it yourself, don't be a spectator. #6 is a threat, but did lay it on the ground trying to outmaneuver Lincolnton's defense right before the half ended. The wheel pattern worked at least 3 times for Shelby. #21 is a small player and hard to find on most plays, especially that late first half touchdown pass. That’s a great breakdown. Our inability to stop them on 3rd down was the key to the game. Shelby QB was great on 3rd down. Even when we got pressure he would move around and still find the receiver, usually across the middle. And #6 is a nightmare when he gets in open space. I also like Shelby’s offense when they get inside the 10, but I feel bad for the QB, he isn’t out there for the TDs. Shelby is a very tough team to defend.
