Shelby and Reidsville

Why y’all dudes stay beating a dead horse, though? The intentions of this thread were great, but predictably went left. I stopped reading the comments, just happened upon Shotgun’s post and responded.

I’m not even talking about that. I do respond to it. I think both sides need to chill.
My only response is let’s see if we can schedule something.

Let’s stop kidding ourselves, everybody knows damn well if Shelby was small 2a them Rams don’t go to any state championships

Your opinion, nothing more. Shelby lost a handful of games this year. Reidsville is 47-1 in the last 3 years. I don't think Reidsville is scared of Shelby, sorry.

47-1:rolleyes: play crest every year, play AC every year, play Kings Mountain every year, go to South Carolina and play the best team in the state, hell play South point every year. Then tell me you was 47-1 in 3 seasons. In 3 season you haven’t played not one top school in 2a which is Shelby, hibriten, and South Point

Wallace-Rose hill not a top school? Northeastern was a tip 5 team the whole year. Lincolnton was a top 5 team also

I'm sorry
South point is not a top 2a team. Reidsville last 3 years would have no problem with them at all.

And neither is kings mountain. What have they done that is noticable.

Did shelby play the best team bbn in the state in SC this year? If so I didn't hear about it

Sorry, not impressed. Reidsville's 1 loss was not from the western half of the state.

South Carolina 2017 South Pointe team is better than any team Reidsville had played in the last decade, possibly ever. No debate. They finished #5 in the nation last year for a reason.

Regardless. I dont understand why Shelby and Reidsville cant do a home and home. This is the game everyone been looking for, for decades now

I'm hoping Reidsville can get a big time game next season

You do remember Shelby bused in 250 elementary school kids on the day in 2016 when the ADMs were counted to avoid Reidsville in small 2A?

That is BS. Bused in from where? Dude claiming they was down every time we beat them, now this load of crap. 12-2, barley lost to the 3a runner up, at home western finals." We was down" lmao. 49-3. yet we busing kids in to avoid you 3 years later. Cmon man.

Since 2000, Reidsville has been to Regional Final 2002,2003,2004,2005,2006,2007,2008,2009,2011,2013,2016,2017,2018.........

been to state finals.....2002,2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2016, 2017, 2018......

state titles.....2002,2003,2007,2008,2009,2016,2018...........................

I'll let the Shelby posters post their glittering stats..............congrats to both teams......................

Shelby:
Regional Final
2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018
State Finals
2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018
State Titles
2005, 2006, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018

By my calculations - dead even at 13, 9, and 7

Not sure what Reidsville did in 70s, 80s, and 90s, but Shelby has multiple titles in 70s and 80s and one title in 90s ('98).

I knew that would get the blood flowing.

Could a Reidsville fan enlighten us all on this topic?
Reidsville won the state title in 1970, beating Pisgah 10-7 with a halfback pass from Lee Cobb to Steve Howard in the closing minutes. That was the most exciting playoff win until Saturday's win with 4 seconds left.

The most impressive Reidsville team that Shelby faced was the 2007 State Championship team. That Shelby team got to the championship on a wing and a prayer but hung tough on a really good Reidsville team, losing by 8 but had the ball with a chance for a TD and 2-pt...came up short.

Reidsville had Ray Ray Butchee at QB and Tayon Graves at RB...plus a beast, John Connally at LB...and the TE, Mike Brown, was a man-child.

This down time was the 5 years I referred to earlier. Teams of reidsville just weren't that good. Should have lost before even played shelby. No realistic fan thought rams would win anything those years. Was painful to watch at times.

Yeah, yeah. You obviously weren’t a member on this board in 13 and 14. There were a few Reidsville posters who felt that the Rams would win, as most fans of blue blood programs should, until proven otherwise. It was the same scenario then as it would be now, to this day( in my Deontay Wilder voice), we lost to tougher competition, and had to take that long trip to Reidsville. 13 and 14, we handled business.

When you guys lose, it’s hard for y’all to give props and acknowledge that the better team won. We’re often guilty of that too, though. It’s either one of three excuses from y’all, injuries, “we beat ourselves” see the Wallace Rose Hill thread last season for that one, or “we were down”. Since when does a blue blood program feel they are down? Those programs are always optimistic in times of adversity, remaining confident no matter what, until another team proves them otherwise.

Do I feel that the Rams laid the championship out on a silver platter in 2005 and 2017? ABSOLUTELY

I never said they didn’t earn it. Sometimes good teams make bad things happen.

I hope this game can be scheduled for next season.

I would also like to see if possible Shelby vs Dillon, Dillon vs Reidsville

or Chester vs Shelby/Reidsville.

Any one of these games would be fireworks...

Btw the grapevine say there's a Hough and Byrnes matchup early 2019 season

What about the rest of the '70s, the 80s, and 90s?

Reidsville has won 17 NCHSAA State Championships and 3 NCHSAA Championships deemed Regional in hind site by the NCHSAA.

Shelby has won 10 NCHSAA State Championships and 7 WNCHSAA Championships.

17>10

Since all threads Shelby/Rams related go off on unimaginable tangents I thought I’d share a story from my childhood.

My second grade teacher introduced the < and > symbols to me. Some of you may know her. She has a name similar to a circular tall plant with a woody stem. She explained that an easy way to remember how to use them is to imagine they are alligator jaws. And the alligator always wants to eat the most or bigger value.

This really stuck with me. I was a junior in high school before I could actually ‘read’ these symbols. I always simply imagined them as alligator jaws.

Fast forwards few years, my second grade teacher meets my then girlfriend when her daughter rear ended my pickup truck. Which is why you don’t let your girlfriend drive your pickup truck. And a few more years later my second grade teacher fills in for my now wife while she is on maternity leave when my seven year old was born. We actually made a visit to the home of the circular tall plant with a woody stem this past Sunday afternoon.

The fact that my wife is a teacher and at one time was an employee of RCCS is why I behave in here now. Or at least I behave more than I did in the past.

In conclusion, what does my life story have to do with Shelby/Reidsville? Nothing really, but I figured if 98’s can rant on about nothing important, certainly there is no harm in me also wasting your time.
