East Rutherford at Reidsville - Round 2

I’m proud of the Cavaliers!!! I only seen them 2 times this year and last year .. I was impressed with the size of the line and QB play .. I still believe they should have beat brevard they just didn’t finish them out when they had a chance.
Just to think East didn’t have a varsity team a few years ago because things were so terrible

Even without a passing attack, they will be a tough out. Two tough, slippery and talented running backs operating behind a solid OL, it will interesting to see if they can continue the momentum gained with the exciting, one-point win at Reidsville.

Reidsville had a 2-point conversion called back for illegal man downfield and a TD called back on holding in the final quarter.

Rams really missed Jariel Cobb's running in this one. Neal carried team as much as he could but had some costly mistakes.

How in the world do you get an illegal man downfield on a two point conversion? Sheesh!

We have said this for years.

Reidsville piled up many previous championships without having to play other greats in the state within their classification.
They avoided them by either membership in a rival association, or by sub classification where 50% of same size schools in the state were dodged.
Did they play and win against what was placed in front of them by others?
Of course they did.
But they have never proven or established themselves as the self proclaimed “capitol (sic)” of anything.
Reidsville went 31 consecutive recent years without a title or even a title game appearance.

So what has happened in these four years where the classes had unified titles and Reidsville had to play in a format that included ALL similar sized schools in the state.

1 for 4.

And with Shelby winning its fourth unified title as Reidsville won its first during this period.

Without question, the 2023 Reidsville squad was a super team, probably the best across all classes. We acknowledge greatness.
But you are not the “capitol (sic)” of anything.

And tonight you lose in the second round to East Rutherford.
It should be noted, that outside of our consistently winning 3 Cleveland County rivals, East Rutherford is geographically the next closest NC high school to Shelby.
We have played them forever, mostly as conference opponents.
We are not surprised they beat you tonight.
You play nobody in conference or out, and get rewarded with another #1 seed.
You benefit enormously from the weakness of teams in your area.

Another point.
We challenged years ago whether Reidsville’s recent resurgent success would continue beyond Coach Teague Sr’s tenure.
Will history show he was the dominant factor and the program will suffer significantly with his departure.
By comparison, the Shelby program has enjoyed multiple titles under each of the 5 recent head coaches, going all the way back to 1955.
That is a program DYNASTY.
No gaps, no let ups.
Can Teague Jr do it? Can his successor?
Still a lot to prove before talking the capitol nonsense.

Finally, a significant number of the current Golden Lion squad did not celebrate your loss tonight.
They wanted the shot at you this year as repayment for last year’s defeat.
And we are now all aware that realignment has conveniently placed Reidsville safely away from any rematches with Shelby for the next four years. By one spot.
Essentially, the realignment is nothing more than a reset of the subclasses where 3 of your titles were opposite of 3 of Shelby’s, and Shelby clearly was dominant.
It continues to pay off for Reidsville’s own Que Tucker to head the association and subtly assist “ her team”.

So while it is easy enough for us to prove your self proclaimed claim is bogus….
It’s much better to watch you prove it for us.

If yall knew what this man looked like yall would understand he aint got much to go on in life for besides his beloved Shelby Copper Lions

Cavaliers are on a hot streak right now. Can't imagine them giving up 56 points in a game after watching them against Reidsville. Note that two of Reidsville's TDs were scored by the defense.

I did say that Reidsville would not win it this year. I would like to just say that as the world turns and the weather gets colder the football is very difficult to throw the ball. This is where teams with QBs with no experience can get exposed. Both teams played their hearts out.
You were spot on Coach. The announcer for reidsville should have been penalized. ER to big. Ran right at Reidsville all night.

Minus the first game of the season and Hickory (Glass knows North Lincoln well), the NL Knights are putting up consistent scores in the high 30s to mid-40s with their rushing attack. Probably not 56 points, but highs 30s+ definitely.

Three to four weeks ago I was going to call a school out for their ranking on a CVAC thread. Spoiler alert: it was East Rutherford. Then I went to their MaxPrep and decided to STFU.

Absolutely. Widerman and Mansfield were the most missed players from last season. Still dont see the logic in using a guy there that didnt want to play defense in the first place.
I swear I mean zero disrespect by what I am about to type....

I've watched three or four of yalls games on NFHS this year and he seems to not really be "in the game" a lot of times during the games from what I have watched.... I also notice when he is on defense there aint a lot of fire there....Maybe its just me....Maybe he always plays like that, but I just dont see the motor this year I saw last.....Still a great ball player just something seemed off with him the few games I saw him play this year.... Still put up good numbers though....

He was awful. Calling out officials over the PA system? Should never see the inside of the press box again.

And for the record, the “TD that was called back” was aided by the very obvious holding penalty.

With the athletes on Reidsville team I find it hard to believe they didn't have a better defense. Did the coaching change

Yes we did.
And we will continue to as long as you claim to be something you are not.
Umm. No you vanished week leading up to Reidsville. Stayed gone there after. Like the coward you are. You mention the last 4 years? Reidsville has had more success in the same bracket as shelby in these years. You keep mentioning 31 years. Well I think Shelby was missing title appearances in the BC days. What does that mean? Exactly. Keep being the loser you are and go live your lonely life you miserable oaf . You make the entire 704 look like trash to people that don’t know them.

No reason to talk any more football when comes to Reidsville anytime soon. It’s officially basketball season and I’m for one happy to be pulling for the Rams

What’s bogus is the fact you guys were even in that game. East Rutherford almost goofed the game away with goofy miscues. As you mentioned earlier, Reidsville had one offensive touchdown. Otherwise, you were dominated. Hadn’t stop anyone’s run game all season, even in your wins. Get over it. It’s round ball time in Da Ville. It will be warm and cozy in the gym, and the smell of popcorn will be welcoming.

Two things from watching that video. Neal was not in on that two point conversion. His knee hit first. Good thing the young man escaped injury from that tackle. Also, Pinkerton’s forward progress should have been ruled on that fumble. Talking about the “refs cheated us”.🙄

not to belabor the point but the Rams did have TWO offensive TD.'s one finishing a drive and the other a short run after a 45 yard pass completion down to the 2 yd line and then scored....as far as slow whistles...that was all night on both sides.....I saw a lot of that this year in several games......not sure of the reason.............................

No doubt Reidsville was lucky to get back in the game - and take the lead - after trailing 21-0. The punt debacle was a true gift. Reidsville scored on that fumble and another fumble but, just to set the record straight, the other 2 TDs were posted by the offense.

Nothing but respect for East's program and what they've accomplished in the rebuild. Hope they can take it all the way.

I was told there was a lineman on the goal line as the ball was thrown, which is within the cushion and legal. When the ball was caught, lineman was deeper in endzone and that is what the official saw and flagged.

Yeah, but I have also seen you post before that Reidsville gets away with that a lot, illegal man down field, so I guess it finally caught up with the Rams, controversial call or not.

Humble Pie was served. This situation reminded me of the situation at Shelby, following the 2021 state championship season. Shelby went into the next season with lofty expectations and was ousted in the second round, dominated by Burns. You had Hoey Man taunting us in the Shelby vs Maiden thread about early exits, and lo and behold it happened to you guys. Winning championships is hard enough in itself, let alone repeating it.

Ill paypal you 16.88$ if you can find any instance of me ever saying that LOL
Damn sure trying to find it, where you once said that, so I can collect that “bread” to put towards a parlay, on your behalf. It wasn’t this season. But, you don’t recall ever saying that Reidsville often have lineman down field, and you’re surprised that it doesn’t get called more? If you don’t, then pardon me, it’s not that serious anyway.

The rule stipulates that an ineligible player may cross the line of scrimmage and block if the pass is caught behind the line of scrimmage. If it's thrown beyond the line of scrimmage, even if just 1 yard, then as noted above a lineman may block up to a maximum of 3 yards downfield.

The line of scrimmage is the 2-yard line. Where was the receiver when he caught the pass?

Promise you they were not the best across the 4 classes. Not because of talent but those "quality" 4A school numbers would be too much ultimately. East Forsyth gave it to them in scrimmage last year and we were maybe 5th or 6th best 4A school in state.

LOS for PAT is the 3 in HS. Ball was caught on 2 . I know someone said coaches were arguing it was caught behind the line. So if the route was supposed to be ran behind the line, blame the WR. I dont know, but I do know that isnt the reason for the loss.

Plenty of reasons for the upset loss. No. 1, in my opinion was Cavaliers turning back the first two Reidsville drives inside the 5-yard line. That set the tone for the entire game that it wasn't going to be business as usual for the Rams' high-powered offense.
