Round 4: Burns vs Monroe

True. I just think they'll be some long touchdowns Friday night.
Monroe will be way faster than Burns, in my opinion. Burns does not want this game to be a track meet. Burns has good overall team speed, however, they don’t have any burners, in my opinion. They have good speed, nonetheless. They impressed me more with their physicality. If you weren’t familiar with Burns, you’d think they were 3A, especially their defense. Big D Line, Linebackers over 200 lbs, big secondary. One corner goes 6’3, and he’s athletic with that height. Burns just needs to take a methodical approach, and just beat Monroe up, minimize their big plays.

Agree that Burns/Monroe will be high scoring. Would expect a 42-35 kinda game. I think Burns gets one more stop than Monroe at home to win. It'll be the best team Burns has seen since KM though.
I feel like this is my exact thought process. That’s why I say let the big boys run the ball and keep them fresh. Take advantage of the combo of physicality and speed.
A coaches game plan can make or break a teams chances. Been on both sides of it. Let's hope common sense prevails for all the teams left so the boys on the field get to decide the winner.

Just remember Monroe always starts slow for some odd reason. Just because you jump to a 2 TD lead like my Yellow Jackets did or East Surry and some of their other opponents did this year doesn't mean Monroe will give up. 14-0 leads mean nothing agsinst the Redhawks. Hope the Burns coaches remind their guys of this. GO BURNS!!!!
Hoping for 2 Ships for our county.
Union County still has a shot at two championships with Weddington in 4A and Monroe 2A but I just can't pull for Monroe.

Best of luck to both teams tomorrow. Monroe did a great job last week, wish the outcome was different but that's just the Lord's will playing out in front of us. Honestly would have dreaded to see Burns come to Pilot. I know Davey is a class act but the way his daddy was treated I would have expected him to hang a hundred on us if possible. Proud of him and how well they have done this season. He's came along way since I first saw him playing little league football years ago. Gimme Burns by 7, just for the Diamont factor. Hope its a great, injury free game. Hope to catch some of it online.

To go along with multiple statements made in this thread I feel like if Burns can make this a physical contest we play next Friday no question. If it turns into a track meet it will probably come down to who gets the ball last. Burns by 4! Let’s go Dogs!

Monroe plays on a turf field which gives them more speed on average. Is Burns field grass? I haven't been there in awhile. If so IMO it counters the speed factor somewhat? Going to be a slobber knocker!

If you get up on Monroe keep your foot on their throat. They start slow and start scoring in spurts.
Monroe is as advertised, resilient. Every time I think Burns is on the verge of delivering the KO, Monroe comes back with a score.
