I think we have I run our bigger backs Friday period. People don’t want to just get hit in the mouth over and over and over. Let Ryan, Lemont and Cahari run it up in there. Anybody will get tired of that way before they all 3 get tired.

North and south. That East and west mess ended after morehead. Well, maybe Shelby this year 😜 but in all seriousness you just gotta take those 3 yard gains and not always look to break one. You keep hammering, eventually the D will break and so will the run.

Looking like the rain will be earlier in the day clearing out in the afternoon. It'll be good for watching but the field could be sloppy. That could help us for sure.
BBB- I’m seeing they are only expecting about about 1/4” of rainfall. If that’s the case I don’t think it’ll be too awfully bad.

Their QB is Houdini back there. He got out of multiple sacks the FH game. He’s hard to wrap up.

I keep hearing he is tough to bring down but according to maxpreps he doesn't have a lot of rushing yards. Does he not look to run once he scrambles? Or is he just good at extending plays and keeps his eyes downfield for a pass while he's pressured? I'm sure maxpreps can be wrong with his rushing stats.
I believe they still did it during the Shelby game when it was pouring.
No they still did it when it was raining a couple weeks ago. They just set them up a little closer to game time
The guy who owns the business was a Burns graduate. I honestly don't know if that's donated each Friday or if Burns pays for it. I know he's the reason that the games are streamed during the playoffs.
He really does. We're very thankful for his support of the program and all he does. It brings excitement to the kids and fans. And hopefully will bring transfers from Shelby, Crest and surrounding areas. 🤣🤣🤣

He looks to pass and allow players to change their routes to get open. He only runs when necessary.
Burns and Monroe have been my top two teams all year in 2A. This is going to be a really good matchup. Both teams have excellent quarterbacks and athletes all over the field. Both teams are well coached. In my opinion I believe that this is the 2A state championship game.
Well you won't have nothing to do after Friday will you.
I’ll be in KM but I did watch Burns two weeks in a row. The game plan for Salisbury wasn’t bad and worked when executed by the players but against Monroe it will not work as well. The game plan against Shelby the week prior would be much better. To me it wasn’t much different except they spread the ball around more vertically. Last week they ran quite a bit of screen passes and it seemed like Salisbury was ready for it. I am in no way knocking the play calling because both resulted in a win. Shelby and Salisbury are nothing alike so obviously the plays and matchups have to coincide. Monroe is a very good team and very fast. Burns will have to keep them off balance but the thing that makes this such a great matchup is both teams have to stop each other the same way. I do like the above post about putting big backs in and pounding the rock. With the athletes Burns has at receiver you can take full advantage of opportunities if the running game is solid. Hate I’m missing this game but I cannot miss KM and EL.
Coach Sowell of Monroe is a great adjustment coach as the game goes on. Monroe usually gets better as the game goes on. He is a master at finding a weakness and exploiting it. I agree with the comments above about how Burns should try to use size and physicality to wear Monroe down. Monroe usually have a number of players going both ways.
That's the one "weakness" about Monroe. They start slow, and it's the one opportunity you have to take advantage. You're better off trying to get ahead by at least 2 or more scores and hope the time runs out as they come back. If the game is tied, your nerves will take a severe hit as they usually win 97% of the time, only 3A and/or 4A schools managed to hold on to the lead.
They're like Duke used to be in basketball where you had to take at least a 30 point lead to win, so by the time the clock runs down you're still up by 10. Only thing is Duke usually didnt start slow.
When Grizzly or one of the other posters mentioned this before the East Surry game I didn't think much of it but when East jumped out to that 14-0 lead and then they scored I started to see that he was exactly right. It's almost like they make you feel good and get you excited and think you're winning only to slowly tie it up and then take you out. Don't remember ever seeing a team be able to do this so late into the playoffs. It could come back to bite them in the butt.
Early in the season Reidsville was all nervous like

Typically, I don't do predictions. But I think I speak for most of us Burns fans/posters that we believe this will be a tight game throughout. While we are a faster than average team, the Monroe team speed worries me. There will be athletes all over the field Friday night. We'd love to welcome you to Lawndale Friday, but you can't go wrong with either game. Both should be spectacular.
I think KM/EL and Burns/Monroe will both be defensive battles.
I think KM and EL will be. But I expect the Burns and Monroe game to light up the scoreboard. Too many athletes and speed on offense for both teams to struggle scoring.
I feel best about this team when we have the other team in obvious passing situations. If we can score early and get ahead while also using that clock we will put them in that situation. With Monroe being almost equally balanced, it’s going to be key to get ahead and get them into that passing situation. If we can do that I love our chances of advancing.
