Canton
Haywood county championship, bragging rights and number one rivalry in the state.Labor Day weekend at Tuscola
A little early this year and non-conference.Will still be a big crowd , big half and half.Tuscola 1-0 ,Bears 1-1.Can the Bears make it five in a row..Last two games decided in overtime.Look for another close game with my Bears winning by six, just like last year.

BEARS GONNA BEAT EM DOWN...... AGAIN!!!! This has been a guaranteed win for the Bears the past few years. Ready for the Bears to take it to the moustache and his band of merry mountaineers

Don't think it will get as high since the game is so early this year. I heard Tuscola fans weren't going to show up, because they're tired of getting beat.

It's always less when we play at Waynesville..Will be hard to beat last year , when you had two undefeated teams late in the season with a conference championship on the line.

It just doesn't feel right to have this game so early in the year. No way the half and half gets back up to 25k. Last year that game built up as the weeks went by and the teams kept winning. This year it might not even get to 15k.

Crickets from the other side so far. What gives? As far as the 50/50. I don't believe it's ever been over 7000(take home) at Waynesville.
This year's game is just to early. None of the fans are in football mode yet. Or at least I'm not. Haha.

Way to early. Haven't seen enough of either team to know what's going on. BTW, everyone can get in on the 50/50 at bigt5050.com

The fact that there is an option to buy$500 worth of tickets is impressive. I feel that would only happen in Haywood County.

It's going to hurt the gate. But hey it's your 50/50. It'll leave more room for Pisgah fans to sit.

I doubt the 50/50 is the primary motivator for most fans to attend this game. If the weather is good, there will be a full house. I guess THS makes some 50/50 money, AND has a full house. As for the game, who knows? WAY too early to tell and the scores I have seen only make me scratch my head in confusion. Franklin beating Murphy? (EDITED) We saw Franklin right off the bat, With that big back, and they were not that impressive. But Hendersonville barely surviving W Henderson? That was REALLY hard to understand...Hendersonville is by far the best team I have seen so far this year. (SWAIN, Pisgah (twice) Murphy, Franklin, NB EH, Enka, and a SC team from Greenville that would beat all of us.) I guess I would predict a similar type game as the last two years right down to the wire. that could go either way. IDK.

I have no prediction, playing just one game and Pisgah playing against opposite ends of the spectrum...Got Murphy, which would beat a lot of teams, and Enka which is just Enka, I'll be there but cant say anything one way or another.

I dont know. You will have to ask them. I am speaking about the scrimmage at Tuscola.

Where are all the Tuscola ,Pisgah fans ?Last year this game had 296 comments and a full eight pages. Now not even one page.I know it's early non conference but this is ridiculous.

HootScooter, your right Tuscola should win. Their coaches have had two opportunities to watch Pisgah in action this year. Also have an extra week to prepare for this Friday.
My question is what happens to tuscola when they don't win? Pisgah takes the overall lead in the series for the first time in long while.

Canton...where the Smoke rolls, the whistle blows and the Bears prowl.

Pisgah must stink real bad. Seeing how the all powerful Black Knights won't come to Canton and play.

Not you again BK Knight. At least we don't smell like Robbinsville fans. In Robbinville they consider falling through the bottom of the outhouse a bath

I think Tuscola is way down this year and frankly, no one in Waynesville cares about the game anymore. Waynesville has moved on to other things that are more important in life. One side of Haywood County is stuck in 1970 and the other side is a little more developed. It is no longer two teams playing each other with the same identity in the fan base. At Tuscola, it is just another game, and they did themselves no favors due to the fact they refused to LIE about their enrollment to get into 2A. Tuscola is in the MAC, with much bigger fish to fry down the road. Pisgah will win in a landslide and then they can wear their Tommy Tubesock, Mill Tough, Just another Game, and all their other tagline skoal dipping redneck T-shirts that make Canton what it is and reflects the juvenile mentality of their Coach for having no class. I have no dog in the fight, but Pisgah will play their best game of the year by far, same as the last four years. I take Pisgah by 16.

Seems like some Tuscola fans have gave up on the "best" high school rivalry in nc after 4 years, sounds like a Republican after Obama won a second term lol

Says the guy with a picture of a "So called" mountain hillbilly as his profile picture. More important things in life, hmmm.
Keep that attitude tuscola fans. We'll keep winning on Friday nights and rubbing it in your faces at work on Monday.

It's just too early to get super-hyped up for a game like this or any game right now really. High School, College, and NFL should all start on the same weekend. It would def help put everyone in the football spirit and overall competitiveness. Just my worthless two cents! Anyways, I have no idea who should win this game! The sample size is too small for both schools to really have any kind of idea on an outcome yet. Also, looks like the weather will play a pretty big role Friday night. So, who knows?

You mean: Canton... where the inbreds live 100 feet from mama (or with her their whole life), where the kids dream of working in the mill (if they can pass the drug test) and the liquor store is the most profitable business in town.

LOL!!! Robbinsville..Where the women roam free and the livestock run for their lives!!
J/K I think we pull this one out this Friday. everything is all tied up.A lot to play for!! Hopefully both sides come out jacked up and NOT treat it like any other game.
Mounties by 2td's! That's right 2! Hell..Hopefully more..:p:D

Ding, ding. We have a winner. Mr. Shine has nailed it.

Yeah, if Tuscola was so proud to join the MAC fish pond then why did they appeal to the NCHSAA over and over to get a waiver to drop down to 2A? The powers that be know that THS will be an also ran in most team sports the next 4 years, and your gate receipts for football are gonna drop drastically. Most MAC teams don't travel well, nothing like Franklin or Brevard. Good luck swimming with the bigger fish.

I believe the mill , Credit union, and bank or the most profitable business in town You know like most small towns. As for the mill it sure keeps those non-native folks out.If Waynesville is so great why do all those people from Waynesville work in the mill? But once the Bears win they want admit it.

I hope our mountaineers pull out the win this season, and I think they will. Can't say what either team has yet but it seems like Tuscola is still a little weak on pass defense, which Pisgah seems to do pretty well with walker in there, based on last week. Murphy is just too good to say Pisgah is bad or down yet. Tuscola gets some big plays from Cullens and ewart, Murphy ran the ball all over Pisgah. Mountaineers win by 10 this year, and some turnovers due to likely weather keep it close as well. It's just strange to have this game now, not much buzz created at this point for any high school football, so who knows what we will get, other than a hard fought game. GO MOUNTAINEERS!

Shine Time typed that while sitting in his mama's basement. Heck let me quit my job and go to sucksville for $8/$10 an hour.
That's why you have to sale 50/50 tickets online to the whole nation. Trying to make up for what your fans can't.

Poor Tuscola. The beatings the past few years have really taken a toll haven't they? I heard that's all the "Waynesville folk" talked about in Florida last winter. Maybe your boys can pull you out of your misery, but I highly doubt it. I think what you all really need to do is send your coach to the Jerry Springer Show, so that we can finally get definitive proof that Brett Chappell is his daddy.

"That's why you have to sale 50/50 tickets online to the whole nation. Trying to make up for what your fans can't." First I heard of selling 50 50 tickets with credit cards was at Pisgah. First I heard of selling 50 50 tickets weeks before the actual game was at Pisgah. Good ideas both IMO. Tuscola just added an online option which may or may not been done at PHS. Will the total equal last year's take? Doubtful, but it is already added to the total that will be sold at the gate so I am told. Nothing wrong with that. As for the game a win or a loss wont define Tuscola's season. But I am not sure the same can be said about Pisgah. This game seems to mean SO much more to them.

You know what you all sound like? A team that has lost to the Bears four times in a row. Keep telling yourself that this is the only game the Bears care about, and we will keep advancing further in the playoffs than you, just like last year. So how exactly has this mindset of "just another game" helped you all during this streak? I'll leave it at this, there's been a lot of talk about Hurricane Harvey which has been terrible. But what CNN needs to cover is THE BEARNADO THAT IS GOING TO TAKE OVER WAYNESVILLE FRIDAY NIGHT. C.E. WEATHERBY STADIUM WILL BE SHOOK WITH MOUNTIES STREWN ALL OVER THE FIELD!!!!

Albino is right. You guys try to pass it off as just another game. But it's not. If it were just another game they wouldn't pack the stadiums every year. They wouldn't be selling 50/50 tickets online, trying to out do the other. If you guys happen to win this year the first thing out of your mouths will be still got the overall lead. So don't sit there and feed us that line of b.s.
This game does matter,it's our county championship. County championships, conference championships matter to us. Because let's face it neither of our teams will likely go to the state championship. So that's all we fans have left to cheer for. The Bears kicking the crap out of the Mounties every year and hopefully winning the conference. Maybe with a wing and a prayer some day reaching the state championship game.
But I guess Waynesville folks are to busy doing more important things to care about that stuff. This is why if I were a football player for tuscola I wouldn't step foot on their field. Not a damn one of them give two shits wether you win or lose. It's just another game.

"You know what you all sound like? A team that has lost to the Bears four times in a row. " I dont know about that, sounds to me like a good healthy attitude not putting all of your season hopes into just one game .Tuscola has had streaks too. and the series is tied after all these years. Hell both teams might as well pack it up after this game to hear some of you harp about streaks this and that. .But Ill give you this, when you say Pisgah leaves it ALL on the field for the Tuscola game, they sure do! Trouble is there is nothing left to leave on the field for the remaining games. How can this be a good thing.? Especially with at least 7 games to go this year, and much bigger worries just ahead of both teams. This isnt even a conference game, nothing whatever riding on this game at all other than a mythical county championship. Who knows, maybe if Pisgah wins maybe they should buy "rings" for all the participants in the game.
