NS-Jax @ East Duplin. 2AA Eastern Finals

[TD Pass2]

It's come down to ECC foes to decide who goes to the State Championship. NS is coming off a impressive win over Clinton while ED hung on to beat the gunslinging Bears from Hertford County. Who ya got?

On a side note, this is strictly for Ninja....I thought Clinton was gonna hang 45 on ED??? Guess ya won't get that chance.

East Duplin has a great defense and no one denies that. And there offense is good and athletic. Northside defense will be ready for the ED offense especially with the games since the first meeting and having more practice against that style. This will be a game of defense. This playoff road given to Northside was a hard draw and you have to beat the best to make it to states. I predicted Northside by 7 over Clinton and was right. So I'm gonna stick with Notthside by 7 and a bid to states.

Northside went to Sampson County and won, so they obviously have a good team. However , I've believed in my heart all year that ED was the best team in the east. And I believe that still.

Northside-Jax cannot throw the ball as well as Hertford Co. I'm not sure there are many 2A teams who can, and we've already shown them that they can't run on us.

Big Moe I don't beileve will be playing. But he is about 6'3 278-280 lbs, he is making a very good recovery and will 100 percent for next season. And I'm willing to put money on it that he will be 6'4 by then

it wasnt that early. it was a conference game. im thinking the same as some of these other guys. ED by 14 over NS.

Just remember, as your Monarch team got better, so did the Panthers. It will be a defensive struggle for sure. We're both here for a reason.

also, we went "TO" Northside and held them to 7 pts. on their homecoming game. that says a lot right there. our defense overall is stout. i know NS can pass pretty well, but i seriously doubt that they can pass it like Hertford. they were great at passing the ball. but they were too one dimensional. we shut down their running game, and made just enough plays with our pass defense to get the win. looking forward to next week.

ED fans, I'll just say this it's hard to beat a good team twice and Northside a good team. Clinton beat them earlier in the season 35-15 and they're better than then. They've played a pretty tough playoff route to get there and they as well as you belong. It will be a tough ECC slobber knocker . Good luck to both teams as one of them are going to their 1st state championship game ever. Earn it and enjoy the ride!

i have no doubt whatsoever that this will be a very tough game for my Panthers. but its never easy this deep in the playoffs. everybody left has a good team. like @Wiz said, its hard to beat a good team twice, but if we do, it wont be the first time its ever been done either. at any rate i feel like we will be ready to rumble next week. hopefully that will be good enough to defeat the Monarchs. time will tell.

just ready for a great football atmosphere, I remember one year we brought a whole army of fans to the game and it was amazing. Kind of like being road warriors, no matter what it's nice to be on your home field, but with how the Monarchs are playing on the road I'm cool with it haha.

I can't believe I'm saying this i but I'm pulling for the Panthers because I know they had some very good teams over the years that were almost as good as us but came up short and traditionally they're deserving of a state championship appearance in their own right. . Go Panthers!

Here are keys to game for ED. NS could not run it against Clinton. They went I and Power I for 2 1/2 Quarters and maybe had 50 total yards of offense. Then they went 4 and 5 wide. They can complete some passes but the QB scrambling gave us trouble. So don't worry about there run game it's non-existent against us but the spread to run/pass was the most difficult to defend. NS on defense will do everything they can to force you to pass. They put 10 or 11 in on us and unlike games past we couldn't complete any passes. If u can u will have success. Good luck panthers, NS will be tough though.

Hertford passed VERY well, but despite them scoring all 4 of their TD''s through the air, our coverage was actually pretty good. if we werent as athletic as are, we would have got decimated by their passing game. it was that good. and like Clinton vs NS, HC couldnt run on us. we shut their running game down. but luckily for us, our pass defense did just enough for us to win. we blew one late game scoring drive with a fumble after a great run by Chris Benson. that would have pretty much sealed it. as it stood it was somewhat of a nailbiter until the end, but we held on . our QB Cameron Hall made a huge first down run on fourth down, near the very end of the game, that allowed us to take a knee and melt the clock away. we are running the ball very well right now, but we are also passing pretty well too. hopefully we keep the pass completions going, because if NS loads the box like you said, we are going to have to burn them some througb the air some to keep them honest. i cant wait for next week.

They had some late game heroics which made it look closer than it was but ED was in control the whole way. I can't imagine we'll see another passing game as good as the one we saw last night.

We tried a quick slant that had it been completed even if it wouldn't have been a TD it would've changed their defense but we didn't and each time we tried it again they shifted the corner in tighter and they tried to jump the route. If they give u that look and u can hit the quick slant u will have them having to adjust which may open some running lanes.

if we can hit that quick slant with one of the speedsters we have on our team, i seriously doubt they'll catch him. i have no doubt this will be a tough game for us, but i think we'll be ready.

If you can't throw you may be in trouble. The DarkHorses went to the spread and wildcat and had a nice 30 yd touchdown to tie the game with 3 min to play. Unfortunately the defense couldn't make the play. With about 2 min to play on NS winning drive NS had the ball 4th and 2 on the 50 and they converted the key conversion

Northside crowded the box in Jacksonville the same way you guys say they did last night. East Duplin ran for 270 yards...

in our game vs HC, they ran for 9 total yds. we ran for 339 yds. they passed for 364 yds. we passed for 72 yds. it doesnt take a genious to see that their big play ability is what kept them in the game with everyone of their TD's coming off passing plays. there is noone else around here in 2A that can pass it like that. it will prob be a defensive struggle.

oh make no mistake about it, i agree with you 100% Wiz. we have been on the recieving end of several games where we dominated the stats, but didnt put enough on the scoreboard. ultimately the score is the only stat that matters.

i assume youre talking to me @Darkhorse04. if you guys come, the more the merrier lol. youre more than welcome (although you have knocked us out of the playoffs on more than one occassion ) at any rate i have predicted us to win by 2 TD's. that doesnt mean i dont think Northside is capable of beating us. i know they are capable of beating us. i just think we are a slightly better team, and that we will come ready to play like i know they will. at the same time it wouldnt surprise me one bit if these two teams add another chapter to their history of instant classics. i just hope we do enough to come out on the winning side of things. it should be a fun, and if youre me, a very nervy affair .
