The new poll has it as follows
1. South Point
2. Shelby
3. WRH
4. Reidsville
Splitting hairs but not sure WRH is top 3.
No disrespect to Shelby. They're undefeated but games a much closer than past couple of years. I think if you're undefeated and defending champions you deserve benefit of the doubt, but without the pedigree you guys would be 5 or 6.
Either way all four are defending champions. 2A is loaded.

As far as speculation goes its difficult to know who is clearly #1. At the end of the year someone will be but on a given night any one of these teams could beat the other. We have a heck of a race building here.

If you will read what I said, you get the benefit of the doubt. Some of you're on fans have said no less. If you weren't 4x defending champs, you wouldn't be 2nd. Look at the teams below us. Hibritton, N Davidson, E Dublin, they're all very good teams and all have had convincing wins. He'll I didn't think we should have been 8th starting out. Morehead and McMichael are the only bad teams we've played and we have no choice. Rockingham is 3 and 1. They have a very good chance in finishing 3rd in their conference with 3 losses. Magna Vista was ranked 7th in 3a in Virginia. Reynolds is a large 4a school and undefeated when we played them. NW is one of the largest 4a schools in the state with 2 D1 receivers. Andrews is down but always plays physical.

Nah, we've earned it, and it's not any of the typical Shelby chest bumping you've come to know, but our schedule has been brutal, indeed, we haven't faced any 2A opposition yet, but yet, we stand 5-0 going into a game versus a 4A team who no. 8 in the nation. Brutal schedule!

I completely agree with South Point jumping us in the rankings. We should definitely be no lower than 2 or 3. We are beating very good teams.

And, 3 of those 3A teams are ranked in the state. 2A posters are so accustomed to seeing us blow out opposition, they think we're down this season. They'd be wise to believe, otherwise.

I honestly think Shelby and South Point will meet in 2aa western finals and Reidsville and WRH have a great chance of meeting in the finals

I agree, my early prediction has been.
2A Reidsville vs WRH
2AA Shelby vs East Duplin *Obviously, I'm Shelby biased, South Point is playing some great football, and may have a say in that, though. Shelby vs South Point is going to be an epic battle to end the regular season.

Lots of parity in 2A this season, ain't as top heavy as years past, in my opinion.

They are VERY good teams but...

We were only really down in 2010 and 2015. But I get your point 2011-2014 had good teams just not great.

Every prediction I have seen has Shelby going small 2A.

Until SP beats Shelby, I feel Shelby should be #1. Last year 24-0....that is what we still have to go on.

I don't think you can drop Shelby from #1 especially with the caliber of teams they are beating. Not many teams in the state are going to be undefeated playing the games Shelby has played thus far. The play-offs are going to be electric and very exciting.

I don't think you can have Shelby anywhere but #1 until they get beat... And, I'll even go one step farther and say that I don't think think you can Shelby anywhere but #1 until they get beat by someone from NC. RHSP will beat them this Friday, but then again they would beat anyone in this entire state regardless of classification. RHSP is 8th in the damn nation, that in my eyes shouldn't diminish anything ranking wise. Their schedule so far has been absolutely ridiculous and I don't think many other teams would be 5-0 with it. They may not be blowing people out, but they win and the last time I checked that's all that matters. They're the 4-time defending state champs and are currently still unbeaten this year with a target on their back bigger than anyone I've ever seen before. So, I think they're #1 until they lose to someone from NC. Because after all this is a STATE ranking poll. A loss to the best team in SC shouldn't matter in that respect. Just my two cents from a completely unbiased fans standpoint.

The 2011 team with Dominique Shoffner at QB and mike smith at wr and Rankin at linebacker was pretty darn good..lost to kinston in the regional final on the Hail Mary ..Coach Robs last year

FWIW, And if Shoffner had been able to finish the game, or if the coaches would have let the QB run outside when the Rams had first and goal with about 4 minutes left, the Rams would probably would have added another championship ring to their collection.

The poll is supposed to project who you think is the best now. I don't have a problem with anyone jumping anyone if they have played that well. However I wouldn't mind seeing SP fall off the board completely I hate #1. By the I think SP can beat Shelby this year but make no mistake about it they are still Shelby. Some of you folks are going to be pulling for that team that thinks they're down too and what a long night it'll be. For all the doubters don't be surprised if they play extremely tough this Friday.

Some of you missed my point. Off credentials alone they should be up front. I didn't think Reidsville deserved to be 8th starting out the year. All I said is if another team was 5 and 0 with close wins, it would take them longer work their way up

I completely agree we should have won the 2011 state championship we would have killed west stokes in the state championship, I still believe this team would beat them easily
