Well folks, I have to agree with BK on this one. Anytime you lose to Robbinsville its an embarrassment.

How many real championships does Pisgah have? Robbinsville is a very good program, Graham County eats sleeps football.
Please do that.
Side note, Murphy is one of the better teams in the mountains year in, year out, regardless of classification. This year's team should be exceptional. Not sure how to take your comment about Pisgah playing much better competition.
Murphy 21-0 over Asheville tonight in scrimmage
Well BD that's 3 years in a row that the Dogs have worked over Asheville or Erwin in a scrimmage in Buncombe county....As Chris berman said, one is accident, 2 is a trend 3 is a problem....bottom line neither of these 2 buncombe teams are as good as the top level teams in the state in 1A the last 3 seasons....are they down or just not that good ?
Not knine but I'll reply here. Murphy DID play Asheville in a real game, twice (2001-2002). Murphy won both games. So what makes you think Murphy is the one who won't play "real" games against MAC teams?? Maybe it's the MAC who won't play Murphy in a real game? Maybe they saw what happened to Asheville those two years and decided it's not worth it? I don't know that for a fact, just putting it out there as a possibility. In 2001 (one of the years Murphy beat Asheville at WCU), according to coach Gentry, Murphy had an agreement to play Reynolds at WCU that season too. But Reynolds "found a reason not to play it" according to coach Gentry. There was an article in the Cherokee Scout before the 2001 season about Murphy's schedule and that is where I read that. Murphy was supposed to have an exceptional team in 2001 so maybe Reynolds didn't want to risk losing to a 1a team like Asheville did? They pulled the same stuff with Swain in 2004. The difference between that situation and Murphy's was that Swain and Reynolds actually had each other on the schedule (at Swain) and Reynolds backed out and scheduled someone else, leaving Swain a game short. Swain went undefeated that season and won it all. Sure Reynolds played them in 2003 at Reynolds and beat them, and they even agreed to play Swain the year after. But that doesn't hide the fact that they just didn't want any anything to do with Swain in 2004 because they knew what Swain was going to have that season. Swain no doubt would have won that game because Reynolds sucked in 2004. Don't think for a second that Reynolds didn't consider that, even though they will never admit it. As for Erwin having to go out of state last year to find opponents, join the club. Murphy has to do the same thing every season.
Concerning Asheville being "down", I'm not saying they aren't, but that seems to be the excuse every time Murphy outplays them in scrimmages or beats them in real games. Shouldn't a big, bad MAC power like Asheville ALWAYS be better than a little 1a school like Murphy?
I would like to see it.
I would really like to see that as well. If not that then Murphy vs Reynolds. I have respect for Murphy. Not sure how my comment was taken out of context about Asheville being down because they clearly are. That had nothing to do with Murphy.
With the amount of kids and talent that Asheville has to draw from I'm not buying that Asheville is just down. They should be able to go toe to toe with any 1A team in the state any year good or bad.
Who says the can't? Are you basing this all off of a scrimmage?
I just find it amusing that a 1A team puts three scores on Asheville and the automatic, "they're just down this year" starts lol.

I have seen Asheville play every season since around 95. YES they are down right now. Its a damn scrimmage game anyways. Who cares. Why do Murphy fans stay so defensive all the time. I said nothing bad about them at all. If it bothers you so much then play them. I could care less about the game 17 years ago between those two. Ask ACR to drop Shelby. I am sure they wont care. Ask Roberson to drop Crest. Just quit hijacking every thread trying to remind us how great Murphy is.
Hijacking? First thread I've posted in. I'm laughing, you're upset. The problem is that you can't make a statement like that and not expect any opposing fan to not respond. I'm just saying Asheville being down has zero to do with this. It's a 3A team vs a 1A team. The also has zero to do with ACR or crest or Roberson. Murphy played Asheville, it is what it is.
I think the Murphy folks may be saying Asheville may be a little better than what you think. Asheville probably is down some but this years Murphy team is up. Asheville might be below their fans standards but they'll probably still pretty decent. Regardless it was just a scrimmage.
You actually work?? You sound like you draw a check every month. Dont forget MICS on your head for 80 points.I work out of Franklin. Sometimes we work in Waynesville-canton. Very rare.
Mountain Heritage did look good , so did Swain and Pisgah .Good scrimmage for all three teams I thought Pisgah scored against the Cougars and once against Swain but I could be wrong.Pisgah JV scored four times and the Cougars scored twice.Good luck to your cougars think they will have a good year.Didn't get to make the Pisgah scrimmage but from what I've heard Heritage was the best team there, only 1 td givin up by the starters on a bomb pass from swain
I'm going by hear say because I didn't make the scrimmage, but the varsity starters only gave up one TD to swain and none to Pisgah, not a knock at either team just heard we were laying some leather tonightMountain Heritage did look good , so did Swain and Pisgah .Good scrimmage for all three teams I thought Pisgah scored against the Cougars and once against Swain but I could be wrong.Pisgah JV scored four times and the Cougars scored twice.Good luck to your cougars think they will have a good year.

I don't disagree with you .The Cougars certainly looked the best of the three.Just pointing out that all three looked pretty good.Swain will have a good year in the SMC.The Bears got to look at a lot of kids .Believe every one got in a few plays. We will find out Thursday how good we are.
