Mt Airy vs Robbinsville Western Regional Final

Well they putting our Radio guys in the rain on our side in the stands. Robb doesn't even have a place for cheerleaders or the band. They have to stand on the 20 yard line sideline what a cracker jack box stadium!
The radio guys broadcasting for Robbinsville will be right over there too buddy! Welcome to the Big Oaks. Thats what home field advantage is all about. It’s not about making the visitor comfortable

Its called hospitality and welcoming visitors to your place. We always do! Yall just showing the kind of people yall are I guess! Keep poking the Bear you will learn!

Shouldn't be undefeated and ranked #1 going to a school that has a loss neither but we are! If MA is #2 seed and not the underdog then the system gets it wrong!!!!!
Thought we were all on the same page with seed and rank? RPI rewards playing hard schedules.
Robbinsville schedule - 1
MA schedule- 39

Now Buzz if you want the 1 next year. Drop 2 of the cupcake non conference games and get Reidsville and Shelby on the schedule. I actually like rpi.

This has the way it’s been at the Big Oaks as long as it has been there. Visitors are welcome and it’s nothing that any other schools that has come hasn’t dealt with. You just choose to be a big ass crybaby about it.

Flawed system!

You can welcome and have good hospitality without having to cater to visitors. We have a home side and an away side just like everyone else. Y’all are gonna sit in the rain just like all of our fans. Y’all’s band will be outside in the rain just like ours. Heck we even made it easy for you with a concession stand in your side of the field. Just like another poster said; welcome to home field advantage. You’ve had it for 2 years up until this Friday. Now, it’s our turn. Lots of history at the Big Oaks. Lots of mighty teams have played there. Some have won. Some have lost. It’ll be decided by the players on the field.

All this BS talk bc yall know whats coming! Rain is your only hope of slowing MA down but guess what they are strong and will come right at you all night! Your season ends FRIDAY!!!!!!!

I’ve had my waders on since Friday with all the stuff you and GC4L spew out of y’all’s mouths. We know what’s coming. You have no clue what you’re about to hit.

You’re the one that is talking BS. If you have to convince yourself that Mt. Airy is the underdog then you have lost it buddy. Guess what Robbinsville is strong too. Keep saying yall are coming because guess what… we want it all. Win or lose for Robbinsville, we want your best effort so there is no excuses

I was responding to him crying about MA puts coaches in elements on top of the press box you azz! Read if you know how~!!!!!!
Oh I can read, that’s why I was responding to you saying we’re putting your radio in the stands in the rain in our Cracker Jack box! If you don’t like it…keep your azz at home old man!

As for the game and not the pissing contest, I think Mount Airy wins by 2 TD or possibly 3. I don't think that is a bad thing to say or an exaggeration.
At the same time, they could just as easily lose if turnovers happen, I mean the ER-MA game showed that. I still think ER was a close match to MA. I think this is Mount Airy's most complete team ever even if they don't win the the Championship.

They have not been held to less than 40 points in a game this year. They have only been scored on 3 or 4 times all year by driving the down the field. 2 or 3 of the scores they have given up were blown coverage or in one case a fumble recovered in the endzone. Robbinsville has a tough task ahead and if they are able to do it I will eat my crow and heap praise upon them. They will have earned it. Robbinsville is a very good team. I have watched several games this year (not in person). They can win this, I just don't think they do. I think Adam's will get his yards and may even break through for a long one at some point (though my bet would be it will have to be to the outside). Calhoun may struggle to get as much as usual running up the middle. He come off as more of their powerback from what I have seen. If Robbinsville is going to win, I think they will have to do as Murphy did in the first half and control time of possession, but do it for the whole game. Sustaining long drives like that on MA defense is hard and I don't see it happening a whole game. And when you don't, congratulations, your down a TD. You pretty much need to score every possession. I think Robbinsville's pass game will have to play a part in this. I don't think MA has much in terms of weaknesses on D, but if they do it's pass defense. Sometimes the defensive front is too aggressive and a screen pass could get by if they get it off in time. A couple of times, the DBs have slipped or didn't cover a guy(Murphy game with presnap shifts). There is risk in passing though, as the DBs are the same speed guys on offense, so they can close fast, especially Revels. On special teams, as risky as it may be, I don't think you short kick on kickoffs and give MA an even shorter field. Give you defense a chance to get a stop and short field helps MA as they have an excellent kicker even if they don't punch it in from a short field. If nothing else, I would just kick it out of bounds.
Robbinsville does have good linebackers and I think their chance to win will depend on them and the backfield making good calls and open field tackles. Mason, Martin, and Reid will require it or they will be off for the races and they usually win those. I expect it will be a good game. I will hopefully be able to watch it on grahamstarsports. Hope everyone travels safe, fans have a good time, and players have injury free game.

As an honest question, have some of you SMC guys watched some Mount Airy games this year or just seen highlights on maxpreps and hudl?

Truth hurts. The system is flawed and Robbinsville took advantage of it. It is pretty simple after all.

I agree this system is very flawed but I would not punish Robbinsville for the RG loss. I totally understand the county rivalry gate games and your conference schedule is what it is but Ashe County as a non conference game is disappointing. As I posted with Buzz earlier in the season if you are winning state titles why change.

Very good analysis I think.😁

Mount Airy offensive line is very good and all it takes is a little hole and Mason/Martin are gone. But, the Bears also have a power running game and showed it a little last Friday putting Dandy in the backfield. Reid is a horse as well.

If Robbinsville has any passing game, it would help them tremendously. I truly believe a team that if a team is going to beat Mount Airy, they have to pass the ball. ER had some success in the first half.

Robbinsville does have a passing game. I have seen it in some of their games. I just don't think they rely on it heavily because with their run game why would you. I think you are right that it will be necessary, but it carries it's own risk. They close fast and if you don't complete it, you've lost a valuable down.
