That was another time and teams, results can change. The 2015 game was at Mitchell, where and where were the other games played. I'm Thinking at least 1 was in 2a but where and when were the other 2. We have lost to Mitchell 3 times as I know of. Were they all at Mitchell?
The series is 3-0 Mitchell, 2 at Mitchell, 1 at Mount Airy.

Good lord hasn't this been discussed enough? 2 starting linemen out pre-game, and one starting linemen went out after a few snaps.
Then I have them backwards. I was going off memory lol. I'll fix it.
1986. Mount Airy was the 2 seed, Mitchell was the 7 seed.
Were there only 16 teams in East & 16 West in 2A & all classifications 1980s games? More or less
In '86 they beat East Surry the week before 27-0 at Mitchell if I remember correctly Mitchell had to score on their last drive to win the game..I'm positive it was at Mt Airy. But anyway I was working at the radio station in sales and one of the announcers went on vacation after the game no one expected Mitchell to go to the 3rd round so I had to fill in as color man at the next game at Mitchell against Newton-Conover which Mitchell did lose 20-12. My one and only time on the radio I was 21.

I had a stack of Newspaper high school sports pages from the late 1960s to 1998 or 99 and they got gone. Just keep what I could in my head through today and it gets all run together at times and more so the older I get..

That's true, best teams Mitchell ever fielded, me and Nathan hall John hall's son, were on the sidelines with you I guess we were 4th or 5tg grade, towel and water boys playing on the field at half time, I remember it like it was yesterday lol

Good luck to the Mountaineers! (its so weird saying that) All the Pisgah folks I know are pulling for you. We went down to Mt Airy and beat them in the spring, now its your turn to do it in the fall. (when it really counts)
Yes, in our 1st game in the spring this 2A Pisgah did slide by our 1A team 28-21 and East Surry got by us 17-10 the last game before they lost to Tarboro 25-7.
Looks like Pisgah started basketball practice this week after a 3 point loss to South Point. They were also a 1st place team in their 21/22 Conference. Good luck next year.

I just looked it up and MaxPreps has released New State Rankings as of yesterday. MA is now the #1 seat and Mitchell is now the #2 in the West.
Charlotte Observer, Chris Hughes is reporter, not sure if coaches, associated press or what. It does not say.
Look at my "new" post about the undefeated teams in the various classifications. 6 in 2A and only 1 in each of other 3.
Tired of talking. Ready for the game. No more blowouts for any team. Everyone that is left deserves it. Both teams will need their "A" game to win. Neither team can afford to turn ball over however I feel like Bears have a more big play offense that can get them back in the game if they get down. It will not bode well for Mitchell to get down and have to play from behind. Need a ref crew that will let them play and not call every ticky tack foul on both sides. The winner will have a two more BIG hills to climb to get to the promise land. I'm a Bear fan all the way but we will need to play our best to win from here out.
I have been thinking about this game and the two teams. I do not think that it will necessarily be a close game or even come down to a single mistake. I believe it will be more of a Murphy Eastern Randolph type game. One side or the other will be ready and willing to "do their thing" to the other.
Strength and pounding or speed and quick strikes. Which ever team exerts it game plan first and thoroughly I believe will win by a several touchdowns.
For Mt Airy to win, they must be ready to play from the beginning. They can not let Mitchell control the game.
For Mitchell to win, I believe they hope for, and need, a Lake Norman type game without the lost fumbles.

WOW, 3 teams matched up in 2A Friday are undefeated and one with 1 loss is #1, Shelby. Could be an undefeated western 2A final. Could East Surry really be one of them, playing at home Friday? I will be keeping up with 1A & 2A Friday unless ES is getting blown out. With a Shelby, lose and an East Surry wins the East Surry vs Reidsville rematch at East Surry for the western finals.
