Mack is Back Part 2

4-1 and 1-0 in the ACC, which is what I predicted. Now, it's anyone's guess. Alas, great showing today by Drake Maye whom now has 22 TD's to 1 INT for the year.

Mayes is a remarkable young guy who has a promising future, a record-breaking Tarheel career, and who could be the next great quarterback in the NFL. Many people were skeptic about him. During his high school season, some people refused to believe in him. The tide has changed!

What people are you talking about? People were talking about him since the 9th grade. His tenure at Myers Park, he put them on the map, without him they were average at best. He was critiqued but don't recall anyone refusing to believe he had talent. You're a little dramatic, aren't you.

That's a different approach. Why would anybody care about what Sam Greiner said. He said Vance has the best defense in Charlotte History? He also called Maye the best QB ever? He's wrong often. Come on Coach! I don't get this one. He's has a Social Media outlet that he uses to get likes and views. Nobody in Charlotte gives a F&$%# about what he says. He says things for entertainment .........WTH?

They said the same thing about Howell. Where did he go??

Kids a stud. Long way from HOF.
Kid sees the field on another level compared to Howell. Sam wanted the big play whereas Maye will hit the open receiver. What he's doing 5 games into this career is pretty awesome -- can't wait for the next 21 games.

Kid looks the part for sure but he has played against one legit college defense and looked average against them while the game was competitive. He missed alot in those first 3 quarters.

He's gonna put up some monster numbers because the defense is so terrible he's gonna be chucking it a ton.

I've watched the kid play since he was a 9th grade at Hough. Huge fan.....just not quite ready to start making the bust for Canton yet.

I actually think the game this weekend is pretty interesting. I assume Cristobal has had everyone's attention the past two weeks.

I remember the game we attended when he was in the 9th grade at Hough. The sentiments were the same, hopefully they don't move him up to Varsity during the playoffs. He'll be a problem. He was throwing dimes all night. If anyone is saying this guy had skeptics and people didn't believe he was a stud, they're just making stuff up. The kid has been acknowledged as a baller throughout High School and considered the next big thing in college. Lot of scouts get it right, and lot of scouts get in wrong. As of now, he seems to be on the right track.

What Chris Leak did in high school and winning a National Championship at Florida is tough to beat. Heath Shuler finished 2nd in the Heisman.

I remember articles about Jimmy Clausen when he was in high school saying he could go straight to the NFL.

Think the HOF talk was for amusement. Credit the ND defense for bullying an average OL and shutting down the talent around Drake. He made some sweet passes in that game, however. Looking forward to seeing how he progresses week to week.

Drake was just named ACC Quarterback & Rookie of the week.

He gained 436 total offensive yards in the Tar Heels' 41-10 victory over Virginia Tech. That was a phenomenal game. 26 of 36 throws were completed, resulting in his ever career high 363 yards and three touchdowns... added 73 running yards, which is also a program record, and two rushing scores to account for all five Tar Heels touchdowns... Also named ACC Rookie of the Week for the third time and ACC Quarterback of the Week for the second time this season. That

There's no denying Drake. He’s definitely not Howell. He has surpassed that level. Where will he go? The last five games speak for themselves. He has surpassed all expectations to begin his first season. The young kid has the most passing yards and passing touchdowns in the ACC with 1,594 and utilized his legs outside of the pocket, rushing for 255 yards and three touchdowns.

Maye is one game shy of tying the single-season conference record for most games with 5 total touchdowns in the last 25 years. Now he will face Miami who has allowed 251 passing yards. This will be the chance to tie the record on Saturday. He also completed passes of over 20 yards to five different Tar Heel receivers in the last blowout. He joins Heisman Trophy winner on heralded list.

Drake's record stands out compared to others in just five games and we all can’t argue with greatness as he continues to rack up the accolades and awards.

Good Luck young man.

North Carolina has been churning out some QBs. Howell, Hooker, Hartman was from NC wasn't he? He transferred to Oceanside. Garrett Schrader at Syracuse went to Charlotte Christian. He threw a really nice ball to beat Purdue a couple weeks ago. Then Maye of course. Some big names there in pretty short order.

Also Grayson McCall at Coastal Carolina. (Porter Ridge)

Then Jadyn Davis is in the pipeline. He's probably going to get a shot somewhere. Not sure how it compares to CA, TX and FL, but I feel like that's a pretty impressive run. GA had the one class with Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields. Can't even remember the last good QB out of VA.

Had to look into that. Trace McSorley is all I could find recently out of Virginia played at Penn St. He was in the 2014 recruiting class. He is on the Arizona Cardinals roster.

Everyone anticipates that Drake, who has been a revelation for Carolina, will provide another strong performance today. While the defense has been terrible, subpar, and embarrassing, the offense has been dynamic, enjoyable, and exhilarating. Everyone anticipated that without Howell, this offense would crumble. Drake, a redshirt freshman, has filled in, and with an average of 318.8 yards per game, he has outperformed Howell. On the other hand, everyone saw Carolina lose to Appalachian State by a score of 40. The difference between Carolina and Miami is explosiveness and Carolina has the most explosive offensive in the country. Maye has a Pro Football Focus Grade of 98.1 as well. Finally, Maye will help Carolina win thanks to their improved defense.
