Lincolnton vs Reidsville Regional Finals

Just watched the game against East Lincoln they rushed for almost 250yrds think if we can get running going and keep there offense off the field and chew that clock up. Reidsville walks away with the victory
Whew...long time ago! But you are probably correct. Our offense is hitting on a couple of more cylinders at this point, so I'm not sure how that figures in a scenario where you keep them off the field. I think that was ELs plan, and it almost worked. Throw in a "balky" play clock that caused both to be shut down that night...lol.

Your scenario looks solid, tho.

Think you pretty wail nailed the anticipated strategy for RHS. Not sure I agree with the walk-away part, but certainly agree this approach would increase RHS' chances, as good as they already are.

I witnessed the Cummins offenses during that period twice -
Apparently no one realizes that the game time temps will be in the 20s Friday night according to the forecasts.

Tough to play pitch and catch when its that cold.

Another group of delusional posters, this time from Lincolnton, are going to be awfully disappointed Friday night.

Try to get to Reidsville early and eat the BBQ at Short Sugars. Can't lose that one.:)
Im comfortable with our running game, if the cold stops our passing. It presumably will have stopped yours as well?

Yea... cannot not imagine that being intentional but one has to question if there was a little Belichek going on that night. Lol. Was a fun night, no doubt.

EL was good, very good. They got a monster draw with Monroe and had to play sans their star but could've seen them making a serious run. And absolutely, L is playing significantly better since that game.

Lol....not to get off track but I said that about the play clock at EL when it first happened that night...cause it worked like a charm during warmups...and then boom...faulty...just like a water soaked field one other time and there was no rain the night before....you have to wonder...

North Rowan in the first quarter ate up ten mins of the clock but didn't no points out of it. As long as we control and score should be fine

Agreed. Reminds me of my golf strategy...as long as I drive it straight, chip close and putt well I should be fine.

That's right as long as the (Wolves) drive it and chew clock up and punt we will be JUST fine

But lincolnton is going to be the first true test for the rams

Agree with that statement and also agree that the ball control is a good strategy for Reidsville (as it is for most teams)....if they can successfully execute the strategy. However, Lincolnton can win in a ball control type game as well. Maybe Reidsville's defense will slow down the Lincolnton offense just enough to make it ball control and score rather than quick strike with a score. But in either case Lincolnton is going to score.

I be the first to say i really want to see a good ball game that comes down to the final three mins. All this crap over by halftime it's not that fun to watch

We can't say that...South Point and East Lincoln tested us. We weren't sure what those games meant at the time, but were hopeful they meant we had beaten a couple of good teams. Turned out that way, as the Raiders are still playing in 3a and East lost in rd 3 to a heckuva team. West Caldwell was plenty good, too. But had to play East Lincoln in a grudge match in rd 2. And Maiden took our lunch money the week after we beat West.

Maiden...geez. It was a show! 5 TDs in 71 seconds... 7 TDs in 3rd quarter... Served a good purpose, though in my opinion. 1) Refocused our team. (Nobody's been taken lightly, since)
2) Convinced the world that our defense stinks. (Hope that means they take US lightly)

I can't imagine any coach at Reidsville has gone for a ring fitting.
I can tell you that no coach at LHS has!

Good luck to South Point! We knew you were good!

Page 3 and it's only Saturday....this thread is going to be fun to watch. I've wanted to go to Reidsville and watch a game. They have some great posters on here. There will be some outstanding games this coming Friday, but I've made my choice to attend this classic between 2 great programs.
And which side will you sit on, dear lady?

Its a compliment.. Cummings used to have a dynamic offense from early 2000 until around 2006 or so. Maybe earlier than that but that's the time frame I remember.
Oh, I assumed compliment! I recall they could be a little undisciplined.

Sad to see their program at the other end of the rankings now.

This is the first one I've totally agreed upon...because both teams have pretty much played solid half games all season...

Very impressive stats put together by the Wolves (according to Maxpreps)
QB Cordell Littlejohn (6-4, 185 junior) 3576 passing yards, 49 TDs
WR Sage Surratt (6-4, 210 senior) 120 receptions, 2031 yards
WR Langdon Givens (6-3, 180 senior) 49 receptions, 1018 yards
RB Xavier McClain (5-9, 185 senior) 2117 yards rushing

Size and stats a good combination ... Reidsville defense will have to be at its best. Pass rush will be crucial. Rams have some studs on defense as well.

Is it Friday night yet?

Cummings in free fall ... to see Brandon Tate returning kicks for the Bills today reminds you of those great Cummings teams. Great quarterbacks and receivers every year during those days.

I disagree with that. Northwest was a very good test for Reidsville. It was at that point I realized this team is very good. The Andrews game helped us. The Mt Heritage and North Rowan were against good teams. At the end of the day, we were just better! I've never seen a team that has lined up 14 weeks and beat every team that's lined up in front of us face the criticism Reidsville has
We've heard schedule, we've heard untested, we've heard you see Friday night, we've heard you guys haven't seen anyone like this guy and that guy, this defense or that offense, but the outcome has been the same. 14 wins and 0 losses. Do we respect the talent of Lincolnton, yes. They're is not one team on your schedule that I don't think Reidsville would beat. Not one. Comparing us to NC is a joke.
I understand you guys being confident in your team. A few of you are very humble of opinions and so are most of our posters. I really get the feeling some you expect to see a repeat of last season. I highly doubt your coaching staff expects the same outcome.
I've always said the best way to kill a yellow jacket nest is wait until they're calm and burn it. Don't kick it.

Watching Reidsville, if they play us man, cold or not, I believe it'll be a showing out by our receivers again. If you only rush 3 or 4, going to be hard to get a lot of pressure on Littlejohn.

As for our defense, it has made great strides since the loss to Maiden. It also has a lot to do with our boys playing both sides of the ball, when you are only on the field for a hand full of plays and then have to play defense for 10-15, then score quick and then back on the field, of course they are going to give up points, they are exhausted.

That being said, like I said previous, this game on Friday night, will be the best game played by both teams, and I hope they both show out, because it will be the team that wants it more at the end of the night, and if it comes down to the last possession, what a better ending to a game of the two best teams in the West.

Best of luck to the Rams
and
Go Wolves .... Eat up!

Serious question.... I know you are deep on the depth chart...but how many players go both ways if any?
Cause to me that might pose a problem for us if you guys are fresher down the stretch....

We have a couple of go to guys that play a lot. We are deep at most positions. Especially on D Front

Newton Conover has a team full of athletes, they are a little young but they played in a tough tough conference. don't sleep on our conference

It will be on display Friday

I (we) have magnitudes of respect for the Rams - I hope my friendly Reidsvillians (?) haven't mistook my (our) friendly jabs and banter as anything more than good ole fun.

Both teams have enough success to their name this year to deem them worthy of carrying the tag as "championship favorite." Its a stretch to suggest either will have enormous success against the other (though I will continue to argue Lincolnton will :)). It is going to be a very interesting, brutally competitive game.

I cannot recall a year when the final 4 teams in 2a/2aa west were as impressive as those four left this year. Just a great year for high school football...

Go Wolves!

I actually disagree. Nwg was a good test. Hpa was a decent one and North Rowan was probably the 2nd best team we played

None of the teams mentioned had the explosive offense that Lincolnton brings...especially in the passing game. NWG lost in the 1st rd of the playoffs and HPA lost in the 2nd rd.

NWG was 7-5!? If NR was the second best team you've played, I'm assuming NWG was 1st? I'd say the 77/99 Simmons strength of schedule might be generous.

They play in a very tough 4a conference. Lost to SE Guilford, Meyers Park, Reidsville and E Forsyth

Go Reidsville!!! Ha

Seriously though this should be a great game. Would like to go but Shelby is close.

Nwg is a big 4aa school. They are a average 4a team, but its a tougher game for a 2a or 3a school in comparison.

I think Lincolnton is better than both, I'm not sure what you're arguing. Nwg lost in the 4aa playoffs though and I said Andrews is a decent team.
