HighSchoolOT Football Polls
Only one team in last week's HSOT Statewide Top 25 lost on Friday. That team was the Scotland Fighting Scots. Scotland, then No. 25, fell to Pinecrest, then No. 25, in a 27-17 ballgame. Scotland was replaced by the Monroe Redhawks, a force in the 2A West. With Monroe's inclusion, 17 of the top 25 teams reside in the western half of the state.
Here are a few things about how our rankings work in football:
- Rankings are updated weekly and released Tuesday morning
- All high schools in the state of North Carolina, excluding athletic training academies, are eligible for the statewide top 25
- There is a separate top 15 for the state's six area codes that is also updated weekly
- Rankings are paused during the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs
- Final rankings are released the week after the state championships
