Greeneville @ Pisgah

Magnum 45.....get it in your head. Greenville Tenn HS would be in 2A ball in NC. Each state has different numbers for each classification. WF probably would be in 6A or 7A in other states. Greenville HS only have 850 students and that would be in 2A ball in NC while Wake Forest HS have 2,166 students. That is HUGE difference. This is just a game and it is fun to talk to different fans that support different schools.

As an example, Dillion in SC is a 2A school and compete nose to nose with Mallard Creek couple of times. The fan for Greenville HS has every right to be proud of the school and that is one heck of a team for Tenn. No need to bash each other...... It is just a GAME.

It was greenville fans coming over here and running their mouth about how great they are. They will probably kill pisgah. No shock there Try playing some of NC top teams.

I call bs. How does a small school from a small town have 10 d1 players on their roster? Again, nobody will see what you're about because you're not even playing the best team in the mountains, much less the state.

Greeneville isn't that small..... and Greene County is huge. I could be wrong but I believe they have open enrollment in the county. The rest of the teams in the county are pretty dismal.

You are stuck on the 4a schools from NC. If the 2 schools are playing each isn't this what the message board is for. I do think Hibriten could give Greeneville a heck of a game for a 2a school in NC.

It's not a open enrollment. County kids can pay a tuition and go there. I don't think there is to many kids that go to the County schools that would make a difference.

Hibriten would struggle with Greeneville. They are too one dimensional and Greeneville is too athletic up front. If they could throw in an adequate passing game to balance out the run; then yes, they could give them a go. But without its only a game for a half.

If they can pay to go there from anywhere in the county its open enrollment. I'm not taking anything away from Greeneville. They are stout. But if you take (2) studs from each from North Greene, South Greene, West Greene and Chuckey you have potentially depleted already barren stables and loaded another.

You don't pay to go to a open enrollment right. Greeneville is a city school which is different from the county schools.

The money for the city school comes from a different place than the money for the county schools.

Thanks for the kind words. Like your announcers said last year, everyone from wnc better come out and see this Greeneville team in 2018. They are the best football high school team we’ve ever had the privilege to watch.

Niswonger has done so many amazing things throughout east Tn and Greeneville/Greene County. He has sold Landair as well

Every homer announcer says that when they are getting ridden like a rented mule. They were playing the Packers the year before in Belmont against South Point.

Not sure how being Catholic changes the meaning of the term tuition or open enrollment.

I wonder way you would have to pay a tuition to go to a Catholic school. You never answered my question do you have to pay to go to a open enrollment school because I don't know.

Both are open enrollment to a degree. Catholic operates more like a charter school that does not have to follow state curriculum standards.

So way do they have a different curriculum from the other schools that might cause you to pay a tuition. Still do you have to pay to go to a open enrollment school.

Isn't the Topic Greeneville @ Pisgah? Devilfan101 just rattled off stats from the Devils and you start slinging Mud "Tennessee Football is Soft" "These 4a NC schools would eat your lunch" . Tennessee Football isn't Soft if you would do some more homework on teams in TN. National Rankings have the Top 5 teams in the state of TN (Maryville, Oakland, Brentwood Academy, Greeneville, and Knox Catholic) as #31, #66, #111, #163, #219) . Nc Top 5 teams ranking wise is (Charolette Christian, Hough, Mallard Creek, Havelock, and Charolette Catholic) as #57, #58, #124, #171, #199. Seems like both State have great teams at the top. The state of TN actually has a higher % of players recruited by Division one Schools also

I can always be wrong but it's my understanding that Catholic is stupid expensive and athletes aren't supposed to take any scholarships, unlike the rest of the student body. So open to a degree, but you are supposed to be a member of the Catholic Church (a limiting factor) and have some money (another limiting factor).

Most of the kids go to a city school since grade school

No way you convince me that either, NC or TN, have a higher % of D1 recruits than Cali and Texas.

I definitely wouldn't classify the City of Greeneville as large by any means with a population of 15,000 people. Greene County Land wise is very big and very spread out for one of the largest counties in the state but the entire population is 69,000 people with a population density of 111 ppl/sq mile. Both City and County School Systems are open zoned. (Over 90% of Schools are open enrollment per the TSSAA Rules. Any School that has an official transfer policy on file is open enrollment since the school board can send a kid to another school rather it be for School performance, Behavioral issues, Safety of a Student, etc.) . If you live in the City Limits of Greeneville you can attend any county or City school without paying a fee as long as you provide your own transportation since you pay city taxes. If you live in a County School you have apply to attend the city school system and pay a tuition (Difference in City and County Taxes) and provide your own transportation. No sports team in Greene County can recruit kids to their school but that choice realize on the Parents. The city school system is heads and shoulders above the county system when it comes to academics and AP classes. Greeneville City School system was the #1 public school system in the entire state last year

That's my point. Greene County isn't a open enrollment. Do the City schools have a advantage if a kid wants to go there maybe. My son's team was beating North Green 50-0 at halftime when they played this year.If any county kids go to Greeneville for football it's more than likely they just want to be on a team that wins.

That map isn’t exactly accurate. Context is key. NC routinely churns out more D1 players than Tennesee over the last several years. NC is moving away from the “basketball state” stigma and is finally getting reckonized as a football hotbed.

Not only does NC push out more recruits (normally) they also churn out great ones in recent years. Just this year you have arguably the nations beat QB, RB, and DT (Will Grier, Bryce Love, and Dexter Lawrence) all from NC.

Per population they do if you would read the bottom. Its taken by how many kids went D1 divided by how many kids actually played football in the state over the last 4 year period. You don't have to believe me but take that up with the NCAA who released the Study

You are contradicting yourself in this post! How is it not open enrollment. Swipes just laid it out above...... and you just stated that if county kids go to Greeneville for football........

I would hope so with having 10.27 (NC) million people compared to 6.71 (TN). That is putting everyone on the same playing field statistic not by how many people live in your state. Its simple Math the bigger the population the more D 1 recruits you will have because their is more people to choose from

Not true look at south Carolina they put out lot more talent then tenn.

Not sensitive just didn't know if you read the entire thing instead of just looking at the map lol. I've never said that NC or TN produces more D1 talent in a per numbers aspect but who would when California and Texas have more than triple the amount of people living in it compared to NC and TN

Per the NCAA they had .2% more Division 1 recruits from 2014-2017 per # of Athletes that Participated in High School football in each state. You all are arguing stats that the NCAA has put out i'm sure you know the numbers better than they do....

I have noticed Tennessee teams have alot more players on there roster. Example when the Elizabeton Maryville teams dwarfed the larger or at least equal Asheville teams. How about compare how many d1 recruits from percentage of players on teams, not people in the states.

That is exactly what the Stat from the NCAA I posted states. The Quantity of Division one recruits is going to be higher in State with a Larger Population. (It's the Basis of Probability). The way the NCAA did it evens the playing field by factoring in the total number of Football participants in each state compared to Division 1 recruits not just Total number coming out every year.
