In my opinion, Forestview should run sparingly from the single back spread. Just enough to show it. Otherwise, empty backfield with 5 wide. Crest will likely go with 3 down lineman if FV is 5 wide. The key for FV is blitz pick-up by the O Line and blitz recognition by the QB when Crest has 3 down linemen.
FV should continue to run power I and try to pick up 2 or 3 yards at a time and pass out of the 5 receiver spread. The problem with that idea is that it is predictable and can lead to 3 and outs. FV has shown some success in passing out of the I which can lead to some big gainers.
FV should also be careful not to do too much play action in the single back set if the intent is to pass. Showing the ball to Neal will not slow down the Crest line and only serves to give Crawford less time to get rid of the pass. Having Neal in the backfield is enough of a play action in an of itself. Take the snap and get rid of the ball.
As to FV on defense. I think they should load the box against the run. And if Crest passes, then they should bring the house anyway. Man up on the receivers and put as much pressure as possible on Green to make the throw.
