Basketball First round scores

Cherokee boys 108 Cherryville 93 final

Braves had 93 at end of 3. Starting recruiting fans from the stands in the 4th to play!

Cherryville was VERY quick. Better than i thought they would be. Braves are gonna have to step it up some, especially on defense if they plan to make a deep run.

Overall a good game though. On to Round 2.

GO BRAVES!!!!!!!!

Community school of davidson 54 alleghany 53 trojans lose another 3pts or less game, they r young maybe next year they will learn how to finish games.

Rosman 77 East Surry 66 final

Congrats to Coach Galloway and the Tigers on the playoff win over the Cardinals....Think this evens the all-time series at 1-1 with both teams winning playoff games on their home court!....Remember that first game in Pilot Mountain about 15 years ago as I was the score keeper that night for the Tigers, and got to meet and talk with an outstanding gentleman who went by the NCPrep name of Old Rebel.... We've lost touch through the years, and I miss him posting his thoughts on here about the Cardinals because he was always spot on, classy and knowledgeable with his remarks...BTW, I remember his name, but chose not to post it on here....Of course, he will always be Old Rebel to us NCPrep oldtimers who conversed with him back in the early days of NCPrep...

Tigers next travel to face Avery County who knocked the Tigers out of the playoffs last year with an 85-60 win!

Good luck to the Tigers in the 2nd round against the Vikings!

T-town: what does Swain bring to the table? I know they're good in football but have no history on their basketball....good luck to Tigers at Avery!

Don't think you'll see a repeat of what happened in the football playoffs a couple years ago....Your Granite Bears obviously have a good team that went head-to-head with WSP this year splitting a couple regular season games with the Phoenix, so I don't think you guys will have any trouble advancing to the 3rd round...

Good luck to your Bears on Thursday!

Nothing to worry about. Swain county was VERY weak when we played them. Had they drawn any other team than a little smoky team, they would be practicing baseball today.

How did Cherokee give up 93 pts to a 30 seed?

I will agree with Mont here, Swain doesn't bring much to the table in basketball. Not much for Mount Airy to worry about they will have the subs in by the 3rd Q.

Helives1... You must not be familiar with SMC basketball. That's Cherokee's MO. They can afford to give up that many points when they put up 100+ points every night. Also, I would imagine that they were up pretty comfortably by halftime and emptied the bench against Cherryville.

Well I'm not gonna belittle like Mont did but if Mt Airy can beat WSP they will have no trouble with Swain. Bottom line is one of either Mt Airy or WS Prep will play for the title and everyone else should just be happy with a chance to get to regionals.

He loves to belittle Swain! Except during football, baseball, softball, volleyball seasons! Lol!

LOL
I'll let Robbinsville take care of them during football season and Hayesville take care of them during baseball season!! That covers the big 3 sport seasons!

Cherokee was up 30 late ...then subs let cherryville score about 15 in the last 5 min ... Cherokee has turned into a 3 headed monster on offense with 3 guys avg 20 or more points lately. Plus got great shooters off the bench. I think on any given night we can roll with anyone. In 1a.

I felt like Swain looked good early in the season. I watched them in the Christmas Tourney at Franklin and thought highly of them. Late in the season they fell off and we (Andrews) even beat them. Granted the one player doesn't play on Friday because of his religious affiliation. That is what I heard at least. The other player that was out was Shuler. I really thought they looked good when the whole team was in tact.

can your Tigers win at Avery???

Going to be tough bareman...Avery beat Rosman last year in the first round by 25pts(85-60), and the Vikings obviously have another fine team this year....Rosman has several kids that can shoot the rock, but don't think they have a lot of size which teams will exploit come playoff time....Nonetheless, it's the first time in several years that the Tiger Mens' varsity have advanced to the 2nd round, and hope that they give the Vikings all they want and more tonight, but they are facing a long trip, and long odds to boot!

Roar Tigers Roar!
