Ur gonna get me off subject now lol. Here is a pondering for ya. Is it not weird that we have a popular national brand of frozen pizza named Red Baron 🤔 named after Baron von Richthofen a German fighter pilot that killed at least 80 allies. Not gonna lie I've indulged in this brand and is usually my go to frozen pizza. But always pondered the choice of name and mascot
That's pretty interesting and made me curious about it, too. There were some comments about the Pizza being named for the actual Red baron because his name was included in a series of cartoons and comic strips, called "The Peanuts" that were well known in the mid 60's to mid 70's. The main character was a neurotic boy named Charlie Brown. His dog, snoopy has dreams and imagines he is a WWI fighter pilot who is going after the Red Baron. That was an unofficial comment from some poster on a gossip site, so I don't know if it's correct.
I did learn that Marvin Schwan, founder of Schwan Foods makers of Red Baron Pizza, originally sold Pizza to schools in Minnesota which might give some creedence to him adding the Red Baron name to his pizza because of its connection to the Peanuts cartoons.
Also, Charles Schulz, creator of the Peanuts was originally from Minnesota, and the setting was Hennepin County, Mn., so it does kind of tie together.
*Side note: I have know several people who served in World War I, which included two of my Father's uncles. The last surviving American WW I veteran was Frank Buckles who died in West Virginia in 2011 at the age of 110.
*Side note: There was a World War I fighter plane engine on display in the Dept. of engineering at the school I went to. It was a strange looking thing called a radial engine. The cylinders protruded outward encircling this engine. I remember how clean it was.
Side note: For a person your age to have a curiosity about Red Baron Pizza, and Manfred Von Reichthofen, some clinician would call it a healthy curiosity... For someone my age having a similar curiosity and posting a message about pizza, and about Charlie Brown and the Peanuts, at 1:30 in morning, this same clinician would call it advanced cognitive decline. 🤠
