CVAC 2022 - Week 7

I'll be interested to see what NCHSAA rules since Linc had their bench clear and enter the field. They may be disqualified from playoffs
Don't know if true. But someone was telling me that the nchsaa doesn't have that power anymore to kick teams out of playoffs. Don't know why they would lose that power but could be part of new deal with state

Maybe I missed it but what started the fight? Just reading about it on Charlotte Observer Twitter.

Yeah, I'm sure great care will be taken to see that we're penalized in every possible way... How unfortunate it is that one thing and one thing only will be the focal point of this, righteousness.

The thing is...most of the time, the team is just trying to protect their teammates. I didn't see anything malicious with the kids that entered the field of play...but it'll take the film to pass judgment.

I hope Lincolnton doesn't get penalized.

Bunker Hill won 35-34 in overtime. From what I heard, WL scored first, had their PAT blocked. Then BH scored and made their PAT.

As for our game, very wild and exciting, happy to come away with a win. But I hate that a fight broke out. Hopeful that both teams learn from their mistakes. And what a crazy end to the first half. Bandys takes a knee, both sides appear to head off to the locker room, then Bandys offense runs back to the line and runs a play, 80 plus yard TD, as Lincolnton only has a few players anywhere near defensive position. Well executed. But the Wolves responded well in the second half.

Well I woke up and read all this figured I’d chim in. I musta been the only poster at the EB Newton game. Well Cavs lost again but this one was close. Newton is really not that good but athletic enough to stay in a game if other team takes their time trying to score. EB even though they lost musta had 4 or 5 more min in overall time of possession. Need to work on our 2 min drill. The boys do play tough tney really do. Just appears that some newspapers at the beginning predicted right and that they would finish at the bottom just above WCaldwell. I gotta admit they are one of the best 2 win teams around.

I wasn’t gonna go to another game but due to a change of events in my life I just up and decided to hit up the EB game last night. My high hopes for EB as well as higher expectations was due to them shutting out Patton, hanging with Freedom in a should of won game, beating a successful Draughn team, moving the ball well against Maiden even though expected to lose- then there’s the Bandys Newton games. I dunno boys, when you come up short you come up short. I wouldn’t go sleeping on the Cavs though.

Linc wins.
The numbers are meaningless and you can always find stats to fit an agenda…So with that out of the way, Lincolnton has held currently undefeated South Point, East Lincoln, and Bunker Hill to their lowest point totals of the year. Also gave Bandys their largest defeat margin so far. That and a $1.50 will get you a cup of coffee.

You do great work with your playoff bracketology projections. It will be interesting who would move up into their at-large sacrificial positions if the Wolves are disqualified.
At a glance...Lincolnton is currently 17 seed and would travel to North Stanly. If Lincolnton gets disqualified then west Stokes would move up from 18 to 17.

Maiden would be #7 hosting #26 Mt Pleasant, if Lincolnton gets disqualified then Mt Pleasant will move up and the new #26 seed would be......drum roll.....West Lincoln

Once Maiden's victory is in MaxPreps, the RPI should update and we'll get a better look. We may jump to 6 seed. Won't know till then.

Reidsville plays Monday...so it'll be Tuesday before we get a good look...possibly Wednesday

If Defense would show up, we can win scoring enough points. good to see some passing two passing TD but got to stop somebody. still have hope for the future!!
I have to agree. We made a couple defensive stands but it wasn’t enough. Their RB wasn’t bad and it wasn’t like their passing game was better than Bandys and Maiden. I’d say we got a decent running game to eat clock and make 1st downs if our defense took their stands.

Hate that one of our best defensive guys LB Wilson is graduating and nobody to fill his shoes next year and a JV team that’s not been doing all that well but I’d like to be hopeful for future as well. This year, I do believe and would like to think that EB is one of these teams that could have a good week of practice and match up well with Lincolnton and West Lincoln dispite the records and who beat who before the game starts. I’ve seen one game in 98’ we’re Freedom was on the ropes and losing to EB at the half when they destroyed teams that beat EB before the first snap of that game. It could happen. Lincolnton and WL fans, it ain’t over when you line up with the Cavs this year. Don’t take em for granted ha ha

First off all I was at the game , I have friends who coach . It appeared both teams were chippy. Bandys players were taking some cheap shots. When officials don’t get a hold of things bad stuff happens. Number 58 for Bandys even tried to swing a punch then stopped before doing so. One play in the 3rd , Bandys number 4 hit a LHS player late . The officials lost control of this game . According to one of LHS coaches The official on the Lincolnton sideline told the LHS defense to not hit Bandys on the last play of the half, saying they were taking a knee . I had a close view of what happened. Bandys appeared to be taking a knee and ran a trick knee play as some Lincolnton players and coaches were walking off the field . Then on the ensuing PAT , a Bandys player grabbed #11 from LHS by the face mask and was punching him . When the LHS player tried to get up , the same Bandys player pulled back down and that’s when players on the field got chippy. Some of the coaches from both teams tried to stop the action. LHS had one player who tried to come on the field . LHS coaching staff along with Bandys did a great job with sideline and handling the entire situation. My buddy who is a coach said the official on the LHS sideline apologized for signaling halftime . Sometimes sorry is not enough. Both teams played hard but Grizz the bench did not clear . Neither bench. At least from where I was watching, a couple kids tried to enter the field but the LHS coaches contained them by grabbing so they could not enter the playing field .
Thanks for clarification on your end. I was on the bandys side on the opposite end near the concessions. From there I could not see what caused the fight, it did appear that almost all of the Linc players entered the field of play. Yes, both coaches did excellent suppressing what could have been a mess.

No. 58 for Bandys has a history of playing dirty. I've seen it at every game I've been to. I've told my nephew they need to control his outbursts.

I confirm Bandys cheap shots...and raise Lincolntons too. Neither team backed down. Gotta love CVAC aggression.

Would you be surprised if I told you every Bandys game is like this? My uncle had to openly scold two women last night for cussing and almost throwing hands in front of my niece and nephew.

Wow I did not realize Bandys had all that going on. I think overall both coaching staffs are getting all they can out of their players and have overachieved. This is a tough conference, LHS losses this year all come to undefeated teams. South Point who just destroyed Crest , East Lincoln and Bunker Hill. The Lincolnton fans need to have patience and understand that this CVAC is a tough conference. I think Albert Reid at Bunker has to be considered for Coach of the year in the conference. No doubt it will be interesting to see what happens in 2 weeks in the Maiden and Bunker game . Just imagine if #5 was playing for Bunker. That dude had 500 yds rushing after 2 games . Sounds like Maiden’s QB is improving each week. The problem this time of year is injuries. I made a mistake and picked WL over Bunker . I have lost 2 times not picking the Bears . Look at this conference, LHS lost 7-6 to Bunker . The Wolves beat Newton 22-21. West Lincoln blows a lead and loses a close one to Maiden.
Bunker beats West Lincoln 35-34 in OT. The CVAC might be the toughest conference in all 2A. We can’t forget about how tough East Burke is and capable of playing spoiler . Heard or read on here that their best running back is hurt. I hope that’s not true , if do I hope he has a speedy recovery. I love the CVAC conference.
Don’t forget…East Burke beat 1a Draughn and Draughn layed it on the defending 1a West champs ….Mitchell… last night.

Mitchell played Watauga very tough earlier this season as well!

CVAC is definitely fun to watch…ya just never know!😉

That EB running back would be Buff. He’s a soph. He’s out for season. I graduated with his dad. EB still has other ones in the stable. Levi Coble is their big boy that can eat it up the middle. He gets small yardage here and there but a far cry from being at the level of Shatley( OLineman for the Jags)

GrizzlyDevil, it was good to see you at last night's game, thanks for saying something. I wondered why you were on the Lincolnton side, knowing you have a special nephew playing for Bandys.

I went into the stands and worked my way over to the fifty yard line where I got a good seat at the top. It's not that I care but the fans around me kept looking at me in a puzzled way and I didn't recognize any of them, but I have to say, they would speak when I would say hello. Across the way I thought, "we have more fans than Bandys".

A large group of young people in white, some in togas and other strange linens entered the stands. I wondered if it was the Latin Club or The Future Business Leaders or in-school suspension. I hadn't seen them at our games. When I saw a Bandys band member it dawned on me I was on the wrong side and probably in a reserved seat. Like Hickory, their press box is on the visitors side.

So for any bored Bandys fan who might read this screed who saw an old man stumbling around in the stands near the top about the fifty yard line, thanks for your toleration.

Side Note: For anyone who doesn't know GrizzlyDevil, last night, he looked like a college level football player. It's obvious he has been spending time in the weight room and keeping himself fit.

The reason I say this is because I've spent many years attempting to shape my behavior as a calm, patient and sensible adult, and frankly I feel like I've done all right, I like it that way. In spite of that I've grown up around, lived around, and worked around many tough people and as hard as I try not to, I still have a little bit of that old disposition, meaning when I meet someone or haven't known someone very often and run into them, I still have this very fleeting thought of, well, whether or not I could take them. Not that I would ever want to try but it's just the residue of having been around an old mindset.

Last night coming home from Bandys and driving down the Buffalo Shoals Road(Hey, a bunch of them have that old mindset, too, and probably still have it, I mean Lincoln and Catawba County, both, I remember the Page Black gang) I got almost to Main St. in Lincolnton and realized right then and there, with all things considered, there was no possible way I could take or ever could have have taken GrizzlyDevil, absolutely no way, and him being from Maiden (some of of them have that temperament, too, God's little blue acre is a pretty tough town) made me absolutely sure of it.
