Week 3 in conference play!

Bandys (2-3, 1-1) vs Lincolnton (2-3, 1-1)
Bunker Hill (5-0, 2-0) at West Lincoln (4-1, 1-1)
East Burke (2-3, 0-2) at Newton-Conover (2-3, 1-1)

I guess I'm going to go with bandy's because I can't trust Lincolnton 🤣. Then again I may switch my pic to Lincolnton unless the Lincolnton guys pay me how bad do they not want to lose 🤣🤣🤣.
I think West Lincoln beats bunker Hill they're going to come in with a bad taste in their mouth.
I'm going to say Newton Connor wins even though I really don't want them to win but East burke seems to have issues with speed.
And maiden will win very very badly could be a running clock in the first quarter

Is it kinda bad I wish west Caldwell would just forfeit the game 🤣 and I would go watch west Lincoln and Bunker Hill. 🤣🤣 But I'm maiden through and through deep blue. So I'll be there Friday night as long as there's a game

I think I fell behind alittle in the polls. Y’all post that too I wanna see. After the butt stomping I witnessed in Icard last night I’m dang near picking Bandys against everyone else. They musta shook off whatever rust they had going and are ready to look like the usual Bandys, unless East Burke has really turned out worst than I thought and just made them look good.

Bandys over Lincolnton. If Wolves pull one out on this one I’ll fall backwards. Get ready for a harder game than you anticipated. Bandys RB loves to cut flips. You’ll see what I’m talking bout if he gets hit low.

West Lincoln over the Hill. I believe they just got it but this is one game I can be dead wrong. Will come down to the wire. CVAC Game of the Week no question!!

Newton over EB. SMH Hey, just a realist. Speed kills and EB lost the fastest guy to graduation. They will still do ok on the track this spring but will it show with pads on against Newton. EB put on some good running plays against Bandys, I can’t blame the coach or coordinators on that one, Bandys was just ready even if they was smaller. Newton will look to do the same. Possibly an upset for the Cavs, we’ll see.

Maiden…… If Kicks 103 covers this I’m gonna laugh and give up on humanity

I'm going with Lincolnton over Bandys, however, if Bandys wins this game, thier coach is clear favorite for coach of the year IMO.
WL WL getting hammered by Maiden was a surprise, not sure BHHS is Maiden.
NC EB is EB...speed kills
Maiden. May be the only game I get right this week...lol....

I know what getting hammered is….and that ain’t what Maiden did to West Lincoln. 😂

It was a close game…heck… they had the lead in the 3rd quarter….Maiden took the lead at the very end of the 3rd quarter.

It was a tight game…could’ve went another way very easily.

I agree on Bandys’ coach…...I wouldn’t be surprised if they made the playoffs!

From speaking to my nephew, Bandys has changed the last few games and started playing two platoon across the line. Athletes play both ways still.

This may be why they're more dominant in the trenches

Luckily since we are playing west Caldwell the game should end fast 😂 I can get home to rest up for Saturday tour of destruction at hickory speedway... I got some 🏆 trophy's to defend on the track 🤣🤣

Maiden creek working the magic. Step up boys. The picks are getting tougher. I’d been ahead if I had more faith In the wolves cause Newton Conover is just a mystery. They hot then not.

It’s gonna get interesting down the stretch. Only guarantees is West Caldwell losing. And after Bandys game EBs stocks have lowered.

Bunker Hill (5-0, 2-0) at West Lincoln (4-1, 1-1) : After playing Maiden tough it looks like West might be too much for the Bears.
East Burke (2-3, 0-2) at Newton-Conover (2-3, 1-1) : Last Friday, our offense couldn't do anything against the Red Devils. Just before halftime we lined up in a T-formation (full house backfield). If anyone is too young to know what this is, a fullback is about five yards directly behind the quarterback and a half back to the right and left of the fullback. It lets the ball carrier run at any crease at full speed. It had some effect on N-C and seemed to tire them a little.
The Cavaliers aren't going to use a T formation since it's nearly obsolete but they play a power game so this is why I'm picking them by 7
Maiden (4-1, 2-0) at West Caldwell (0-5, 0-2) : I have to admire the West Caldwell team for their character and being school spirited and enduring one painful loss a after another. If any of their players or devoted fans read this, for what it's worth, I salute you. Maiden by 35
Lincolnton (2-3, 1-1) vs (2-3, 1-1) Bandys : Don't know what the Trojans have done differently but them playing West Lincoln close and beating East Burke decisively has made a believer out of me. I can only hope we put everything we got into it. The Wolves by 1

Side Note: An East Burke poster who is one of my favorite posters of all times, generally speaking, pinned this about our upcoming game with Bandys: "Get ready for a harder game than you anticipated"...
BFR, why the hell did you put that on there. Lincolnton has won two games by a total of 4 (four) points. Not by an average of four points but by a total. One win was by 3 points and another win by 1 point. With a record like that we can't underestimate nobody, and we have to go down there into such a hostile environment. I believe the Bandys people thinks all of us Lincolnton fans are on parole.

Oh, and Cheerduck, by the way, the one you knew wasn't ever on parole. Have to say though, if he wouldn't have made his way up there he might have been. To him Hickory was a sanctuary city.🙃

In all fairness to him I have to say that he wasn't the only one who took flight but I can't go into detail as it hits too close to home. I suppose they took their que from the Beverly Hillbillies, particularly the part that says "And the kinfolks said Jed, move away from there".

Ok….I’m taking Maiden….getting that one outta the way.

Now….these 3 humdingers…it just don’t get any better than this. Lincolnton was right…Maiden boys sitting in the catbird seat this week…where’s those roasted peanuts and a cold drink?😜

I gotta take West Lincoln at home….you just don’t walk in over at Cat Square and win these days…the Johnny’s have shown that they’re extra tough over there! Wondering if the Bear RB will play?
If he does….???? Look out!…I’m betting he does since he played a little last week.

I’ll take Newton at home….I don’t why….but I gotta feeling…so I’m sticking with it. I almost flipped a coin on this one….this is gonna be a great game in a must win situation for both teams!

This one right here is killing me….Good Lord! The Wolves have been fighting and clawing since the opening whistle of the season😂😂 and Bandys is on the rise! What a classic this one will be. Bandys has home field too…it’ll be a packed house. Wishing I could see it! Both teams HAVE to win this game and it ain’t gonna be easy.
How in the world did Bandys have West Lincoln on the ropes at their place?….how in the world did Bandys run through East Burke like they did? It was just a moment ago….that most had already put a fork in the Trojans Heck….Dad23….needed therapy😂….with his ranting….one of my losses was picking Foard over Bandys…I’d never done that in a million years😂…but the Trojans were through!😂..it was over!😂….I had West Caldwell penciled in the win column😂😂😂….now look at this mess!
I’m taking the Wolves by 2 on a successful conversion in double OT. 😉

--Bandys is rolling and is at home...and it's HOMECOMING. They're believing and they won't let Lincolnton stop em. Bandys by one score. something like 10-7

Bunker Hill (5-0, 2-0) at West Lincoln (4-1, 1-1)
--this is the hard one for me...but I gotta think since WL will be at home, and they're not banged up, and they owe BH from last year...that the State Runner Up Johnny Cat Square Lincoln Rebels of the West will win this game. By 10.

East Burke (2-3, 0-2) at Newton-Conover (2-3, 1-1)
--I think EB is a wounded buck trying to hide away...but somehow he's wound up in Newton. that ain't no place for a wounded deer. Newton lays it on in the second half with their passing attack. NC by 14.

Maiden (4-1, 2-0) at West Caldwell (0-5, 0-2)
--I'll be at Bandys watching the game against Lincolnton...no need to worry about this one. Our boys need to come home healthy and hopefully the back-ups get a lot of playing time. Maiden by 31

Lincolnton, you my man, always been one of my main men on here on the poster board for years and years. Last thing I wanna do as far as HS poster board is concerned is confuse ya with something I said so let’s clear the air here :)

Lincolnton Wolves have strong tradition that for whatever reason has been alittle down in some years due to whatever, coaching moves, athletes graduated and less athletes filling the shoes etc, happens at most schools all the time except when Tom Knotts(The Al Capone of NC HS football) was at Indy ha ha. Bandys(back to main subject at hand) has been anticipated by many even ME as a down year and a fork in em. We all guilty of figuring since they struggled with Saint, lost to South Caldwell(a team that only beat WC by 28) and all that etc, we all thought and “anticipated” this was a down year for them….but…after the tough West Lincoln game, AND them man handling EB in the 2nd half, I went on to say just in reference to all that- get ready for a harder game than you anticipated as in what we all mighta originally thought bout Bandys including maybe yourself.

East Burke had me believing in them my team after running through Patton(not a real accomplishment) and shoulda beat Freedom and did beat best Draughn team in a while in an overtime thriller and DID move the ball well at times against Maiden. The Bandys loss brought me back to reality as to what EBs capabilities are and how tough and well coached Bandys really is and I saw it all last Friday night. I hope EB can bounce back and I hope also for you guys to fight hard this Friday cause it’s gonna get rough. I picked Bandys just based on their last 2 performances. Lincolnton can win if the DBs are on point.

-Thanks BFR, I know we have to make a good effort. Teams that have made positive adjustments worry me a lot. Good luck to your Cavs against the Red Devils.

Oh, something else, Newton-Conover had us down 21-8 in the fourth quarter and we scored twice and made the extra points. Our last score came with less than a minute left.

Thanks Cheerduck, good luck against St. Stephens. This game is for the Hickory Metro championship. You are a proud Red Tornado but you have close family teaching at Stephens. I won't press you for an answer even though it seems like it could be a win-win situation but knowing you there isn't but one suitable outcome.

It conjures such awful memories. In the middle 1980's, we had some bad seasons. In one of them I don't think we won a single game. Fred T. Foard had a pretty good team that year and we had to play them at their place. The game got ugly for us pretty early and some of their contingent was yelling "Keep it rolling, Keep it rolling, don't let up, keep it rolling". Sounded like the Rawhide Intro. 🐮 :)

*I don't know how much more emotional buffeting I can stand. I might have a mini-stroke before Thursday night and show up at Bandys drooling like a mastiff. I feel your pain, Jake and Elwood.

AMD, I’m glad he remembers where he’s from even though he would do all he could to see that the blue devils beat us.
if you look at the history of our rivalry with Maiden we’ve been a pretty tough opponent.
If you beat us this year which is likely that will be (counting in my head) 7 consecutive wins. Again, if I’m counting right, it hasn’t been too long since we had a similar streak.
One might say it’s different now, with coach Byrne, but we got something coming up the road in a couple of years that might change things.
