To anyone who feels like reading tedious text: Today, I had gone to Atlanta. About 30-minutes or so up I-85, I stopped for a meal at an upscale restaurant, Burger King. While I was there a young guy told a customer who was leaving that the Wolves was one of the AP's top ten high school football teams in the nation. Thought to myself, "Son, are you pilled up ? I'd settle for a win". I kept quiet because I was a guest in another town and for some reason I can simply show up (that's all) and someone will call the police or tell the desk clerk at a hotel there's a peculiar man in the parking lot or milling around in the halls and they're afraid to go to the ice machine.
When leaving I asked an associate, there, if this is Lawrenceville? She said no, it's Buford, which is a town in Gwinnett County, adjacent to Atlanta. It gives me a sick feeling to my stomach to say it but it looked like East Lincoln, with its housing going over the horizon and its strip malls and it being one step away from urban sprawl. Before I left I read on my iPhone about their team and that they are the defending 6A champion in Georgia, and that they've enjoyed other titles and many years of success.
Couldn't help but to think, "What if that was us, not the Buford Wolves but The Lincolnton Wolves, a nationally ranked team. Wow ! That's got to feel awfully good. I don't know-some thought.
The Bible warns against arrogance, not once, but several times, and I worry if it was us would I fall victim to it. I have to say, though, I'd at least like to try it until I got to the point of being just a little snooty.
There ain’t nothing better than a fresh BK double whopper….it’s the best burger in the fast food industry!….betting Lion would agree!😂

I have family who live in Lawrenceville…50 years ago…it was as rural as East Lincoln was back then.
Remember?….when 16-73 intersection was a caution light!…I know you do.

The Queen City metropolis is gonna overtake us all!

My cousin always teases me about going down there (Atlanta) to watch some real high school football. 🤮
That area is a known hot bed for great high school football!….Buford Wolves?.. Huh? They don’t want none of that snooty Lankerton Wolfpack!❤️

Lol, MC, damn right they don’t want none of us. They don’t want the blue underworld, either.
Good luck, my friend, against the Rebs. Could be a tough one but I think that blue captain howdy will manage to get by.
speaking of Charlotte overtaking us, it seems like every month a developer is in front of city council or the county commission asking for building permits, I’m talking all the way to West Lincoln.
I wonder sometimes what twenty years from now will bring. If I’m still here All I’ll be able to do is make grunting sounds and drool and people will refer to me as “Buddy”(Buddy, give me a break). Sometimes they call me that at the doctors office). They’d really call the police on me, then.
Oh, hey, if I could offer some advice, you’ll start to notice this in about twenty five years, but when you do get old and if you’re driving on the Atlanta beltway and other motorist are blowing their horns and pulling up beside you to cuss you out, just lean forward, let your mouth gape open and kind of look down. When you do that they write you off as just another old man and they drive on. That gets you out of a lot of road rage incidents. Oh, yeah, something else, when you’re in rush hour and an attractive lady is in the car beside of you, sit up straight again and bear your teeth like when the sun is in your face so she can see that new white shiny implant in front that the dentist just put in for you.

These are predictions from CalPreps.Com:

-East Burke 31 Bandys 21
-Lincolnton 24 Newton-Conover 17
-And in the game of the week, Maiden 35 West Lincoln 31

Maiden under Head Coach Will Byrne:

2-1 at Home versus WL
Has outscored WL 219-128 (Average: 31-18)

The 7 Games Results under Byrne:
2016: M 59-22
2017: M 27-13
2018: WL 31-18
2019: WL 28-27
2020: M 21-20
2021 RS: M 20-14
2021 PO: M 47-0

The 47-0 Playoff game last year marks the only time in my records that either team had been shut out and is the second largest margin of victory (Maiden won by 48 in 2014; 55-7)

Tonight should be another tight barn burner. Good look to both teams. Keep your heads on a swivel and play through the whistle.

LET THE SMOKE ROLL!!!!!!
