CVAC 2021 - Week 9 (10/11 & 10/15 & 10/16)

BFR, it was a good game. The Cavaliers played us hard. We had them down 13-7, they came back and took the lead 14-13 then we scored twice and lead at the half 28-14. Typically we haven't been scoring much in the first half but we came out in the second half and couldn't do much. We scored once and EB scored once.
I felt like EB beat us on the line. They had some success running against us. Seems like our strength is defense but EB made us look pretty bad.
Some of our people thought the Wolves played sluggish and were flat but I think it was more of the Cavaliers efforts than us being flat. The Cavs pulled within eight points in the fourth quarter but we were able to score again.
had you been there I don't think you would have been disappointed with EB. They were scrappy and they came to win. They have a gutsy quarterback and he is pretty smart, too. He was an aggravation to us all night. The final score was 35-20
Hate I wasn’t there. You’d be the poster to meet after all these years.
You will see a lot of improvement next year From East Burke a lot more talent on the freshman and Sophomore classes!! Coach Minor said he is in it for the long haul!!But no easy games this year what a tough Conf!! Middle school has some talent just takes time to turn around a team that has not won a lot in 5 years!!
Would have been proud to meet you. I'd have walked to the visitors' side and said "It's me, BFR, Lincolnton". 
Been nice to see this historic event and of course to meet ya. I posted that these 2 schools have never met on the football field and there is less than 30 miles apart from each other. I was a tiny tiny bit wrong. Reading the News Hearald it said these schools met in 1974 when EB first opened. Hadn’t played since then. Only a handful of times has Lincolnton played a Burke co school in general anyway.Would have been proud to meet you. I'd have walked to the visitors' side and said "It's me, BFR, Lincolnton".
EL has met EB only twice. North has yet to play EB. They had their chance for a non conf matchup in 08’ from what I understand when scheduling but Beam didn’t want Shatley(Jacksonville Jags Center) embarrassing him and his boys. That’s the rumor but scheduling is a funny thing that has a lot of ins and outs that go with it, we’re just fans were not board members or nchsaa coordinators. And of course WL has had their share of EB past few years.
Funny to think the last time Lincolnton and East Burke met that we were pulling the last bit of troops out of Vietnam as they played and I wasn’t born yet ha ha
The JVs have only won 2 games, destroyed Lincolnton the other night which is whatever cause Lincolnton from my understanding never puts much emphasis on JVs anyway and that EB according to a parent I talked to that was a freshman when I was a senior in the 90s said EB jvs had some COVID issues were several players were out on those games they lost. I guess if that’s the case and that they were all back for the Lincolnton game then well there ya go. Look for some good maiden EB matchups to come
Yes with the starters that they were missing Bandy's and Maiden j v teams were able to run the middle on those early games this year!! I am like you JV teams I don't look at much but they are trying to build for the future so trying to look at some positive things Have a great day BFR
Good deal man. I was wondering what was going on with the jvs cause a coworker of mine told me bout the kids on jv now we’re the same kids that took EB middle to an undefeated season last year. And then I talked to a parent like I said and she kept me informed. To be a poster on here I hadn’t been to many games at all. None this past spring.
BFR, I recall when East Burke and Freedom opened. Seems like both teams were good. Them playing each other was a big event. I believe they called it Fat Friday. I was around in the days of the Morganton High Wildcats (would get them confused with Lenoir High who were the Bearcats). Both of the old schools were in the Western North Carolina High School Activities Association and in the Northwest Conference. Lincolnton was in the Southwest Conference. There were other Burke County schools, Oak Hill, Valdese and Glen Alpine which my buddy Cheerduck has done a lot of research on (Glen Alpine) and personally knows some of the team from back then.

BFR and BCM, one last thing about this past Friday's game, EB hit us hard. I can assure you that they came to play.
There was a lot of schools then. And when they all came together as 2 schools there was controversy and fights the first year from what i heard. Very interesting times
Busy weekend for me. Lots of football between Wednesday and Sunday.
Boys - hats off to the Blue Devils. They prepared all week, and did it show on Friday night. After that first INT down at the 5, the Blue Devils found their groove. Rhodes, Gibbs, Culliver, Sigmon and company went to work. Rhodes hooked up with Culliver on a couple of beautifully thrown deep balls. Tip of the cap to the Blue Devils offensive line. Rhodes has had all day to throw because of those big guys up front. Aside from a couple of times in each of the last couple of games, Rhodes has been able to pick apart the defense. It all starts with those guys up front.
However, for me, the story of this one was that Maiden defense. They were suffocating and all over the field. They made it tough on the Bears offense all night long. They had a Pick-6 to go along with it. The Bears just couldn't get going at all, and that defense was the reason for it.
I know the Bears would have loved to get a win to snap a long losing streak to the Blue Devils (Maiden has now won 31 in a row over Bunker Hill) and stay undefeated. But this loss to the Blue Devils shouldn't take away from the awesome season they're having right now. They still have a chance to finish with only 1 loss and possibly get a home playoff game in the 1st round. Coach Reid and his staff, I'm sure, will have these kids ready to play this Friday night against Newton-Conover.

Last week the jv squad looked like the team that beat Freedom bad since everyone was back for the first time since that game. WL is going to be tough I think on both the jv and varsity this week!! On varsity we should have a least three wins. They gave away the Freedom and Newton Conover game but the team has played tough the last two games we have got to stop the TO's that is the key.
