So its Clinton and Reidsville in the title game. No dog in this fight and dont care if both teams lose. Is Clinton a run only team as usual? (as are ALL eastern teams without exception?)

in 2A and 1A especially, a few passing teams in 3A.

Outside of Raleigh area teams, only Northeastern, Hertford, Whiteville, and Havelock have a mix of air and ground. I think Kinston also.

I think the schemes we use here maybe too complicated for most of them out there. They have to use it in the little leagues to get it accepted.

Coach always talks about taking what the defense gives them. I’m sure they want to run the ball play ball control and keep that explosive Reidsville offense off the field as much as possible but if we have to throw we can. Unlike years past we seem a lot more comfortable doing so. Junior QB Nydarion Blackwell has been efficient with the ball in his hands.

Amaris Williams, according to Maxpreps, has only 39 carries for the season for 679 yards ... but he's scored 12 touchdowns and is averaging 17.4 per carry. Can that be accurate?
It is tho the average has probably gone down over the last two games but he carried the ball sparingly during the season and majority time when he did it was for a long TD.

He didn’t run the ball much till recently with the loss of their stud WR/RB Mcclaurin.

Clinton will not get by completing one pass like ED did. They will be forced to throw more with Reidsville stopping their run game at crucial times and downs. I see several 3rd and 5-7 situations from Clinton. Will they run or throw in those situations? We will find out soon.

Here's the career stats for Reidsville senior QB Al Lee, a three-year starter:
552 completions, 812 attempts, 20 interceptions ... 8987 yards and 119 touchdowns. Those marks are among the all-time best in NCHSAA. Al is the first to credit his outstanding group of wide receivers and his OL. He's gotten some college offers, most recently from Fayetteville State.

Classmate Queshyne Flippen has caught 144 passes for 3300 yards and 46 touchdowns.

Lee, Flippen and Paul Widerman came in as heralded freshman and they have not disappointed.

You just seem to really hate those guys. With all your posts and threads, seems like even if they win vs Reidsville they won’t have your respect. Idk, maybe I’m way off base here.

Whiteville is basically run first they hardly pass. U can count on 1 hand how many times they passed in that clinton game. Hardly any so u wrong with that one

It is not a good idea to pass on the Rams secondary. Not advisable at all. If Clinton can dominate the running game and keep the Reidsville offense off the field they have a great chance to win this game. If they can't run the ball consistently, well it could be a tough day for the Dark Horses.

Saw portions of both games on NFHS Friday night, more of the Clinton game but some of the Reidsville game.

Credit to the Clinton coaching staff for making adjustments to the offense once Mclaurin went down. As others have pointed out, Clinton has been successful passing this season and can no doubt go that route if needed. I do question why instead of all the pre-snap movement they just dont line up in a wing-T look or only motion one person when running the inside toss play. A lof of their offensive penalties were procedure calls when doing motion.

Defensively, I think they are above average against the run but a little weaker against the pass. Keep in mind Clinton posters, this is no knock on your team. 15-0 speaks for itself. I know how defensive some Clinton posters get on here.

Reidsville is so explosive offensively. Playmakers all over the field. Accurate QB, receivers who can catch it and know what to do with it afterwards. Of course you have to find and account for Harrison on both sides of the ball. Defensively, they have those same playmakers and will make you pay if you make a mistake and turn the ball over.

In my mind, this game will be decided by a few things. I think Clinton will try and do what East Duplin did last year to Reidsville and beat them physically with the running game and offensive line play. Williams should get it 15-20 times minimum and be happy with 4 yards a pop each time. This will limit possessions for Reidsville. Of course there are others that can hurt the Rams and I am sure they will attempt to mix it up. Can Reidsville stand up to it from the beginning and match the physicality? That is the question. How many teams has Reidsville seen this year that run anything close to what Clinton wants to do this year and what ED did last year?

Will Clinton be able to put enough pressure on Lee, be able to tackle in space and prevent the big play when Reidsville has the ball? Will Williams be able to generate enough pressure on Lee when the Rams try to hit the screens and crossing routes? Who will win the turnover battle, and special teams?

Clinton is the best 2A team the east has to offer this year. I think they are more explosive than what ED was last year. My question would be will the Clinton staff stay patient in their game plan running the football or will they panic and possibly deviate to doing other things should the game be close or if Reidsville goes up by even a small margin? Reidsville has been here so many times and while they have a new coach, there is still plenty of big game experience on that staff.

I think Reidsville remembers what happened last year and feels like one got away. I do not see complacency being an issue this year. Clinton has been on a mission this season and is where most expected them to be.

I see Clinton breaking the Rams' hearts again this year because they will be able to run the ball and limit possessions playing smash mouth eastern style football. I will say Clinton 28 Reidsville 20.

Maybe we won't get embarrassed too bad
No one is denying Clinton is a good program and no one is saying anything about a blow out. Mule is right. Clinton has to limit Reidsvilles offensive touches. I would assume Clinton doesn't want to get into a race to score. ED did it last year. Have to wait til Saturday to see if Clinton can too

Reidsville, your backs are against the wall here.

Last thing you want is 2ndToNone saying you can't win the big one...AGAIN.

I might join in, but I wont be serious about it. I'll be mad at you for allowing it to happen.
Judging by the poll looks like most believe they win.

I know all eyes will be on #10 and rightfully so but I believe junior RB #4 Josiah Robinson can be a factor in this game offensively aswell he has big play ability. He gets overshadowed because when you share a backfield with the likes of McLaurin and Williams that tends to happen but young man is a solid RB.

55 on DL is really good

Seems like last year Reidsville never changed anything on defense to stop the run. If the defensive backs are having to make lot of tackles for Reidsville against that big back could be long night. Don't see Reidsville offense being stopped unless turnovers are a problem..
My guess is Reidsville by 10
I watched the Northeastern game today. They really shot themselves in the foot. A lot of unforced errors.

Is the Clinton game vs Northeastern on NFHS on demand?

Great analysis there Scribe. Spot on. Just for the record, I am curious as to where are you located and who is your team?

Me and Run it Up Dogs watched Clinton-NE game and i will say this Clinton will have to play a lot better than they did Friday night, looked like they were just going through the motions. If Clinton plays the same way Reidsville wins by at least 3 tds.
You were just bored with the smart game plan. Holding NE to just 22 points was a defensive accomplishment. Scoring 36 on a conservative agenda wasn’t bad either They do need to clean up the penalties but they’ve been penalized all year and played through ut
