Cleveland County

Let’s be honest, Crest is/was expected to lose to Gaffney anyway. You all just hope it is a competitive game, and Crest has a strong showing, gives a good account of themselves
.
But, when y’all “lost” last night, and looked bad in doing so, you guys were surprised and humbled. When I saw you and Sausage Man post, “Shelby, I like your new field house. It’s so pretty”. I was like, “ohhh hell”.😂

As for week 3, I will have it as a toss up. Shelby is at home, and is your chief rival. Throw the records out. Shelby vs Crest doesn’t always go as expected. You’re right, though, that is the same offensive line ,and what appears to be the same shaky Shelby D. But, Crest had no business winning last year, in my opinion.

I mentioned “toss up”, but I’m going to put the spread at 8 for Crest, though. Crest is the better team on paper. They have the veteran athlete at quarterback, 3 year starter. He may be the difference maker. No. 77 is going to wreak havoc on the Crest offense line, though.
I did like the new field house LA. That's a beautiful place over there. We spent all winter picking about that thing and to see the finished product with them lights on at night especially and that baseball field across the way. I just figured I'd tell the truth. It had nothing to do with how we looked. We all had a good long talk about all of it and thats some stuff to be proud of. But whatever bro

I won't even lie. We looked like straight doo-doo last night. We did. You are correct. Gaffney is supposed to beat us. They'd beat Shelby and Burns, and most likely KM too. I hope some how some way we improve enough in a week to give a decent account of ourselves. It's fascinating to me that we gave up a sure win against Freedom and put Gaffney on our schedule as a replacement.

You're right as well about Shelby and Crest. What is supposed to happen often does not Last year is proof positive of that. Throw it all out.

Enjoy the year man. Shelby Sucks!

Let’s see we didn’t look as we were suppose to in a scrimmage
We have things to work on
As does every team , if we came out firing on all cylinders I would be worried that we would peak.
We ran 4 plays , one more than the Eddins regular season offense.
Get your shots in now come the middle and end of year this team will be there
Gaffney is a different animal , just need to hold our own and not get injured
That’s my fear out of the gaffney game injuries and have Burns and Shelby the next two weeks.
77 remind me what he did last year against the same lineman he will face this year , he did nothing
He was sucking air by the second qtr
Sosebee is Shelby’s daddy face it
Your fieldhoise is gorgeous and will look even better when I win that Shelby raffle
BIGSAUSAGES FIELDHOUSE will be on the front of that beaut.

Rulz
If you go into the fieldhouse stay clear of the front right corner , I had a walk thru and took a whiz in that corner

That ain’t nobody naming nothing until the Shelny Lion memorial corner is established and my name (if they can find room considering we will name everything including the down marker) is emblazoned uponst my corner of the stadium

I’m trying to get the tile dude to put one of those Lion logo tiles behind me there on the corner with my name below it ! And a caption that says

Shelby Lion Corner
“He’s worthless, drools a bit and talks a little smack but he means no harm”

By the way must be lunch time at the stable if Rulz and Sausage are on! I bet they’re sitting at their desks munching on half a cheese sammich and some stale sour cream and onion chips , sipping their sweetened with equate sugar tea giggling …

I’m doing my usual “watching the dirty ankle meth heads riding by the house” daily activity trying to read their tag numbers in case “something pops off”

Honest take ! South point will be south point ! I love the fact y’all moved 33 to fullback he is going to be a load ! Blee will be blee! They will be hard to stop before it’s all said and done… give that monster Ford a chance to acclimate to FB and he’s going to be a hammer … Defense will have to hope for some stops but offensively South Point will be South Point and with Blee back there running that redbone they will be successful

Like straight garbage. QB is good , but the team as a whole is very small.

I do find it odd that you basically come on a Cleveland County thread and bash Crest and Shelby that are actually in Cleveland County. You'll read what we want you to read on our thread.

'Or you and 87SWO can start your on thread and you can meet his wife and maybe get his captain to take you on a boat ride.

The offense wasn't a well oiled machine, but we all know it will get there. Several fumbles on the center-QB exchange. Defense didn't look great. Size-wise, you were very small. Coming into the scrimmage, I thought you would route us. In saying that, we looked better than I thought we would after losing big playmakers last year. You guys will be fine this year though.

Bad. We're small, Burns is smaller than we are, and you guys are smaller than Burns. We looked terrible too, so not hating. Burns QB is very good, gashed you guys on several plays. Going forward every team's game plan will be to stop their QB. You Guys moved the ball some but had way more self inflicted mistakes than usual. Defense didn't look anywhere near last years squad, but it's the first game and everybody will get much better.

I’m willing to bet we have the most coaches on staff
The three other county teams don’t add up total to what Crest has
All will earn their money based off last night

Mauney for Burns is FAAAAAASSSSSTTTTTTTT. Good grief!
He didn't have to tuck and go much last year but we knew he could. He has matured a lot at the position and does not hold the ball long. One thing I do like about our offense so far is we get rid of the ball pretty quick. We have work to do like everyone else but I think most Burns fans knew coming into this season we were going to reload in areas. I saw kids last night trying to step up. Our middle school program has not shown the results most of us feel like they will get when they get to the high school. I saw last night as a scrimmage, nothing more. Find the positives and work on the negatives.

So what you’re saying is you don’t know how to operate your 8 foot John Boat ? Gotcha

Do you have to put a clothes pin on your nose whilst in the water to cover the sewage smell from when the pig farms septic system seeps into the creek you put that boat in to catch all those knottyheads down there in Onslow County ?

Not a chance in the world he will understand a word of this post ….

Keep posting though SWO you do bring some fun and laughs here … I mean you couldn’t count your toes and fingers and get the same number twice but you sir , make us laugh… sometimes with you but mostly at you ….

Your friend

Shelby Lion

Lol again I don't live in Onslow for the 70th time. Live in chapel Hill area smart one. Have a house in cedar point with a 60ft boat there young buck. My brother in law is a captain, so I drink my cocktails and don't drive lol You always welcome to come visit, but we don't eat McDonald's around here......

Reminds me of that old John Anderson song, “Black Sheep of the Family”. THEY LIKE TO GET TOGETHER AND TALK ABOUT ALL THE THINGS THEY’VE GOT. 🤠

That’s why the Crest guys are suddenly “the great men of peace and tranquility” right now and so “chill”. Gaffney is looming, and they will be a different animal altogether. Could get ugly, if that offensive line hasn’t progressed any.

And yes, Crest guys, Shelby visits KM next week, and a Shelby guy mentioned KM’s D looking great. Shelby didn’t have the highest of expectations coming into this season, but I still think it will be a good game.

A poster mentioned recently, Gaffney by 21 over Crest and KM over Shelby by 14. I’m taking Gaffney and laying the points, taking Shelby plus the points.

Here is an article that I found about Gaffney's last scrimmage.

Gaffney Dominates Greenville In Controlled Scrimmage At Reservation On August 7th As Both Teams Focus On State Title Runs in 2023

Gaffney — It was one of the most anticipated football scrimmages in the state of South Carolina when the HSSR number one AAAAA ranked Gaffney Indians met Class AAAA contender Greenville High in a controlled 60-minute clock running battle delayed 20 minutes due to thunderstorms that passed through quickly.

These two talented teams have numerous major college prospects from Gaffney sophomore RB Jaiden McDowell (5-10,170, 4.5) to a Beast of a junior left-tackle Sheldrick Sarratt (6-4,320) who had several pancakes in the hard-hitting scrimmage.

Greenville countered with two of the top HSSR ranked players in South Carolina in athlete Mazeo Bennett (6-0,165,4.4) and OL Blake Franks (6-5, 310) rated at the number 8 spot in the 2023 class. Bennett was used in multiple ways but he seemed most effective using his speed on sweeps. Franks had several “road grading” blocks to his credit.

The HSSR was very impressed with Gaffney senior quarterback Riley Staton (6-3, 200, 4.68) a transfer from Gray Collegiate. Staton passed for over 2,000 yards as a junior. Staton demonstrated the ability to complete several out-right passes to the far boundary during the scrimmage, making good reads with a strong accurate arm and steady feet. He should have had an outstanding senior season. Virginia Tech joins a host of power five schools waiting to see early season film on Staton for potential offers.

Gaffney WR Emazon Littlejohn (6-0,185,4.5) had several nice catches during the game, hauling in a 50-yard bomb from Staton on the Indians first scoring drive. There was no score board kept during the scrimmage but Gaffney scored three times while their stout defense held Greenville scoreless. Gaffney senior prospect OL Jake Buerk (6-4, 270) has been moved to center for this season and he played well during the scrimmage with all quality snaps.

Gaffney has a strong junior class led by Sarratt, WR Junior Smith (6-1,185) and a pair of head-hunting linebackers Andrew Ruppe (6-1, 215) and Clay Cook (6-2, 190) who led the team in tackles as a sophomore. Cook was held out of the scrimmage due to concussion protocol but he will be back very soon.

Greenville also got quality play from senior prospect OL Julis Tate (6-3, 310) during the scrimmage.

After the scrimmage the HSSR interviewed Gaffney head coach Dan Jones, starting his 14th season as the head coach at Gaffney along with Greenville head coach Greg Porter starting his 5th season at his school with 33 seniors on the roster.

Coch Jones was really pleased after the scrimmage. “Some of the short routes we completed tonight we were just taking advantage of what the defense gives you,” said Coach Jones. “If we can do that, draw them up, then we can hit them with the deep ball and Riley has a strong arm. We have to learn to go underneath first and set up the home run ball later.

“We have the potential to be as good as our 15-0 team a couple years ago but we have to avoid accidents and injuries and all that,” said Coach Jones. “We have good team chemistry for sure. This is a hard-working group with a load of potential. We have a lot of juniors back who played a lot as sophomores.

‘Sarratt and Bueck give us good push up-front and Littlejohn is a playmaker at receiver who has started his sophomore season,” said Coach Jones. “Cook and Ruppe are back at linebackers to give us solid help. Ruppe plays linebacker like he is back in the old days.”

Coach Jones pointed out in the recent 15-0 state championship season of 2021 his team stayed healthy and got some breaks when they needed them most. “If we can stay healthy and keep getting better practice-by-practice, and they understand this, this team might be there in the finals again.”

Greenville’s Coach Porter told the HSSR, “We have added a few more plays for Bennett to get him as many touches as we can,” said Coach Porter. “H is so versatile with great speed. When we scrimmaged Dutch Fork, he only touched the ball two times. We got him more involved in this scrimmage. Where he goers we go.

“Blake Franks is also a commitment to South Carolina and he is our leader in the offensive front,” said Coach Porter. “We welcomed the opportunity to scrimmage Gaffney over here tonight because it will prepare us for play in our own region. A lot of players grew up tonight and it was a tight physical battle and the score of the scrimmage did not matter to us either way.

“We need to get a little more focused and with 33 seniors we know we have to keep improving,” said Coach Porter. “We will take the humble pie from this scrimmage and use it to build on our season. What I learned tonight is that our guys are not going to quit.”

We know dude. Maybe next year we can play Blacksburg. We'll beat the breaks off of them.

Cleveland County fans should come out tomorrow night. Gaffney will be hosting the McDonald's Classic with a couple of your teams in it. Should be a fun night.

6pm Blacksburg vs West Mecklenburg
7pm Catawba Ridge vs Kings Mountain
8pm Chapman vs Shelby
9pm Gaffney vs Independence

He’s been active in this thread. He goes by a new name now. His son is now BigSausages. Chargerbacker is now Deeze Nuts. Interesting correlation with those new screen names of theirs.
