You are right good buddy.....you are a Shelby guy but support all the kids like you supported my kid when he played for Burns. It will be a great Cleveland County football game by 2 outstanding programs. I will come check you out Friday.
I have no idea who is going to win this game. Two of my favorite schools, I graduated from Shelby and taught at Burns for 25 years. Good friends with coach Greene and taught Coach D in school. Was at the 94 championship game when Burns won their title. I pull for Shelby but would not be the end of the world if Burns was to win.
Same for me 83 Shelby grad .

LOL! Well Shelby's Ship has certainly got torpedoed before and can again. Here is a memory for Shelby Fans and one of my personal favorites. It was way back in the day in 1988. Shelby had won back to back 3A titles and were going for 3 in a row. Back then the title game was played on Shelby's home field. Shelby fans just KNEW they were going to win and bag number 3. Burlington Cummings rolled into town and they didn't just beat Shelby. They obliterated that Shelby team to the tune of 41-14. The only thing missing was Howard Cosell calling the game and yelling "Down goes Shelby, Down goes Shelby, Down goes Shelby!"
Shelby is the favorite in this game for sure but like 02 said you have to throw out all common opponents. This conference we have played in is junk...some people pull starts and brag about that and some don’t. Should be a well known factor that starters are coming out snd nobody really cares. Nobody really cares about what happened in previous weeks all that matters is that Friday night they have to line up and hit them in the mouth. But Burns CAN win this game. I’m not saying they will but they can. If the weather holds true and its rains I would favor burns. Shelby has athletes but we do too. Burns run defense is suspect but Shelby’s pass defense is. All teams have strength and weaknesses. Throw it out the window, it’s Burns Shelby and a ton of playoff pressure. We shall see what happens.

Most knew we lost ton of talent, at start of year most didn't think that team would win 6 games,
But they did .I knew for one that passing attack be to much, we hadnt seen anything like that
Shelby was a pretty good underdog in that game. Cummings had College talent all over the field. They were the original sling it all over the field team.
I don't remember Shelby being considered an underdog. I just remember I was a student at Burns at the time (man I'm getting old). Ya'll beat us in the regular season and put us out of the playoffs. In that playoff game Shelby destroyed us like 28-0. Our QB was picked off I think like 6 times or something. So, I was eating some sour grapes bad! LOL! I went to that State Title game and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I had never seen anybody just blow through Shelby like that. I remember Shelby had Holbrook at QB and he was a great dual threat guy. But that QB from Cummings (Chuckie Burnette) was something to watch. Yeah, he was slinging it all over the field. As far as this Friday goes, anything can happen but I do think Shelby has the clear advantage. I would love to see the Dogs pull the upset though.
I posted that video before. You had no offense or defense. Cummings looked like they were running the spread back in those days or what was the precursor to it, with a no huddle. Ya'll are like 40 years behind them and Reidsville.

He graduated from Forest Hills. Seriously! He typically knows a lot about Monroe, too, because he’s from that area.
Welll HS football is all i watch nowadays. At my age i dont want to waste an entire weekend in front of the TV...too many other fun things to do.

When looking at the awful teams in the conference apart from E G the scores are similar....don't count the dogs out on this one my friends.
The EG game will do more good than harm come playoff time. You want games like that. You want games pushing you to dig deep and gut one out, come back and win in OT. You don’t want 62-0 with starters sitting a half and that’s what this conference offers us for the most part.
I believe that this Cleveland County battle is going to be a better game than many may think. I think that Burns will make this a fight.
I think burns is going to only play one down lineman and play 3 backers and 7 DB to cover the Shelby all world receiving group.
