I agree all of that plays apart. So when you have a player that has it all give him a fair shot. Because those type of players don’t come around to often, especially on the 2A level.

Yes it takes a combination of both. Put Travion in MH offense Starting from his sophomore year and his whole recruiting situation chang. He only has one offer going into his senior year he may get more D2 offers and maybe a FCS offer, but any FBS offer may come as a walk-on.

Over the years I would say the single biggest drawback to Reidsville players getting offers is lack of height. Just too short, particularly linemen. They like linemen a minimum of 6' 4" and we just don't grow them that tall around here.
Nearly all colleges, right or wrong, have minimium physical parameters they plug into their computers and if a player doesn't fall within those parameters they simply will not be recruited.
Sad, but true.
Lots of really great high school players never get offers because they don't fit the computer models. Not fast enough, not tall enough, etc. As former great Michigan State football coach Duffy Daughtery liked to say "I would have been a Rhodes Scholar except for my grades."

I agree I went through that with my oldest son, who was a 3x NC Preps all state linebacker 2x All Triad Linebacker. Got selected and started on the shrine Bowl team, He was the only kid on the team with a D2 Scholarship and FCS Scholarship. Everyone else had FBS scholarships he still beat them out. But at the end of the day at 5’11 the FBS schools said he was short. It’s funny because these same schools that told my oldest son he was too short wanted me to bring my middle boy who’s only 5’7 to their campus for prospect camp this past summer in which I happily declined. Not going through that again. Now they’re coming to the school Recruiting my baby boy as a Defensive Lineman and he’s only 5’11 220. As a parent I told my son don’t get caught up in the hype. They’re looking at you based off the fact if you grow past 6’1. Until then we’re not wasting no money attending D1 camps.
Travion has 126 carries for 1,338 yards rushing (an incredible 10.6 per carry) and 24 receptions for 465 yards receiving (19.4 per catch). Total of 26 touchdowns. Excellent ball security (scouts should value that as well). Also a very valuable cog on the defense. No doubt a sensational talent.
That's only a little over 10 touches per game on average - but looking back at the regular season - with 8 running clock games - his touches were limited (as were all the starters). In the Graham game, the entire starting offense only ran a dozen plays.
It might be good that the starters went into the playoffs well rested.

I fully expect Brevard to give us everything they have. But I don’t think it will be enough. My kids have studied Brevard on hudl and said they’re not mount Heritage. But still decent.
Carolina has watched plenty of games Reidsville has played in so has other schools. We all know that don’t mean they’re going to give an athletic scholarship. Watching and offering is two different things.
I think pass will get a d1 football offer soon. I’m wondering who is all being looked at right now
Yeah, camps are expensive. And sometimes they just want your money.
But one thing to remember is college coaches at D1 schools have contacts at smaller schools. Many times they call or get calls about players they don't think fit their requirements from or to smaller schools. Its like one big fraternity.
If they like a player's skills, even thought he might be a little short or a little too slow they will recommend him to the smaller school.
Would Pass entertain a football scholarship or is his main love basketball and would he prefer to go D1 there?
The goal of any kid growing up playing football should be free education regardless of the playing level. As you all have stated we just typically do not have the size that these D1 scouts are looking for. Stats help but every kid on these recruiting list have stats it’s size, speed, attitude and grades and attending camps that makes the difference. Reidsville has never had lots of D1 talent on the field but we do have lots of talent that can play other levels and that’s why we are successful. Who was last Reidsville player to get a D1 scholarship? Did Wilson get one at App or was he a walk on? I know Noel earned his as well as others who earned them but didn’t get offered out of hs.
Now to this game I expect Rams to win as I expect them to win every game but this is the big stage new for most of team and Brevard has to bring a challenge or they would not be in this game. We limit penalties I think we win by a few scores. My only complaint is that I really hope I don’t have to pay $10 for a hs game but I will be there supporting my boys. Had a nice crowd last week I expect the same this Friday. Go Rams!!!

Over the last 3 years, I think we've had D1/D1aa Talent. Wilson, Chestnut, Quiron, Lee, Canada, Green, Canada, Setliff, Harrison and several more. I think we have a couple things that go against us.
1. Muted stats. That comes from several reasons, I think. Running clocks and deep talent pools hurt the worse. You take anyof the kids listed above and stick them in program where they're the bell cow and people take notice.
2. Height. Reidsville doesn't produce 6 5 linemen and 6 plus receivers or rbs.
3. A lot of kids don't have the means to hit a lot of camps as Sophomores. Some but not all.
4. This is not a knock on Coach Teague and no one try to twist it in the wrong way. Coach can be introverted. If a college coach asks about this kid or that kid he always helps out. Hes not like some other coaches who politic and shop his players. Coach Marrs does more of that than Coach Teague and seems to be a decent balance.

I believe my son Jayron was the last one to get a FCS level D1 Scholarship class 2015. As far as FBS level I believe Raphael Chestnut was the last one to receive an offer on that level. Kenzel Doe played at Wisconsin but they didn’t offer him while at Reidsville. He got offered while attending a prep school.
Like it was said earlier if you are talented you can play somewhere may not be D1, but you have D2 and NAIA all give Athletic Scholarships. D3 is ok but they don’t give athletic money even after financial aid it’s still high. Only one who can afford to go there is players that come from rich family, low income, single moms household two parent house hold that don’t make a lot of money or you get a academic scholarship along with financial aid. The regular working family with two good incomes can’t send their kids to D3

Tarik Cohen was listed at 5-8, 170 as a freshman at N.C. A&T and didn't get much bigger his four years in college. According to the roster, he actually shrunk while there .. senior year roster listed him at 5-6, 179.
The Bears currently list him at 5-6, 181. They also list him with a bunch of yardage and touchdowns.
I was watching a NFL game the other day and the players introduced themselves and where they went to college. A bunch of those schools they called out aren't from the Power 5 or whatever it is they call those prima-donna conferences.

Great post... If Travon had played for My Heritage.this year he would have averaged at least 25 touches a game and ran over 3000 on the round he's one great athletes..I think our running back over the last two gameds had at least 60 carries for 579 yards, he will sure be missed..

Exactly -- that's why close-by conference rivals are valuable. Reidsville being the only 2-A school in the county was expensive. With Morehead and McMichael becoming 2-A, travel costs should drop.
Need better pressure than last week -- Rams got 0 sacks vs. Mt. Heritage, but that QB was quick.
I remember a fourth round game 20 years ago when the Rams had just upset top ranked Clinton in the third round.
All the Reidsville fans and some of the players could only talk about how great it would be to go to Chapel Hill in two weeks and play for a state championship.
Unfortunately Tarboro had other plans and we went down there and got our teeth kicked in.
Hope this does't happen again.

I was at that game. Clinton had a pretty talented RB by the name of Willie Parker back then I believe. Talk about a playoff atmosphere. It was electric.
