2A West Regional Final..Reidsville vs Brevard

Reidsville should also be good in basketball with Breon Pass (No. 1 in football - receiver, punter, defensive back) a highly regarded prospect. Good 3-point shooter who hits close to 90% of his FTs. Maybe Reidsville vs. Mountain Heritage in basketball???

But as usual, Reidsville will have no height to speak of.

I could see it happening but hope you all get to come visit us in basketball. We should have plenty of height this year as well. 6’9” and 3 more over 6’4” and only 2 seniors on team. Will be young but went to Elite 8 last year and hoping for more this year. Should be really deep at all positions as well.

I don't think Reidsville has had anybody 6-9 or taller since 1962-63 when they had 6-11 Paul Hudson, who went on to play some at N.C. State. Reidsville's state championship teams in 1994 and 2003 relied on speed, depth and defense.

Yes I’m sure but we move pretty well in basketball. Some of our players know the Pass kid from a lot of travel ball they have played around the Charlotte area. I assume he still plays for Team Felton. A lot of our kids have played some of the upper level tournaments and 7 or 8 of the current team have been together since about the 3rd grade. We are hoping to see some good teams coming through the school the next few years. Good luck to you all on the hardwood if you guys ever get to start. LOL

Unfortunately - I know first-hand how great your 2003 basketball team was. 10 deep and your second 5 would be starters on 90% of other teams. You had a guard, Hooper maybe??, that was really tough.

yep...that was a special BB team....I believe they beat you guys at regional game at Hickory High School right.....ended up having to beat Burlington Cummings from our own conference in that regional final...schools 25 miles apart had to travel 2 to 2 and half hours to play each other........lol...................that was actually in March of 2003....Rams went on to win state 2A title....the same school year (fall of 2002) they won the state 2AA football title...........

Another odd fact....Reidsville has won state titles in basketball in the Open Division (1924)...4A in 1973......3A in 1994 and 2A in 2003......

Yea that 03 bball team was loaded. Fun to watch. Had a couple semifinal teams since but fell short

Watch brevard play pisgah, actually brevard was best team in mtn 6 ,if the quarterback was healthy they would have beat the bears. Now about the game the rams wll shut their rush game down, look for the rams to blitz the quarterback all night long . Reidsville will win big

Rams rarely blitz. Like to go to three man line and extra back on passing plays.

The miracle in the Mud game was an emotional roar coaster for us. But no excuses to lose in the fashion we did to Cummings. We were disappointed that year. But came ready the next year to right the wrong
The biggest emotional roller coaster in that game was for the members of the Fantastic Four who left early and couldn't get back in the gate when we pulled off the miracle lol.

for those who don;t know what we're talking about....the 33 sec. video is on youtube....."miracle in the mud".....Reidsville vs. Newton Conover 2006 3rd round game...Reidsville trailed 29-24...no timeouts less than 30 seconds.....All N-C had to do was kneel down.....watch the video.............Reidsville wins 30-29....2 pt. try was no good but Rams win anyway..................

That game taught me to never leave a game (I always stayed until the very end regardless) early. Who cares about beating the traffic out anyways right? I was in the stands for that game but that was an epic memory.

Hooper's jump shot was silky smooth. I still can't believe he didn't play big time ball in the ACC somewhere. That team had a two platoon system that was just fun to watch. They literally came at you in waves. Jerome Simpson could also jump out of the gym. Very proud of my senior class to win the 2AA Football Title and 2A Basketball Title. Has any other high school done that since? Or ever?

oh yeah it's been done in NC before but it's a rare thing...................

I will admit, I missed the miracle in the mud. I work nights and had to get to work. That was the only game I ever left early in my life. I even stay to the end during blowouts. I will withhold comment as to why I left that night.

It was all for naught, no one was beating Cummings that year.

When we played NC in the championship in 2009, I bought a glass marker for my suv. I put ‘no miracle necessary’ across the rear window.

I don't think anybody has done it in 2AA since the split. In '06-07 school year Cummings won small 2A in football and 2A hoops. Definitely a rare feat.

FYI, Duke coaches were among several college coaches at the Reidsville/Mountain Heritage game.

The Blue Devils are recruiting the Rams WR/DB Breon Pass and QB Kyle Pinnix. Both are sophomores.

Don't know if they are looking at any Mountain Heritage players, but their Jr. Cole Shehan (#1) would be on my list.
I doubt if Coaches come to watch them be decoys. Show the coaches why they should offer them. Put Trey Canada in MT Heritage offense and he’s one of the best back in the state and possibly the country. He has outstanding grades and can catch and run out the backfield D1 schools would be knocking down the door to get him. WInston Salem St offered him because they know they’re getting a steal. He runs just like the RB they had this past season who had originally committed to Duke coming out of high school but didn’t have the grades. He’s now has a Pro day.

They saw what they came to see.

Hardly a decoy.

The RB had 13 carries against MH, only 3 less than the 16 carries he had against ER.

Not really decoy territory.

usually 10 price tag comes in the final....maybe 9 for this week??
a teacher at RHS told students tickets would be $10. Kids started complaining saying if that’s the case then their number of supporters would decrease cause no one would wanna pay that.

And came in second to one of the Rowan schools for the track&field championship.

Where did #4 from the 2016 team end up at? I think he was a defensive end if I remember correctly. He was a monster. Might have been 2014, can't remember.

Time will tell want it
College coaches could care less about stats.

And I should know since I have been trying to get them to recruit and sign Reidsville players for more than 50 years now.

They are looking for quickness, speed.
Well that can’t be totally true cause plenty of fast and quick skilled players has come through Reidsville and got no Athletic Scholarship offer. Hard to display quickness and skill if your not targeted enough. Besides Go look at the stats of players that has offers and tell me their stats don’t stick out. Rashad Slade had Stats- Offer from app, Jerome Simpson had Stats- offer from Coastal Carolina, Raphael Chestnut had stats- offer from Duke, Julius Graves had Stats- offer from James Madison, Wayne Blackwell had stats- North Carolina Central Isaiah Robinson had Stats - offer from North Carolina. Jayron Rankin had Stats as a runningback- offer from North Carolina Central but choose Winston-Salem St to play linebacker. The more you are targeted the more you get to display your speed and quickness. So your claim of only looking for speed and quickness isn’t true. By the way Travion Canada Is better runningback than Jayron Rankin was,Travion is fast quicker and more elusive so why did Jayron have a D1 offer in his hands and Travion don’t. Go back and look at the stats from Jayons last 3 years then go back and look at Travion stats his last 3 years. So you may say “you should know you spent the last 50 years trying to get them to sign Reidsville players “but go back and look at the history and everyone had the stats to get their speed and quickness displayed more.

Right or wrong, size of the players is one of the main factors Rams dont get showered with big time offers consistently.

Also stats are great, but good scouts pay attention to what a player does without a ball in their hand too: attitudes, blocking ability, effort running routes in plays not designed for them, etc.

I was looking back today and this regional final will be Reidsville's 13 appearance in the last 17 years. Pretty crazy and humbling we've been blessed to have that level of sucess
