American Legion Baseball 2023 Area IV teams

There will be 13 teams competing in Area IV American Legion Baseball this season. The teams are:

Western Division
Cherryville
Cleveland County
Rutherford County
HIckory
Burke County
Caldwell County
Asheville

Eastern Division
Queen City
Mint Hill
Mathews
Gastonia
Gaston Braves
Lincoln County

The national roster for teams in North Carolina have to be finalized much earlier this season. The 18 man final roster must be turned in prior to the team's first division game. In the case of Area IV that will be as early as May 28 for some teams.

The regular season starts in mid-May with non division games. The regular season must be completed by June 29. The Area IV playoffs begin on July 1 and will run through July 22

Another change for NC American Legion teams this year is that the forfeiture fee has been raised to $500. It had been $200.

It's not dead......but it is dying for sure. Very sad.

Although, there is still a good brand of baseball being played by the teams showing up in Shelby each year.
