Southern Lee 22 Thomasville 18

The Dogs played a great game tonight, especially on Defense. I believe there were two TD's called back, one on a long run down the left side line because of a holding penalty within 5 yds of the right sideline 40 yds down field. When the ball wasn't in play yet is where we had the problems, there were 6 to 8 dead ball penalties on the o-line for moving before the snap and several unsportsmanlike penalties, one of which came when we had SL with a 4th and 9 from our 24 yd line and the penalty gave them a 1st and goal from the 9 and they scored. If we cut the penalties down and play the way we did tonight, I believe we can have a good season.
Shai Wise played a good game at QB, having to step in for last weeks starter. He made several good throws. Hopefully ITJ will have the unofficial stats later.

Sorry ITJ, I didn't see your post before I posted.

I can't wait for this game I am gonna try and go to this game if I'm not working I went to last year game and it was jam packed the game was exciting bears were up early and rams battle back mike Hughes took a 85 yard touchdown maybe more for the win the rams drove but ran out of time bears defense held up and won

This year I see the rams dominating the game winning big I'm gonna take the rams

49-21 rams maybe more but the bears did lose a million seniors but they are good year in year out love this rivalry glad it's not as bad as it use to be tho with the fights and everything but good luck to The rest of your season after this game bears

East Duplin at Wallace Rose Hill

ill be the first to tell you that ED has really got their work cut out for them. WRH is very good as usual and has lost very little from last year's team. i see WRH as the definite favorite but i think my Panthers are going to at least put up a good fight against the Dogs. ED looks much better than last year but thats not saying a whole lot lol. losing to WRH is something i NEVER want to do but if we can at least make it a competitive game i can live with that. either way there should be a very good atmosphere for this heated county rivalry!

SP @ Crest

Okay girls, we have 1 month left. Make no mistake, the mighty Red Raiders are coming to the Ranch and we will take prisoners. After water boarding and interrogation, we will repatriate the Crampers to their home school districts of Lincoln County, Catawba County, Burke County, Rutherford County, Greenville County, Spartanburg County, Cherokee County, York County, Atlanta, Raleigh, Laurinburg, Fayetteville and Greensboro.

It is on like donkey kong!!

SMC Pick 'em Week 2: Games

Week 2 rolls around with Andrews surprising everybody (except maybe the Cherokee County folk :) ), but all our 30 first-week players still in contention. Considering that it's possible to score from -55 to 55 points every week, nobody did much worse than 50%... not bad for the first week of the season, and we have yet to see a perfect score.

And if you haven't played yet, it's not too late to get in! Lots of season left, lots of games to pick. Go here: http://goo.gl/forms/3eQNCPC8XB to make your Week 2 picks.

And now on to...

Albemarle @ Concord

Might as well get this started. Albemarle will be a huge underdog in this game. When I was in hs we were in the same conference and played every year. Was always a good game. But over time Albemarle shrunk in size and Concord pretty much stayed the same.
Would appreciate any Concord posters on here to give us some input. Think spiderdad is one poster I have seen on here. I'm sure they will be hungry after the loss to Kannapolis. Understand that their D is one of their strong points. With Albemarle running a new offense that could be a problem for us.
I think practice should be interesting this week after our loss to Thomasville. I think we kept our offense pretty simple last fri night in order to avoid mixups in the backfield. All in all we did a good job. Will we pass the ball more. Not sure since we have a new qb who played his first game at that position. Thought he did a good job but passing is not his strong point. When he did try to pass there was a lot of pressure on him and he just threw it up for grabs. Have to correct that. Hats off to Bird as this was his first time ever playing qb in a game.
On defense we have to shore up our cornerbacks. That's where Thomasville killed us. The interior defense was solid. A lot will depend on how bad the injury was to #21. He is one of our best defenders and athletes and we really missed him being on the field. I think at practice this week that is one area that will get a lot of attention.
I think the coaches and players have done a great job in a short amount of time getting this team ready to play. As we all know we are short handed and just have to get the most out of what we have. The injury bug could either make or break us this year.
I really don't expect us to beat Concord, but I do think the kids will be up to the challenge and give it all they have. What more could we ask for.

Interview: Josh McGee - Head Coach and Ben Skradski Reagan HS Football

Josh McGee is the head football coach of the Reagan Raiders program. A Lewisville NC native, Josh was a former prep standout QB for the West Forsyth Titans. McGee continued his playing career as a starting QB for the Rams of Winston Salem St University.

Prior to taking over the Head coach position at Reagan, McGee served as an assistant football coach for the Reagan Raiders as well head wrestling coach. After a stint as assistant coach at West Forsyth HS, McGee was hired on as head football coach at Reagan HS. From that day on, McGee has wasted no time as he's changed the stigma of that of a loosing program to one the region's top power house football teams.

I'll be asking him how he did it as well as his team's preparation for the this Friday's game at Glenn HS. Reagan quarter back Ben Stradski will also be the show as well, will talk about the upcoming game and how he plans to fill the shoes of former Raider's QB standout Jake Easter.

3-Rivers Week 2 Predictions

Purnell Swett @ Red Springs
A bad 4A vs an athletic 2A. It will be a close game, but Swett has to find a way to score. I will give the edge to Swett because of numbers.
Swett 20-18

Douglas Byrd @ St. Pauls
Former OC Scott Barbour comes back to St. Pauls as the HC of the Eagles. The Bulldogs struggled against a very good Gray's Creek team in week one. While the Eagles were shut out vs Jack Britt.
St. Pauls 13-12

Ashley @ Fairmont
Fairmont has athletes but are getting use to the new coach. Ashley is 0-2 vs Fairmont, but have improved from last year. Once again numbers can make a difference.
Ashley 19-18

Trask @ S. Robeson
I don't know much about either team but I will take the Titans.
Trask 28-6

Whiteville @ East Bladen
Coach Priest and the Eagles will get the win.
E. Bladen 28-20

S. Columbus @ W. Brunswick

It will be another long year for the Gators.
Lakewood 30-12

Week 2 Top 1A Games

We already see the message boards flowing with some of these games. But check out the four games that have Deana intrigued for the 1A Division this week.

But we also want to hear your thoughts on other games around the state involving 1A teams, as we know there are several other big games out there.

Let's hear your thoughts!

Burns at Hunter Huss

Well guess I will have to be the one to start this thread. I never did get a thread started for the Q Foundation game but we did well in the first half, then got complacent. Despite the 28-0 win we had a lot of penalties that we have to cut down on. Two touchdowns were wiped out. We can't get by with all those penalties against just anyone. But if we play our game I think we can take the Huskies. GO BULLDOGS!
