We only have two weeks remaining in the regular season. As the playoffs approach, there is a very interesting race for the number one seed in the playoffs in 4A. Of course, the top seed means a team remains at home for as long as they continue in the playoffs. It hasn't always paid off, but a top seed is a great reward for a great season and giving the top team an advantage.
The following teams are still in the running for a number one seed in the playoffs. I've grouped the teams together as 4AA/4A. I'll leave the admin numbers up to those who are a bit more familiar with the division of classes to explain some possible scenarios.
This list is compiled with a couple of assumptions.
First: With the number of teams still in consideration, I'm making the assumption a top seed will report an undefeated record. Therefore, a team like Pinecrest, who has a conference loss to Scotland, could post a 9-1 record, yet not be a top seed.
Second: Page and East Forsyth will go west and Richmond will go east. Of course, things can change, depending on who's in the playoffs and the state dividing line.
The teams in consideration for the top seed are below, along with the opponents remaining on a team's schedule.
Page and Dudley have a huge game coming up. Richmond appears to have the toughest road to the top seed with their remaining schedule.
