Lincolnton 37 Maiden 12

Usually when Lincolnton wins decisively none of us make a thread unless it's a big game. This one was for second place in the Southern District 7 Conference and, of course, was a big game for us.

This isn't meant to bug our neighbors, who are just eight miles up the road, but our guys played well, tonight, on offense and defense. I wanted to say congratulations to the Wolves and say thanks for a good effort. Hope we can keep it up.

Good luck to the Blue Devils from here, on. Every time I go there to a game they seemed to have improved the sports complex.

Side note: To whomever the man was taking tickets at the visitors' gate I wanted to say thanks for letting me go back to my car and get my stadium cushion. I explained to him that the bleachers were wet and I didn't know if my aged and boney posterior was up to sitting on the aluminum seat for four quarters. He asked how old I was and I told him I was a hundred. Thanks again.

Go Wolves

Wallace Rose Hill 28 Clinton 14

Wallace Rise Hill 28 Clinton 14 - Wallace Rose Hill just the better team tonight no excuses . We did the same thing to them last year and it worked out pretty well for them. To our western brethren that may refer to WRH as a little 1A team I say get your AD to get them scheduled for and endowment game next year and let us know how that works out. Hats off to the WRH Bulldigs . Good luck in your playoff journey. I predict another state title for you. To our Horses lift up your heads, the season has just begun

Rocky River Conference update

Headed down the stretch, here's how things stack up:

Monroe 8-0, 2-0
Forest Hills 6-2, 2-0
Parkwood 4-4, 1-1
West Stanly 3-5, 1-1
CATA 4-3, 0-2
Mount Pleasant 3-5, 0-2

This weeks Matchups:
Monroe @ Parkwood
West Stanly @ Forest Hills
Mount Pleasant @ CATA

Looks like Monroe will run the table and finish 11-0. Forest Hills will be 4-0 headed to the showdown with Monroe, but I don't believe anyone in this conference will challenge Monroe. I expect FH will finish 4-1, as they play CATA and West prior to Monroe. Mount will rebound this week at CATA, where they will be in a battle with Parkwood next week for the 3rd spot in the RRC. CATA has fallen hard off their cloud. I do not expect them or West Stanly to win again this season.

Thoughts....

***** I'll Have You Know******

First off, I witnessed an awesome football game last night. I'm glad the score ended in Crest's favor and all that jazz.

I took the time last night to look around that place. There had to 10 to 11 thousand people there. Biggest crowd I've see at one of these games and there have been big crowds at all of them. I saw two fantastic football teams. Get it straight, two fantastic football teams.

That game had it all, Good Lord, it had it all. when Crest went down 33-32, I looked around at my friends, and they were smiling and I was smiling, heard one say out loud "That's a hell of a football team over there, pointing at Shelby.

Everybody does not have that stuff. Cleveland County represented last night. I'm glad we won, but in all reality it just feels like time ran out to me. Both those teams laid it all out there on the grass in front of us. Every ounce, they left it out there.

Those were two great football teams, they put on a show.... Much Respect for Shelby..

Go Chargers!

Forestview at East Gaston

Post by popular demand (from my friend Sasha). I think East Gaston takes this game. Our offense is clicking and hopefully we can play enough defense to slow Moe down. We can be a little helter-skelter, but I hope we get the good Warriors this week! We have a good football team, we might ruin someone's night in the playoffs.

MAC Final week

TC Roberson at Enka: Roberson comes out with a win in the final week of the year. Despite finishing the year with a 3-8 record, its likely the Rams will get a first round home game for 'winning' their conference championship by winning 1 game against McDowell. Enka has one more game, Roberson has 2. Roberson by 21.

North Buncombe at Reynolds: North Buncombe had a little dose of reality last week with us and it gets even worse this week. Reynolds will win this by as much as they want, North Buncombe wasn't was I thought they would be. Reynolds 63-10.

Erwin at Asheville: This game kind of lost some of its luster from the last couple years when Erwin started off 9-0. This game is still the game of the week (although there isn't much competition) and its senior night at Asheville high. I expect we will try to run it down Erwin's throat, but Sexton will have something up his sleeve. Still shocked at how little we have thrown the ball with our wide receivers. In the next couple weeks a team is going to stop our run and then we are going to go into desperation mode and throw it and it will be terrible because we haven't thrown it all season. Just like what happened against Weddington last year and last year we threw it more. Last week was a perfect opportunity to work on our passing game and resemble some sort of balance on offense. In the first game of the year Brewer makes 2 catches and had 2 touchdowns. The fact he has less than 9 catches since then is absolutely mind boggling to me. We are lucky we didn't get Reggie and Christian hurt worse against North Buncombe as much as we run them between the tackles. Its not a coincidence all 3 of our backs are hurt when we let teams tee off on them.
Isaiah Drummond, McDaniels and Hutchins should be on the field every play on defense this week because if we keep what we have back there right now we will continue to get beat deep and give up big plays like last week and the week before that. Damien Ferguson is more than capable of putting up big numbers, but I am sure he is still having nightmares of Jose Daniels from last year. Obviously everything starts with Austin offensively and if there is a 3rd down, that's where Ferguson is going. Not sure if Erwin will let Isiah Poore touch the ball this game, but he is someone that could do some damage. He needs to come play for us next year. God knows he wouldn't have to worry about getting the ball at Asheville high haha.
Both of these teams are looking for a better seeding in this game. Asheville is looking at a 4-5 with a win. Erwin would get a 7-10 with a win I believe. The 3AA west is shaping up to be one of the hardest brackets I have ever seen if Crest does indeed go big. You could have Reynolds, Asheville, South Iredell and Weddington all in that bracket. Cuthbertson and Erwin wont be easy outs for anybody either and they will be double digits seeds. Guess we will know in 7 days.
Asheville 35-21.

Havelock(10-0) vs Jacksonville(7-2)

This should be a great game jacksonville a senior night also a conference game Jacksonville only conference game lost came to west craven so even with this win or lost Jacksonville should be in the playoffs but I believe havelock will win this game 42-14 great game to play heading into the playoffs good job cards on turning last year around cards everyone says havelock plays terrible oppeanents no one can question their schedule this year
