Mooresville led 17-14 at the half but could not add anything to it the rest of the way. Myers Park fell on a Mooresville onsides kick attempt to start the second half and quickly drove downfield to take the lead 21-17. The Mustang offense played a decent game, I thought. Their defense gave up some big plays but did have 2 pics and a fumble recovery on a high snap. Mooresville lost their starting QB midway through the 3rd quarter. Mooresville also botched a fake punt inside their own territory. Myres Park did a fine job and displayed some class by taking a knee inside the Mooresville 5 to end the game. Good luck to them next week. Mooresville ends the season at 8-4. See yall next year!

as i watched cherokee play Andrews last night I couldn't help but think of how good both teams were for how small their schools are (around 300 kids) . Big lines good qbs and above average athletes on the field . The kicker is when they switch from offense to defense only about two from each team come off the field then they go back to war. This is old timey football played at best. Both teams have 25 or less players and all the kids enjoy the game. Qbs arent coddled they go play defense. Kickers are lineman that just blocked for the td ... It was cold and just a good night of football. Glad we live in a place that still enjoys this as the stands were full.

This will be the 3rd matchup in 3 years. Any thoughts?

I think it will be a good close game. Starmount is young with 6 sophomores starting. It seems the Rams have finally found a consistent kicker the last 2 games. Two great programs clashing again!!

I ran up on this article in The Hickory Daily Record online. It was published earlier in the week and concerned Maiden moving last night's home game with North Surry, to Bandys High School.
The article mentions this as being the third time Maiden has played a home game at a neutral site.

Side note: the article quotes Maiden athletic director Caine Houser. I didn't know he was the AD, there. Seems like the last time I heard of him he was playing baseball for Cherryville Post 100, back in the early 90's. Just wanted to say congratulations to him. I hope he likes it there and they like him, too. His Father was a past Principal at Lincolnton High School. Here is the link in case you'd care to view it:

Well Newton barely lost to Wilkes Central. The rest of the conference took care of business. East Lincoln made the conference look weaker than it is in my opinion and that is showing now.

Lincolnton @ Reidsville - Lincolnton took Lexington be hind the woodshed 40-0. Reidsville took down E Rutherford. This is a nice matchup between storied programs.

Maiden @ Monroe - another woodshed for Maiden over N Surry 48-15. Monroe destroyed Forbush and is everyone's Favorite to win it all. I could see this game being somewhat close, however if I'm being honest I think Monroe will whip Maiden soundly. They're just too big, fast and too 3A with 1131 students... smh.

West Caldwell @ Franklin - West took down the much higher seed Ashe County 26-24. Franklin blanked RS 29-0. This game could be close and interesting, However, Franklin is an impressive bunch and should win this one.

Wilkes Central @ East Lincoln - East did what ever they wanted against Smokey Mtn for a 54-7 win. I heard they fumbled the ball into the endzone for touchbacks three times in this game and still put up 54 points. W. Central knocked off Newton. I'm hearing Wilkes has some athletes and they only lost twice all year. I hope they have some athletes and better try to find some more or they will take a serious butt whipping.

I for one am looking to see how cherokee responds from finally having things click a little. We cut down the turnovers and our rb stays healthy I think we got a chance based on last game

the link under football has some scores....but just about all the games listed have the wrong team visiting or at home....looks like it's all backwards....why does it take so long to get scores listed?? This the playoffs...it's midnite and only a handful of scores are even listed....plus I keep hearing conflicting scores between this site....newspapers and tv.....In this day and age with computers...things should be simpler...NOT more complicated..................................
