Ashbrook?

Can anyone tell me about Ashbrook this year. Forest Hills starts the season again against them this time at home. Last year we beat them at their place 55-12. They looked really talented but had a lot of trouble stopping FH. Not sure what their issue was. 🤔

Thoughts and Scores to note

How does a fan whose team won by 50 to 14 not feel great?
Yes Mt Airy won going away. However, anybody that thinks North Surry is not good, and capable of being really good, just did not see the game I saw. First, the fastest player on the field was NS # 3. And has talent. Where is the portal when you need it?
Their QB can throw the ball accurately. Running game can, and I predict will, improve. Big line! and will most likely get better with experience.

My advice to every other team and fan base that will face North Surry, you better be prepared. They could easily run the table the rest of the year.

Tarboro 30 Rocky Mount 0. while not the biggest surprise, but isn't Rocky Mount a 3A school? Yes. I just looked it up.
Way to go Tarboro.

Starmount 43 Trinity 0. Trinity is a 2A and while not very good, apparently, still Starmount hung a goose egg on them.
South Stanley 16 West Stanley 10. Ok this is not a world beater but South has struggled the past several years and 2A West Stanley has been a very competitive school. Just a nice surprise and hopefully a sign South is rising again.

North Rowan 46 East Rowan 6. Again a really tough 1A laying the wood to a 3A team. 2nd year coach said on HSOT interview that they were excited about the coming year. I would say YEP.

Mountain Heritage 54 Chase 0. Football Guru Chris Hughes projects Mountain Heritage to come out of the West to face Tarboro. Well, they made 2A Chase a believer.

East Wilkes 34 West Wilkes 6. East and their 2nd year head coach appear to moving rapidly up the ladder with a solid win over 2A West.

But just to me, the score that we all, including Guru Chris Hughes, should see and take note of, is this one:
Eastern Randolph 29 vs 3A Eastern Alamance 0.
Want to talk about a team being battled tested come playoff time? OMG.

Big South 3A Conference Predictions

The Big South will be highly competitive in the top half of the conference this season. It will be extremely difficult to run the table undefeated in the Big South this season. This era of the Big South has been dominated by the CC teams who have won the conference title every year but this could be the year that a champion emerges from Gaston County. I will revise my predictions again after scrimmages.
1. South Point- The raiders will be really good and this version of the redbone will be faster and more athletic on the perimeter.
2. Crest- This version of the Chargers will be led by a really good defense and a workhorse at running back. The perfect formula for playoff football.
3. Ashbrook- The Greenwave will be the most physically imposing and athletically talented team in the Big South. Many people around the program believe this is the best Brook team in years. Week 1 against Forest Hills will let us know if they are for real or some toy soldiers.
4. Kings Mountain- This version of the Mountaineers will be tall, athletic, and rangy on defense while being led by a strong o- line on offense. Returning two good kickers. Solid team in all three phases.
5. Hunter Huss- A very fast athletic group in the skill positions. QB extends plays and is hard to get on the ground. Defensive backfield is loaded. If the Huskies get some adequate linemen watch out. Huss will definitely pull at least one big upset against one of the top teams.
(6)North Gaston- There is excitement in the program but NG lost a lot of production from last season. NG have a couple of kids that will compete but just doesn’t have enough of those guys yet. A good coaching staff such as theirs will attract players in the upcoming years.
(7) Stuart Cramer- off-season transfer portal wasn’t kind to a struggling program with some pretty good young talent.
(8) Forestview- The Jaguars were a one man band that looks like that it may not have the one man back. It’s going to be a long year for the View.

AC @ Shelby

Well lets get it started....
Shelby comming off a great win vs Kings Mt. 32-16
Lots of things to try and clean up this week, One is penalties two is turnovers.
Start of summer practice O-line and Defense was going be a Question Mark.
In preseason scrimmage our Oline was not good at all.

But coaches have done wonders in 2 weeks.
Then theres our D, our front 7 are really good, some bend dont break apply.
This week will be a test, before big match up with Crest.
Ac lost go West this week so im sure they be hungry...

EMS/Fire at games?

To not get anyone in trouble but still get some answers, I won’t give exact details on the situation.

On Friday night, I attended a high school football game in Eastern NC. During the game, a player was injured. After athletic trainers and other staff assessed the kid, it was deemed that he needed medical attention via EMS. Here’s where it gets interesting…

EMS was not stationed at the game like I’ve ALWAYS seen in the past. Instead, the kid had to lay on the field for 30+ minutes to wait for medical staff to be dispatched and arrive to the school.

My question is, is this normal practice where you usually watch games? I’ve never seen it.

Also, prayers going up to the kid injured. Hope his injuries were not as bad as they seemed and he makes a full recovery.

MAC Week 2 Predictions

Overall, it was a pretty lackluster week 1 for the MAC. Reynolds and Roberson struggled on offense, while McDowell couldn't stop anyone. Some good games this week.

Asheville @ Providence Day

It's a whole different animal this week for the cougars. They looked good against Tuscola with McDowell transfer Ellis scoring 4 TD's. Providence Day will look to rebound after losing to Weddington. This could get ugly.

Providence Day 49
Asheville 14

Enka @ Pisgah

Enka was impressive in week 1 totally dominating Owen. The bad thing is, Owen is one of the 2 or 3 worst teams in WNC. Pisgah lost to an excellent Brevard team and should win this one fairly easily. If Enka keeps it close or pulls off the upset, it will be a good year for the Jets.

Pisgah 28
Enka 14

Erwin @ Mountain Heritage

This is one of the top games in the state this week. Erwin thrashed Daniel Boone and Heritage ran all over Chase. Can Erwin stop the powerful rushing attack of Mountain Heritage? Can Heritage stop the prolific passing game of Erwin? Should be a terrific game but Heritage is too strong at home and up front.

Mountain Heritage 41
Erwin 28

Mitchell @ McDowell

The Titans couldn't slow down the rushing attack of RS and had trouble up front and on special teams allowing great field position and a long Kickoff return TD. The passing game looked good as they passed for 200 yards but struggled to establish a ground game. Mitchell will be much better on defense than RS and McDowell will likely struggle to score.

Mitchell 34
McDowell 14

Owen @ North Buncombe

North was so close to winning week 1 but lost late. Owen was hapless and will struggle to win a game this year.

North Buncombe 41
Owen 7

Reynolds @ Shelby

It doesn't get any easier for the Rockets. Shelby beat Kings Mountain in week 1 and will be hard to stop, especially at home. Could the Rockets start out 0-4 with their tough schedule?

Shelby 28
Reynolds 20

Roberson @ East Rutherford

Roberson couldn't get anything going against a good Watauga team. They can't overlook a much-improved East Rutherford team. This could be an upset but the Rams win a close one.

Roberson 21
East Rutherford 14

Ashbrook

Man that Ashbrook team that i saw play last Friday night is a scary team. they have so many weapons on both sides of the ball.
The Offense looked good, a great Oline and run game, A young QB with a Huge arm and receivers that can stretch the field.
The Story of this team is The Defense. Hands down the best Defense I've seen in a long time and that Linebacker C. Gordon #5 is the best LB ive seen play in years. look out for the Greenwave this season

Bunn v Whiteville 8/23/2024

Pack wins 37-7, nice offensive showing from the Pack over 350 yards on the ground and TD pass added for good measure. D played well too. A breakdown on kick off coverage that Will Fisher stopped on our 10 yard line with a tremendous effort(run down) from all the way across the field, he saved a TD on a scoop fumble recovery by Bunn earlier in the game. Look forward to what we can do at home against West Brunswick this Friday. Go Pack!

Tarboro Football 2024-25

With the season starting real soon & summer workouts starting in about a month Tarboro will be ready to make another run for eastern champions & hopefully to take back over as the top team in 1A ball. It won’t be easy even though Tarboro will still be a powerhouse. They’ll be returning several starters (8 defense 9 offense). With the oline & all 3 starting RBs coming back on offense then it will still be dangerous. Tyler Powell will be a factor also with him taking over at QB. The defense will be strong up front but questions remain in the secondary as Omar & Isaiah headed to play College ball. Jhalen Pharr-McNair(Buff), Caiden Everette & Brandon Jones will more than likely fill those shoes. The JV team will be returning majority of their roster other than the upcoming 11th graders that’s coming up. With the edition of Havelock this year the non conference schedule is going to be a good one. SWE will return a lot also & that game will be nothing less than spectacular!
