For as long as I remember going to the annual game, it has always been called Function at the Junction unless you are in Tarboro, where they have dubbed it another nickname. Can anyone give me the history of why it's called Function at the Junction?

Big rivalry game, haven't played in a few years since dropping down. Good win before conference play. Also update on last week, apparently we lost to Lexington 39-14... game was postponed to last Monday.

Whats been going on with Wilkes Central? Thought they would be a better team than last year. And i hear kids are not playing for some reason. I will say East Wilkes by 18. Any thought or Predections?

At the kickoff of the season, everyone's all very eager over the hottest team in NC—speedy, strong, and as big as their egos! But come playoff time the giants fall flat on their face. It’s like watching a soap opera where the underdogs steal the show and the front-runners trip over their own shoelaces, leaving us all wondering if anyone's been checking the fortune cookies for the real champion!

Rams first home game. Rams should be fine, but I feel Rockingham could push the rams with the familiarity of Coach Rob. But I would be hoping for at least a 34-7 or 34-0 type game

Statesville came off a good win over Lake Norman 28-21. South lost to Porter Ridge 34-12. Looking back last year Porter Ridge won by bigger margin. Not sure how much they improved but going with Statesville in a big win. Any thoughts

Not really much to say about this one leading up to it. The home team SHOULD win this one going away. SWE is a better team, but turnovers can give the game to underdogs in a hurry. As long as we leave the turnovers in the locker room, it should be a comfortable victory.

Nothing less of a blowout imo. I remember in the early 2000s when this was the game circled on the calendars & SWE was the stat game. Man how have times changed lol

Alright, we found out a bit more with the conference this past week. Now things start to get serious. They say you improve the most between game one and two, then find out who is really who in week three... let's do this!

North welcomes Davie to Welcome (hehe), not necessarily a friendly place for war chickens, and both are trying to sort themselves out. Davie was obliterated in opening week by Mooresville and followed it up by losing to rival West Rowan. Now they get another old rival in North Davidson and they may be licking their chops at facing a much smaller school to right the ship. North has played good defense at times and had trouble finishing on offense the first two weeks, is this where they iron out the kinks? Stay tuned...

Oak Grove played West Forsyth even for a half and then got snowballed in the second. They look to pick themselves up against Ragsdale who is looking better this year. Kudos to OG and ND for scheduling tough opponents in the non conference to prep for conference. OG has owned Ragsdale the past couple years but this Tiger team looks upgraded, we shall see.


Central has found the going rough against quality opponents but now they get to face off with bitter rival West Davidson. The Dragons look much improved and hungry to prove themselves after years of ineptitude. They pounded Ledford in a shocker nobody saw coming and now get to try for a win against Central for the first time in recent memory. Always a classic brawl with high tension and emotions.

Ledford was expected to lose against Glenn but after getting a thorough whipping from West they have only scored 6 points in two games... the defense which is usually their strength is nowhere to be found. Is Wheatmore what the vet ordered for the kitty cats? Wheatmore barely lost to West, but comparative scores mean nothing. Ledford better find the matchups or its the start of a long season...

Montgomery Central has two wins and looking for another against Webb. They won last year and look to take another step forward this season.

Asheboro has looked much better and gets to rest a week before strapping it back up. Is this the year they end their conference losing streak?

John Curtis Christian a team from Louisiana will take on Rabun Gap. Interesting matchup but have no clue as what JCC has. Sure is long distance to play football. Does anyone know what the furtherest distance a N.C. team has ever traveled for sports. Any thoughts?
