MAC Week 2 Predictions

Overall, it was a pretty lackluster week 1 for the MAC. Reynolds and Roberson struggled on offense, while McDowell couldn't stop anyone. Some good games this week.

Asheville @ Providence Day

It's a whole different animal this week for the cougars. They looked good against Tuscola with McDowell transfer Ellis scoring 4 TD's. Providence Day will look to rebound after losing to Weddington. This could get ugly.

Providence Day 49
Asheville 14

Enka @ Pisgah

Enka was impressive in week 1 totally dominating Owen. The bad thing is, Owen is one of the 2 or 3 worst teams in WNC. Pisgah lost to an excellent Brevard team and should win this one fairly easily. If Enka keeps it close or pulls off the upset, it will be a good year for the Jets.

Pisgah 28
Enka 14

Erwin @ Mountain Heritage

This is one of the top games in the state this week. Erwin thrashed Daniel Boone and Heritage ran all over Chase. Can Erwin stop the powerful rushing attack of Mountain Heritage? Can Heritage stop the prolific passing game of Erwin? Should be a terrific game but Heritage is too strong at home and up front.

Mountain Heritage 41
Erwin 28

Mitchell @ McDowell

The Titans couldn't slow down the rushing attack of RS and had trouble up front and on special teams allowing great field position and a long Kickoff return TD. The passing game looked good as they passed for 200 yards but struggled to establish a ground game. Mitchell will be much better on defense than RS and McDowell will likely struggle to score.

Mitchell 34
McDowell 14

Owen @ North Buncombe

North was so close to winning week 1 but lost late. Owen was hapless and will struggle to win a game this year.

North Buncombe 41
Owen 7

Reynolds @ Shelby

It doesn't get any easier for the Rockets. Shelby beat Kings Mountain in week 1 and will be hard to stop, especially at home. Could the Rockets start out 0-4 with their tough schedule?

Shelby 28
Reynolds 20

Roberson @ East Rutherford

Roberson couldn't get anything going against a good Watauga team. They can't overlook a much-improved East Rutherford team. This could be an upset but the Rams win a close one.

Roberson 21
East Rutherford 14

Reidsville @ Western Alamance

Bottom Line is the goal is to win state titles and they are pretty good at doing that. The goal is not to play the toughest schedule….
Grimsley has 3 non conference slots with the 10 game schedule and 8 team conference. Current contracts are Mt. Tabor, Rolesville and Reagan. All 10 games are 4A opponents.
I read that Reidsville's schedule is weak almost every year but the stats suggest that isn't always true. Reidsville's strength of schedule last year, according to Brian Simmons, was 7th among 2A schools. I doubt if it will be as strong this year because, as stated, the non-conference schools are definitely down this year.

Bunn v Whiteville 8/23/2024

Pack wins 37-7, nice offensive showing from the Pack over 350 yards on the ground and TD pass added for good measure. D played well too. A breakdown on kick off coverage that Will Fisher stopped on our 10 yard line with a tremendous effort(run down) from all the way across the field, he saved a TD on a scoop fumble recovery by Bunn earlier in the game. Look forward to what we can do at home against West Brunswick this Friday. Go Pack!

How does South Caldwell look this year? I can’t look at that WC game they played and gage anything on that. I’d be curious if they’ve caught up with West Caldwell in the overall series since the 70s with all those wins against West since the mid 2000s and on

CVAC 2024 - Week 1 👀

The years I played varsity as a junior and seniors years 2014-2015 and 2015 - 2016. junior year season we went 3-8 and 2-6 in conference but we played Cleveland county teams very tough coemption down that way. My senior year we was 8-6 and 5-3 in conference and we made 3rd round playoffs. When they opened up Draughn it really hurt EB. EB hasn't really had that bad of coaches in years past I was coached by the Legend TOM BROWN one of the greatest coaches to ever coach the game I was lucky to have such a great coach. 3 years before you can came in well before that the conference wasn't really weaker they played some of the same teams like maiden , west lincoln, Newton Conver, West Iredell was decent then , patton was pretty decent they beat EB 63-0 year of '17 I think, Bunker Hill, Hibriten was really good so they playing some of the same teams.

But I will agree EB has never been a team to let down and give up. Don't get me wrong I hope they win some games and even upset some teams but it will be tough they better hope they stay healthy and not end up like last season. I do like what I see on defense so far will see how it really looks when we play Freedom this week. Both Offense and Defense
I'm a tom brown disciple. Me and Tom talked all the time when his wife was sick. And would talk football constantly.

Cleveland County

No one needs to bow down , just giving my opinion on the game and how some KM fans act on here after a loss.
You have your opinion I have mine that is what makes the world go round
You threaten all the time what you can say or post on here regarding Crest , KM ain’t no angel when it comes to KM football or fans
0-0 is a lot better than 0-1 my friend
Will we lose maybe
I’ll take our chances with this team.
KM fans get so dang defensive when you question anything about KM geez.
Not having a state championship in Cleveland County will make you a little sensitive lol

Lake Norman vs Statesville

From a distance, one would give Statesville the edge-playing in Greyhound Hollar, home crowd, etc.

However, upon closer inspection, those kids at Lake Norman have just been quietly doing their job, and not many people expected them to give North Mecklenburg a whupping.
I kind of expect the Lake Tide to keep on flowing this Friday and wash the Greyhounds in a close but not warm bath.

Ashbrook?

A friend of mine used to coach at a feeder school for Ashbrook, he always said that the talent was unbelievable but just could never seem to put it together. This thread struck my curiosity, so I asked his opinion on what holds back not only Ashbrook, but Gaston County (other than SP) as a whole.

1. Too many schools. He said that if Forestview and Stuart Cramer did not exist, it would be better for everyone.

2. Lack of sense of community. He said that unlike places like Cleveland and Lincoln Counties, very few, if any, kids dream of playing for their local high school because kids are always on the move from school to school, or at the youth level, team to team.

3. Lack of support not only from school administrators, but the county as a whole. Too much movement year to year with administration makes it hard to establish a culture in the building.

4. Too many recycled coaches, not enough qualified coaches. Especially ones making a jump from the youth levels to high school. Said high schools will hire these guys just for a player to come to that school.

5. Too much player movement. He said that if the group he had at a few years ago at the feeder school would have stayed together, that Ashbrook would be even better off.
Pretty spot on assessment.

And EB lost a lot of talent last year to graduation they got their hands full this year

CVAC 2024 - Week 1 👀

This year is different looks like they are passing the ball more, better talent than in the past. The last couple of years we lost the games on the defense late TD passes late in the game. With the players you have had the last few years that have had no QB that that can throw the ball we do now the somp QB if he stays healthy. I have a son playing there but we move in three years ago but I am happy with what I see so far, we have a tough conference. I look back the last coach only won a couple of games and the conference was weaker so looks like EB has always been bad you can beat a dead horse or we can see what happens this year! Go Cavs!!

Last year Carson had 7 carries in the game. Suspect that number will be matched in the first half. Main thing to keep an eye on will be QB play and how the defense looks this year.
You meant quarter right? lol Kid is a bruiser. I don't take jamborees too serious myself so the little bit of time Crest got to play didn't tell me much. Burns had to get settled in against FV and looked pretty good but Crest will be nothing like that.
