The thing about football is, it doesn't matter if the offense is predictable that has been proven by the success they have had over the years. Let's just be honest about why the game was close. They had a new center playing that had several bad snaps that threw the timing off on several plays. The QB was 9-12, throwing the ball. They can throw the ball when they want to, but their identity is hard nosed running the ball. 71st gave up several big plays in special teams that kept them in the game. I think all of that is fixed moving forward. Richmond is also much improved from where they have been the last couple of years. How long did anyone expect Richmond to be down before they came back up? 71st should have blown that game away when they were up 21-6. As far as being susceptible to the passing of other teams, other than Hickory in last year's State Championship game who has been able to win throwing the ball against them? Hickory? Hickory had 4 legit WRs that would give anybody fits. Even in that game Hickory won because they ran the ball well and picked up short yardage conversions and 71st had several penalties in critical points of the game.

SMH. Not trying to be funny but learn to read and research the topic. They sued against the State Board of Education and the Department of Public Instruction. NCHSAA wanted to allow athletes to profit from NIL. The republican controlled board didn't want public school athletes to benefit only private school athletes. The republican controlled board put limitations on the NCHSAA. Only reason i'm mentioning republicans is because this SB 452 was a republican lead senate bill that targeted the NCHSAA.

The slander of Que Tucker/NCHSAA has to stop. They have done a very good job in advocating for NIL for public school athletes.

Easily the best game in the State Friday Night.

Davis had a great night and has a bright future. We are a very young team but not young like "tHe mIgHty yUNg mOUNties" young. I don't know about Friday but I would be very surprised to not see #23 out there for this one. The defense last friday stepped up big time with him absent. Great adjustments and kept FV under 100 yards. Crest will be a much bigger battle.

A lot of underclassmen and some freshman who looked good the next 2-3 should be exciting for them

my guess is SC will be looking for a new FB coach after the season......I'm not sure they win a conference game.

Marshall McGowan didn't suit up Friday. I'm sure it's a game time decision this week. I haven't heard one way or another. Sophomore Max Davis had an interception and a fumble recovery to go along with 7 tackles (2 for loss).......and a rushing TD.

New High School coming for Iredell County out off Withers Creek Rd., but Im hearing that no money was allocated for playing fields. Stay tuned for that one. Mooresville will try to avoid building another HS at all costs, so I’m told. Something about getting mixed up with the Iredell-Statesville school system, which no one wants.

Went to the KM/Shelby game but hoping to go another county rival game. Who was Burns missing last week and will he be back? Who stepped up and led the defense or was it a group effort? Hopefully everyone is healthy because I would like a good game to watch. It’ll be interesting to see how the new players and coaches will mesh for Crest too. Shelby has a good one this week too so that’s an option as well.

They had their struggles first quarter till they went 2 deep in pass coverage and then they shut that down. You will not run against the bears. So it was just like two years ago but mount airy strength is not first quarter it is second half after all that strength wears you down. It has happened to ER two years in a row. I am glad to see the doubt from some but to hold the greyhounds to 132 yards total offense should tell everyone that come playoff time that defense will be even nastier. I am like the tarboro fan, until the bears lose they should be number one no matter what others do. They will get their chance at bears if they keep it up. Go Bears!!!!

Polls are fun , always are. I’m looking to that mountain heritage / robbinsville game. I can agree with Rex a bit but I also believe we seen a much better North Surry team than we are used to seeing. I get the same feeling about the bears a struggling but kinda funny when you think about it , they won 50 to 14. When you have established the program Mount Airy has over the past several years you get just that . What would have been good enough to take away the doubt ? 70 t 14 , 100 to nothing ? 50 - 14 is pretty solid . But I had the same feeling about that game seems they had there struggles, just not on the scoreboard

I noticed lots of little things. Lots of cutting up and laughter when you’re down 28 points, a wide receiver yelling at his quarterback while heading in for the half, no coaching between series.

The previous staff didn’t up and leave. It was known KG was retiring, you have a coach that was hired by a school board that has 0 football knowledge.

And in case any hasn’t noticed, the AD, the head football coach, several long time assistants, the head men’s basketball coach and the wrestling coach all left. Bigger issues than just the football program.

Hang on! I’ll save you a seat on the bench beside me. The next 3 OOC games will be tough on us. I’d love to beat ED at home this week but we have got to get some kids back this week and improve in practice. Havelock and New Bern will be brutal.

From what I've heard not too good but there non conference schedule isn't much to go off of. They play 4 2a schools.
