CVAC 2024 - Week 3 💯

Great game last night in Boone. I had a ball. ❤️

That fried chicken at Daniel Boone Inn was “slap your Momma”…good! Money!

I bout to bust with pride when Watauga was up 2 scores and on Maidens’ 6 yard line late in the game…and those Boom Devils refused to let ‘em in….the Pioneers settled for the FG. Great stuff right there.

Maiden looking good…wait and see.

I’m putting Clemson on the clock!… the Mountaineer's are coming!😂 Let’s go! App!
I think this APP at Clemson game will be better than what everyone thinks. Picking App to win.

Yep and Andrews about 150.
Good luck the rest of the year till we meet again last game of conference. On a side note just want to give Andrews coaching staff some credit. They only have 3 coaches through the week at practice and 1 more that is able to help on Friday nights. I know they're a small school but I can't imagine how hard that must be. Glad to see one of the Martin brothers out there helping on game nights. The culture on Andrews has definitely changed. 8 years ago they would have lost that game in the 4th qtr. Now culture says pull up your big boy pants and keep playing hard. Keep at it Phillips and staff!

Rockingham County @ Reidsville

In my humble opinion, Cobb is one of the most underrated RB in the country. He has everything...speed, quickness, can change direction and he's improved catching balls. He runs like he's pissed at the disrespect

I can see why Florida state and Alabama liked him so much at their camps. I don’t know if Air Force will be able to hold Cobb, imo.

I have no words for what I just saw. Murphy driving to go up 22 to 6 and now down 20-15 after two fumbles in West Henderson territory, unbelievable.

I don't want to talk down about a kid trying his best out there, but regardless of how this game shakes out, the reality is Murphy can't compete with the true top tier teams with #10 at QB. No threat in the passing game (which totally neuters their best athlete #3) so all the load is on the run game.
They need to put in some new wrinkles in the passing game with short throws. Some bubble screens to #3, motion him into the flat, and have another wr clear the flat out. Put him in a bunch formation with Clem and Shore...all three of those guys can house it at any time. Roll the QB and run levels on that side to shorten the throw needed.

But I agree #3 needs a minimum of 10 touches/game imho.

Cleveland County

The Shelby kid is big and looks the part but he’s so slow. He’s bad slow. Add that to the fact that their o- line is a sieve and they have issues.

It was awesome to see that the Thompson kid has really made out since he made the decision to run back to the sink hole palace. I had him at 1 catch and about 15 yards. He might’ve had two but Tank Ruff had the clamps on him.

The best part of the entire game was when Barney blew a gasket over the PI call. Granted it was a terrible call but that made it funnier.
My count Thompson had more drops than Shelby had rushing yards

Charlotte Catholic vs Providence Day

Was at this game. Catholic acquitted themselves well but clearly over matched in this one. First this is the 2nd time I have seen Providence Day play this year. Without question, they are the best collection of high school talent, size and speed with the possible exception of the Gonzaga team that visited Catholic 12 or so years ago that I have ever seen in person. They look impressive getting off the bus. They are also one of the most explosive teams on offense with quick strike ability on any play. However, they have also been one of the most underperforming teams in the state too. They have been prone to mistakes typically seen at the pop warner level and a lot of them. Their C game will get them a win most nights. If they play disciplined ball, I don't think any team in the state can touch them. Against a good, disciplined team, they have demonstrated they can lose. It cost them against Weddington. Catholic had them down 9-7 late in the third quarter, had just picked up a turnover and was driving in PD's territory. Catholic's combination of ball control and PD's mistakes had thoroughly frustrated them and had Catholic in a position to win the game. I said earlier in the week that Catholic had no margin of error and that a lot had to go wrong for PD and everything right for Catholic to win. Unfortunately, Catholic had a few mistakes and critical missed opportunities that cost them. Net, net, losing well is no consolation prize and still shows up as an "L" in the record. However, the takeaway for me is that, for Catholic, it should be a confidence builder as they have shown that they can line up with anyone in the state and have a chance to win. Next week, another big challenge. Crest at Crest. They are "just" a 3A and yet one of the better teams in the state at any level year in and year out. Nothing but respect for this team as they are an established program with a deep tradition, much like Catholic. Always good when strong teams take on early season games where they have the potential to lose. They have played a few times over the years. Always physical. Always brutal. Should be a good one.
