Burke County hoops

Freedom had a nice opening against Draughn tonight. The boys got a running clock win, while the girls pulled out a workmanlike victory. The Lady Pats have some holes to plug, but they get E. Burke next week and that will tell me a lot about what they might look like going forward. As for the boys, they were firing on all cylinders and got nice balance in their scoring in the win. Amore Connelly threw down two nice dunks and Kobe Bryant also got one. Freedom has depth, shooters and plays good defense and they could go a long way if they'll push the tempo and get their opponent's tongues hanging out. I'll know more about them after they face Hickory and A.C. Reynolds in December.

I wish McDowell played them twice a year still. Think it would be a great matchup this year boys and girls. McDowell has a pretty easy schedule and the MAC is terrible in basketball. There is a slight chance they could go through the season undefeated. Only South Caldwell or Reynolds should give them trouble and maybe someone in the Christmas Tournament they are in unless the teams in the MAC have improved dramatically.

Independence at Hough and Mallard Creek and Watauga are tough Second Round matchups for sure

Then if they could get to the game then issue could be traveling back home at night. Makes it a dangerous situation either way.
I don’t know how much it will stay on the roads though. We haven’t had any cold weather up here yet. The ground isn’t that cold yet.

Swe vs WRH Who Ya Got !!

Dogs have to protect the ball and limit the dumb penalties. If they do this I like their chances. People need to remember last season when a Hertford County Bears team came into the pound and walked away with a win in the playoffs. Wrh is vulnerable to taking an L at home. I like the Dogs to win but they can’t turn the ball over like they did last week. Survive and advance. Many of the Dog faithful had given up hope a few weeks back, now they’ve been blessed with new life thanks to the coaching of Motsinger and company. Same can be said for East Duplin.

Possible western 6A conferences

I decided to just run with this and here's what I've got so far. Again, I wanted to avoid split conferences as much as possible. I also didn't do the entire west because once you get east of Charlotte, I'm a lot fuzzier on where those schools are. There are probably also some charter schools that will have to be added in here or there. I also didn't mess with the 7A schools except McDowell, let someone from Charlotte or Greensboro figure those out.

East Rutherford at Reidsville - Round 2

Looks like a high-scoring game may be in the works. Both teams are averaging just under 50 points a game.

Reidsville (11-0) features dynamic junior QB Dionte Neal, who came close to a school record last week in the playoff opener with 381 yards passing on an 18-of-23 night. Kendon Doe still has the record with 385 yards passing against Western Alamance in 2003. Rams have great receivers in Cam'Ron Jones, Kendre Harrison, Johnniyus Sharpe, Jukhari Pinnix and Frankie Galloway. They survived without injured all-star RB Jariel Cobb, who set school record this season with 10.7 yards per carry. He ended the season with 1524 yards. Freshman Kasean Henry emerged from nowhere with 116 yards and 2 TDs on 12 carries. Much of the credit goes to the offensive line.

Reidsville's defense, which has been often burned by opponents running the ball, will have to contend with East Rutherford junior Brandon Pinkerton, who is averaging 166.4 yards per game. He has 1664 yards and 28 TDs on the ground and is also a receiving target with 16 receptions and 4 TDs. Junior QB Landon Flynn has competed 102 of 178 passes for 1805 yards.

Worthless common opponent comparison is R-S Central. ER Cavaliers defeated R-S Central 57-26 on Nov. 1 and Reidsville beat R-S Central 56-22 last week in the playoff opener.

East Rutherford is 7-3 with five straight wins. Cavaliers' last loss was in late September to Brevard, 24-21. Brevard is 8-2 heading into a second-round game at Bunker Hill (9-2) this Friday.

KENDRE HARRISON RETURNS TO REIDSVILLE

Oregon has the money to move his family out west, I do not think being homesick will be a factor. I honestly thought Tennessee would be his choice because of the strengths of BB and FB teams.
He would have a hard time playing basketball at TN. Rick Barnes isn’t going to wait around on football season to be over. Oregon is the easiest place to play both.
