Burns defense looked better than Crest’s. They did a good job against the run but did miss some tackles, one in particular was the quick pass on Crests first possession in which crest scored. Crest has some very short fields and used trick plays to move the ball and score. Not sure why they thought they needed to use those plays if they thought they could move the ball. I was on the Crest side and some agreed that the roughing the passer call was bogus. That took away a pick by Burns and gave Crest great field position. That’s football and some calls kill one team and help another. Burns better clean up their penalties.
Crest’s defense is in for a long year unless they fix some things in a hurry.

Dark horse it's great you guys are doing this for the kids and the communities.... Keep it up

I think Heritage is a legit contender in 1a this year but they need to clean some things up or they'll get caught late in the playoffs if not earlier

This is an awful example of the team.

they were huge compared to heritage and what's scary is they are still really young, interested to see how the rest of their schedule goes I think Brevard, West and Reynolds will be slight favorites Ashevilles a toss up and Roberson will be no slouch it would be crazy if they were this good and ended up 4-6 again, honestly 6-4/ 7-3 might be the best case scenario with their schedule

Randelman- I’m going with this based off of their 2 victories and the Hill barley beating a Freedom team that although didn’t impress me much Freedom is decent considering new coach and all but the Hill allowed them to score often. Hard call but going with the Randleman.

East Burke- a game they better get the passing game right and practice up. Can’t see Draughn being who they were the past 2 years due to the tallent lost but EB lost a lot too but not as much as the Draughn crowd.

East Lincoln- be a closer one for Lincolnton than last week but those mustangs just seem to have the edge. Prob by 2 TDs

Watauaga- CVAC game of the week I called it. Hey if they pulled one off on Mallard Creek and got some of that tallent back from that team then it obviously won’t be enough. Who’d a thought back in the 90s and some of the 2000s Maiden would be an underdog in a matchup like this lol.

Newton- out on a limb on this one tney pull off a 3 or 5 pt thriller. ER seem to be superstars once every 5 or 6 years but this may not be one of those

Hibriten- ah the ole black and blue. Definitely not the energy in this one that many of the old matchups carry but at least something positive for fans on both sides with struggling or somewhat struggling times.

West Lincoln- ehhh farm boy rivarly I guess but West just has it and so far Foard don’t. Another good breather game for the cat square warriors

It was a big win for us no doubt. ED has a great program with a lot of class. Nothing but respect for them. I don’t know anything about Northern Guilford so I have to see if I can find this on NFHS. New Bern has more than twice our school so it’s always an uphill battle. Sometimes not even a battle. We can usually play pretty close for a half and then fatigue gets us in the 2nd half. Like what happened to Pamlico last week against us. I’ll be in Arkansas this week to take in some football games with my cousins and their kids. I’ll be at games Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I’ll be back the following week for the Havelock game.

Crest/Burns second half should be interesting..giving Devine and Lloyd a 3 day halftime I suspect the best athletes want leave the field

He took a sack on 4th down in scoring range and i don’t think we saw him at QB after that. He did however come in to punt..

They weren't bad. They definitely have some talent. Big bruising RB who was good but if you stack the middle of the line on defense you can shut him down. Their QBs weren't very accurate throwing the ball but they were pretty elusive when they ran. They do not seem to have a good kicker which could be a problem down the road. I wouldn't over look them in the 1A playoffs. They should improve as the season progresses.

We looked better. Score should have been more lopsided than it was. Just like the previous week the QB turned the ball over inside the 5 twice. Once was a fumble at the half yard line and the other was an interception inside the 5. Jerel Bolder had a 100 yard plus receiving night. The running game looked good. We have 3 great RBs that all looked good. Most of our 400 plus yards Friday were on the ground. Our best lineman returned after knee surgery during the off-season (Center Braxton Grace 6' 2" 290) He looked good. Overall better but the QB play is still an issue. Going to need to rely more on the running game this year if the QB play isn't more consistent. Defense look good also but still needs a little improvement in areas.
