Independence at Hough and Mallard Creek and Watauga are tough Second Round matchups for sure

The current weather forecast (Wednesday @ 7:30 AM) for Boone for Friday Night between 6 PM and 10 PM is Temp 33 to 34, Winds steady at 25 mph with gusts up to 48 mph which they say will feel like 13; with light snow flurries between 8 to 10 PM.

If you are going put on so many clothes you can barely walk, and look out for slick spots coming and going. Good Luck.

Burns @ Monroe

Monroe has the ability to spread the ball around to a lot of different guys. They are not very complicated at all on offense, but what they do they do pretty well and 90% of the time they are gonna have more true athletes on the field than most teams they play. Monroe loses when people who don't know them that much can run with them and are physical with them. They are used to winning big and when they get in a tight game they tend to make mistakes.

Their QB does not read the field great but is serviceable in the passing game. The problem with defending him is resources; if you drop 7-8 and only rush 4 there is a decent chance you flood his passing lanes and make him pull the ball down and run. Therein lies the problem, if you make him a runner that is his strong suit. He is fast, very fast. I believe he is part of a 4 x 100 state qualifying relay team there. Yes I am well aware that "track" speed and "football" speed can be different because of the angles and such, but this kid can out run a lot of peoples angles. Your best option is to try and make him step up in the pocket and put people around him and get him on the ground. If you got a LB that could possibly play a spy technique that could also work. But you HAVE to account for his ability to run. Blitzing him especially if you can disguise it and still get in his face can force a bad throw. If you tip your blitzes there is a great chance he dumps the ball to an equally fast RB or slot waiting around in the flats for it, or he will get deep roll out and keep running.

North Rowan vs East Wilkes

Dopple, are you a NR fan?

But yes we typically travel very well. Last year at Mitchell wasn't so well but I think the weather had some issues with that. 2 years ago traveled well to Murphy too. I'm expecting a decent crowd but afraid the colder temps may keep several from coming.
No i just like to follow up on alot programs around the State.

The first thing I noticed is there are no charter schools in the finals. This is surprising at the 1A and 2A level to me.

Secondly, Sampson county has two in the finals, Clinton and Hobbton.

Thanks to Vik-Val for getting this started. He was able to generate 8 pages on the season with more posts to come. I had planned to post some info on the players from the teams I covered but discovered my contacts in the soccer area are no longer involved or retired. (I graduated in 82 and my daughter in 08).

I am a baseball/football guy but I love all sports related to New Hanover and have attended lots of NHHS sporting events. Although I
didn’t play soccer it is a beautiful game to watch when played well.

As my earlier post noted, based on history , you have to expect Wakefield to win 4A. Those in the west can pull extra hard for Marvin Ridge in hopes they can do the unusual.

Thanks again Vik-Val, I have enjoyed this thread.
Thanks, I was glad that I got this soccer thread started. But a big thank you to you CatScratchFever23 and others that help contribute to this thread to help make it a success. I’ve enjoyed it as well and learned some things that I didn’t know. Looking forward to next season when HS soccer starts up again.

Randolph Co has 2 in state Championship as well in 3A and 2A
All 336 Championship in 3A and rematch from earlier in the season. Asheboro won the 1st matchup 4-3 early in the season.
I'm surprised no charters either especially in 1A. Mt Airy and Hobbton defeated Charters to get to the championship.
I totally overlooked Randolph County. One of my football poster friends, theKidd12 is from Randolph I believe.

Final ADM Numbers - 11/19 - 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A

I would think that Maiden would be one of the non conference opponents if this doesn’t happen.
You got to remember Catawba County forces us to play to County schools in non-conference leaving one game and I don't know how long we are tied to watauga. Granted maybe with Fred t Ford in our conference now could free up another spot

Final ADM Numbers - 11/19 - 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A

I think Lincolnton should protest and say they got a few more kids now so they switch Reidsville and Lincolnton out. That way Lincolnton can stay in our conference and we can keep our historic rivalry together

Burns @ Monroe

When Reidsville blew out Shelby last year alot of you were confidently saying Shelby was going to come in and play very physical game and move on to the title, because Reidsville hadn'at had a physical game or tough game ALL season.

Now you all are assuming that because Burns has played alot of tough local teams that Monroe has not been battle tested and will be exposed by Burns.

ok

WE SHALL SEEEEEEEEEEE
You have my quote attached but I never said any of that.

I just simply don't like Monroe. They should have never been in 2A. They do have athletic teams and deep rosters but they disappoint every year in the playoffs despite being heavy favorites online and on paper.

Conferences or regions

Like I said I don't know the ins and outs but I thought with regions teams have the ability to set their own schedule essentially within the region.
Most states that I have seen a region is another name for conference. The advantage is that I have never seen a split classification for a region. The disadvantage is that it produces some really long road trips.

Thomasville Football

Benjie was going to come back a few years ago but the school board messed that up. If you think that this flag football coach is that right guy for the job, you are clueless.
That's why I said "shouldn't have burned bridges with Benjie."

Didn't say he was but I want stability. Looking for coaches every two-three years wont fix anything. For the most part fix the offense and the team is fine. Defense was solid for the most part. If we go 4-7 again I'll on the fire the coach bandwagon. If you think coach George is a flag football coach then that shows how clueless you are. It also says alot about our opponents coaches considering many barely beat us.
