Lake Norman girls will go 20-0 with a win over West Cabarrus 69-53.

Kristen Lewis Williams scored a career high of 35 points in this game and as always over at least this year, the bigger the game the bigger she plays. In the less competitive games she dishes out assist right and left, gets the ball to the open person for the 3 or the layup.

How she is not being recruited by every major college or university (and she has D1 offers) I have no concept of. I have said before she is one of the four or five best lady basketball players I have seen in this area since the absolute best, Ann Ellis of South Iredell, in the late 60's early 70's.

I agree. She is really good player. I’m glad someone on here has good memory from way back that knew South Iredell’s Anne Ellis. My memory goes back to the days of Sherry Cash of South Iredell who is 2nd highest scorer at South behind Anne Ellis. Those both were good players. Lake Norman amazes me with the young players they have along with Kristen Williams who is their only senior. I could see Lake Norman girls having a huge success for at least the next couple years.

Lake Norman's only senior was definitely over whelmed with emotion from the recognition she was so entitled to, so what she early on missed offensively she turned into steals, rebounds and assist.
AND THEN she settled down and the offense came in spades.

She has not made a decision where she is going to play in college, ETSU, NC A&T, St Mary's among others are making runs at her. And I predict she will make an awful lot of ACC Coaches look foolish for passing on her. She has a 4.25 grade point average and just sees things others on the floor do not see.

An update to the last post: Kirsten Lewis Williams only scored 31 in her last regular season game after a really emotional, wound up tight as could be with emotions as the only Senior on her team on Senior Night.

If there is a better- top to bottom- ladies basketball player in this state, I would love to see that person play because I would have to see her to believe any one is better than Kirsten. And no I am not family, neighbor, teacher, preacher or any other relationship to her. Never spoken to her but twice in my life.

It is just that when she is on the court she is "poetry in motion".

She is def fun to watch and of course it helps to have teammates that are talented, as well.
NC currently has a lot of ESPN top ranked players. The class of 2024 in NC has 3 in the top 12. I would highly recommend watching Sarah Strong play at Grace Christian. 6’2” player that has an inside/outside game and has a sturdy build.

I take it that the higher seed will be played at home at least on Monday. For example Hickory Ridge would be at home against South Iredell. I will get back if I hear different on anything.

Ok I did find out that Higher seed will host 1st rd. on Monday. The boys will be Monday, Thursday, Friday. Girls game will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday. The semis and Finals will be played at Lake Norman.

Winner of tonight’s ACR/Asheville game will be the top seed out of the mountain conference. Both teams finished 11-1 in conference and beat each other so tonight tournament championship determines the playoff conference champ.

Game of Interest as Independence (23-2) will take on Charlotte Catholic (20-6) on 2/17 at 6pm. CC only 2 losses in conference was to Independence by close scores. I look for this to be a good one.

ACR defeats Asheville 50-46 to win the Mountain Conference Tournament Title and the #1 seed from the conference for the playoffs. Asheville’s only 2 losses this year came against the Rockets!

Lake Norman girls win the Championship tournament over Hickory Ridge 75-67.

This was a very tough game for Lake Norman. HR came out running and running and running some more. However, with Kirsten Lewis Williams on the floor, she will make any and all teams pay for every little mistake.
LN got in control of the game early 3rd quarter and stayed in control but could not pile it on the way they have in most games this year.
