Coach Ron Greene passed away this morning.....he was a legend and one of the good guys ....please keep his family in your prayers.
One of the greats. We still quote him from the 94 state title video that they put out about Burns and Crest. He started naming kids and after every one he said "rose to the occasion". Class act. Prayers for the family.
SP did whatever they wanted to on offense, burns played better as the game when on. But it was very clear who was the best team

Ron was a very good friend and worked with him at Burns for years. He was one of the good guys. He will be missed. Prayers to his family.
Makes sense that the SP offense is way ahead of our defense. I did hear we played a ton of bench players. Hope that's true.
I caught most of it watching Tweeters live stream...
South Point did run it and even throw it all over Burns at the start and at one point I believe was up 3-1 ... SP was huge up front on offense, small speedy QB (12) and a big fullback... heck their wide out #35 looked as big as most on entire field
Burns found their footing and hit several long passes for TD's on the raiders..... It was overall close at the end...South Points weakness that I saw was pass d which is usually the case with them.... again it was a scrimmage so we arent seeing anything too concerning overall.
You are right though, bunch of movement switching kids in and out from the get go, so not any indication of what the season will hold.. ... .I say Burns is top 3 or 4 in all of 2a this year.... If they get their line play right.... Looked like they are still working on combos to find the right fit which is to be expected in these scrimmages.....
They will be hard to handle
South point will too in 3a..... They looked good overall..

I forgot to add... I believe it was the JV portion #32 for Burns, he was linebacker on D and RB on O.... This kid was a bowling ball, hard hard runner, and was flying around on D... I dont know who he was but he stood out in a sea of kids out there during that portion

#35 Blee at TE can be what SP had in Nick Muse if used correctly. He's 6'6" and is getting some D1 looks.
QB and line play should be strong this year. Eager to see who gets the nod at FB with either Medlock or the young stud Chaynce Ford. Medlock is smaller and quicker and Ford resembles some SP FB's of years past.
Hard to say I agree based on how much Burns swapped in and out. It was very clear to me that Burns was trying to decide who fits and who wants to be on the field. I thought both teams had struggles at times. SP had two fumbles but I was impressed by how much they passed the ball. Both teams will be a handful.
I made a half dozen or so predictions this year…so far I’m batting a thousand….I thought I really stepped out there when I said West Caldwell would win a game….that is…til I read this one above.

It's always a crap shoot trying to predict high school football. KM should go 3-0 but would not surprise me at all to see crest beat them. That's why we love this game ....you just never know.
I said Shelby 4 wks ago. I was wrong. It's pretty simple now. The Mighty Mighty Mountaineers without a doubt unless something improbable happens to the Crest defense.
