Thomasville at Albemarle

Do you really think WM would compete with Concord? What would be your WM/Concord prediction? They were beat by Starmount in the playoffs. Do you really think there has been a year in the last 50 years that Starmount could beat Concord?

It's not about beating concord. If we beat concord who is top 10 2a watch out. I believe it's more can we move the ball on them can our defense hold at all against them. Can we make this a game in the second half and even give our selves a chance to win. We have a lot of questions about this team and what they are capable of. In the details of the game I was impressed with certain aspects.
Concord will be a true test of where these kids are I believe.

Charlotte Latin who played us in our one team scrimmage beat Davidson Day last year 49-19 with basically the same team. We had backups when they threw two TDS, and we finished the scrimmage 3-2 which is still a pretty good showing. Davidson Day has beat us 124-11 over the past two years. Charlotte Latin even beat Davidson Day when they beat us 61-6 two years ago. So understand that we played a damn good team in Charlotte Latin.

I for one am excited and taking this season one game at a time. Opposing teams in the conference better watch out.

For anybody who didn't go to the scrimmage, you would have been blown away at how many opposing teams that Albemarle will face; was there! Obviously Albemarle is still a factor in their eyes!

Anyway,

Albemarle will possibly drop 40-50 on T-ville. That doesn't say a lot against a 2 win team last year. They do have a "Man Child " on D I heard. But one person doesn't stop the show!

Albemarle rolls...

Once again I love your optimism but I don't see Albemarle blowing Thomasville out. I don't care if they only won two games last year. This is still Thomasville and they return a lot on offense and they are also going to have athletes on the field.

@Dogs9 from what I heard, they didn't have a lot.

I hope you are right but I think they return their starting quarterback and two other running backs. They've always had athletes so we will see what happens Friday night.

Yeah. They gave a mobile QB 1 WR that's decent. Their issue is the OL.

I think what has hurt Thomasville more than anything is they don't have a Brown on the sidelines.

Has anyone determined for sure the time of the game? I've seen 7 and 7:30. All the media outlets in our area are saying 7:30.

@ocdavis. I will ask coach Smith tonight at practice. In other words get it from the horses mouth.

Yeah. They gave a mobile QB 1 WR that's decent. Their issue is the OL.

If they are not strong on the OL they will have a bunch of issues. We didn't get a lol of push vs Latin but those guys were huge but we held and still made a lot of plays in the backfield. Our lines looked pretty solid vs Latin I think offensively without opening our playbook up we had just a couple of negative yardage plays which really shocked me.

The 3-2 score vs Latin was great but neither team really opened their playbook up. Speed wise I felt we matched very well, tackling I thought we did a great job, and our discipline is better along with our conditioning. Those are the things I was watching, like I said we still have a lot of work to do but overall it was a good showing not great as of yet. Special teams is huge and we still haven't seen that yet but with how they were tackling I would say we would be ok there but that's something we will get to see Friday night.

A couple of things I will be looking for fri night. Special teams and conditioning. We have not been working a lot on special teams at practice but I look for that to change this week. Also conditioning. How will we hold up in the second half, especially the fourth quarter with so many guys going both ways. I think that will change down the road as more guys get experience and can step up and relieve some of the starters. But I also think that will be an issue with a lot of the teams we play, especially in 1A. But I do think that Wes has done a great job conditioning the ones that did get in the weight room. Need to get back to what Gaster used to say. If you don't lift you don't play.

Just checked the weather. Looks like the rain may come a day earlier than we though. Thurday looks rainy with fri at 10%. But you never know about these forecast.

I also agree I think the qb sells the play well. All the work we put in at practice on fundementals is going to pay off.

Who is the Bulldogs quarterback this year?

Realistically, we will give up some points. I'm thinking 15-20 or so. That's only based on the numbers we have this year. That's why is very important that the second string guys play "Exceptionally" well to give the starter a break. Our OL is our DL we clearly seen that, so that's no secret.

@justanotherfan46 #16 Bird is the QB. Very smart QB and sells the play very well. I was impressed with this kid during paractice and I knew he would win once I saw the competition with my own eyes. #11 still has some growing to do, but he'll be fine. We have a very young talented team, and we will only get better.

We have 24 on the official roster, but I know there are more. I can't remember how quarters are broken down in high school, but when things get "Ironed" out, maybe will see them on the field....maybe.

I think what has hurt Thomasville more than anything is they don't have a Brown on the sidelines.

I thought Wes Mattera leaving Thomasville would hurt them. I think by them staying in house and promoting Coach Maxwell will actually benefit them. He has local ties and knows the kids very well. Thomasville has always had very good teams and they will not stay down long. From what I have read the kids have been working hard and they have a great attitude going into this season. It is good to see a rivalry like this being brought back. I think Thomasville wins this one, 28-21.

Gheez where was everybody tonight. No Chad. No Carl. All by myself. Just a little rain guys. Came out and had to go back in for a little lighting. Came back out and went at it for about 2 hrs. Usual stuff except at the end of practice coach ran them from sideline to sideline about 10 times. Maybe more. First time I had seen that. By the way coach Smith said the game will start at 7 fri night. All YVC games will start at 7. The Concord game may be different.

That starting time is problematic for the Red Dogs. All of the local newspapers and the Thomasville schedule indicate 7:30, as are all of our other games. Hopefully, we'll have somebody in the stands.

I understand OC, but that is what our coach told me. Don't think he likes it very much. Guess the coaches in the YVC voted on it. Don't really know.

I see a close game. Albemarle is still learning the double wing offense and there will be several hiccups Friday night. I see a score of something like 21 to 10 in favor of Albemarle with Albemarle scoring a TD late in the 4th quarter.

I also see some of the Albemarle fans being frustrated after this game. Just remember, this is only the first game of a new season. Coach Smith is the right coach and he'll need the fans' support more than ever. This will be an ugly game, but Albemarle will win.

Question? They are saying the Concord/Kannpolis game tomorrow night will be televised on TWC. Anyone know what channel? Since we play Concord next week I would like to see what they look like.

It's on Time Warner and I think it's channel 325 or something in that area.

Thanks guys. One channel in that area. Know I watched the SC in basketball last year on one of those channels.

Would like to extend an invitation to all the Tville posters that can come early to a "meet and greet" before the game. I will be there along with what's left of the NCC. I think it's always nice to put a face to a screen name. We all stand on the 50 yd line in front of the press box. You can spot me as I will be wearing my NCC t-shirt. I have already invited ITJ, so just wanted to include all the Tville posters. Then when the game starts we can all go back to being "arch rivals". LOL.

I'll try to take you up on that, Buddy. Thanks for the invitation. Don't be fooled. ITJ is the best one of us. It goes downhill from there!

This is what I said earlier sway. They also went against the Tville offense as they had red hats on. lol .Still lots of work with the qb on handoffs, etc. Conditioning was a big part of last night.

@Buddy Rich "Red Hats"? lol. That's funny.

There will be some miscues on hand-off for the most part in the beginning of the season. Until they are totally in "Sync" with one another, look for some backfield issues for the first couple of games. With a new offense and a late start, this is expected. Still, each practice is different so I hope they turn it up on Friday night.

Buddy Rich I know Im slack for not getting up with you since your wife passed, I apologize for that and I didn't want you to think I transferred out like some of the kids from Albemarle I just choose not to get my hopes up just to have them walked on by the end of the year to all the miscues that happened last year. I wont be at the game on Friday as I will be at the beach but I think Bubba74 might go so I will text him and get updates
