Nobody got it started yet so figured I’d take the reigns.

EL/Ashebrook- should be an interesting and true test. East back in their ways and should take this in a close one.

Newton/Hickory- a classic going back way before WWII. Could be anyone’s game but I’d give Newton the edge based on Hibritens destroying Hickory last week.

Bandys/South Caldwell- another great clash that I hate to miss. Bandys comes in alittle less from last year and South comes in improved. Love their chances but I think Bandys edges them by 2 TDs. That’s if they contain Piercy.

North Lincoln/West Caldwell- if history is anything to take into account I’d set Sorrus and Price and def Beard out on this one. Zac Pollard South Caldwell historic running back out with ACL on a well decided foe (I think it was against West) and 06’ Trent Hopkins against Bessemer city, game well decided, season injury. If West can get some depth I know they’d be back to some winning ways perhaps.

LNC Union Academy- “ yawn”
Anyway, yeah I’d go with Union.

West Lincoln/ Cherryville- set your best out too coach or practice up. Come see South game or East game for the gamers that just wanna see a close one. Just saying lol.

Maiden/Bunker Hill-....anyway, come on out to the East game or Bandys game.
 
Gotta agree Burke. A couple add ons....... Bunker Hill has a stud of a defensive tackle/end. He will cause havoc in any backfield and don't know if Maiden is is ready for that week 3. Also Bunker had to sit four of thier best players last week due to disciplinary reasons and he was one of them. Dont be shocked to see Bunker play alot better this week.

Bandys is not any where close to the team they were last year. I havent seen South Caldwell play but not expecting the repeat season Bandys had.

EL is still my dark horse pick this year. Will improve every week. Just hate we have to wait til end of season to play them lol.

NL in a landslide.

West could possibly throw up more points this week than against draughn if we dont turn into our own worst enemies or anyone gets hurt. West players learned that going both ways just for one half isn't a joke and the key players have been staying an hour after practice every day to work on thier conditioning and speed. Amazing group of seniors to have as leaders at west. Started with two senior captains staying after practice and has grown to almost 20 staying to put in the extra work.
 
Im going to go with Ashbrook. They played a tough AL Brown team last week and will be at home for the opener.
Newton and Hickory will be the best game of the night I believe. A lot of folks have bought stock in Hickory but I just dont see it. I will go with the Red Devils in this one.
Bandys played a weak Foard team last week winning 27-7 while South Caldwell is off to a 2-0 start after beating Maiden in a close one last week. These two teams are a spitting image of each other playing power football, but I am going with South Caldwell in this one.

West will roll over Cherryville
I will go with Bunker Hill over Maiden just because I have not heard good things regarding the Blue Devils this season.
My wolves are at North Gaston looking for their first win. Freshman QB will get the start I believe. He looked impressive last Friday night.

How sure are you that those Bunker Hill players will be back this week? I am almost positive they are still out. Even with those players back I would still pick Maiden over Bunker. 35-14 Maiden.

I think Newton beats Hickory in a close one.

I saw a Hickory-Newton Conover game in 1967.
There were so many people that fans were allowed to sit around the perimeter of the end zone.This was at Gurley Stadium, in Newton.
I haven’t seen that in a long time and won’t ever see it again.
The Red Tornadoes won by a narrow margin. Can’t remember for certain but it might have been the Red Devils only loss of the season, however, it would cost them the conference title.

What an amazing sight that must have been. I sure do wish high school football could get back to that point. I know that it never will. There are too many other things to do. There are too many distractions. I still think there is no better entertainment on a Friday night for that amount of money. Obviously many people don't agree.

Oh man if you watch football highlights of almost ANY team in Charlotte you see a lot of spacey stands. People must get out and party in charlotte or get out to get in trouble or stay home. It’s sad really. Audrey Kell, Weddington and Catholic and s few of those bring the sales but that’s bout it.
 
I hope for their sakes that Bunker Hill has that talent you guys speak of. If their track guys all came out and put in the work they’d make the Hibriten game bearable ha ha.

I’m not die hard on any school, when I get out to a game I pick one that’s interesting and could go either way. This pick would be the South game.

What I’m waiting on and hoping is one of the South Fork puts Watauga on the schedule one year. What use to be a team that people put for their homecoming has all of a sudden turned into a powerhouse that no matter who they lose to graduation they still get it done. I don’t get it ha ha. Just makes for a gate sale idea.
 
I'm not positive they will be back. Haven't asked my son but he eluded to the fact that it was just last week. Bunker Hill is not a powerhouse by any means but do ha e the talent to upset some teams. I feel like maiden will have a hard time getting thier offense going. A strong player off the end came cause major damage in a backfield. Wolf I didn't realize we didn't predict yours; I'm sorry. You guys should pick up your first win this week.

The grandfather of Lincolnton's freshman quarterback was also a quarterback at Lincolnton High in 1965.
That team only lost one game to East Rutherford, in overtime, a loss which bothers some of the old Wolves to this very day. It would cost them the conference championship and the opportunity of being in a playoff game (only one playoff spot per conference available, then, in the old WNCHSAA).

Minus charter, I can see all of the conference teams winning.
 
Only one very unpredictable is Ashbrook and EL. I still give East a close one and if it’s even by 10 or more, ah watch out rest of conference. Ashbrook always has athletes to get it done, just some years alittle better than others.

Any North fans wanna give insight as to how North changed up things and really took it to ER last week in good fashion? I’m guessing ERutherford lost a lot of seniors last year. Saw the Parkwood replays on YouTube. Wow, they had some pretty big guys, a couple coulda passed for college Juniors.
 
East Rutherford was terrible on defense as NL pretty much did what they wanted offensively. However, there was one player who took up a lot of space in the middle of the ER defensive line....he was listed on the roster as 6-8, 380 and he looked every bit of that size.
 
Bandys JV beat South Caldwell 30-12. Was close the first half and Bandys pulled away in the second half.

Hibriten 6 Ashe 6
Statesville 21 Alexander 20
Newton 3 Hickory 0
West Lincoln was up big
Lincolnton was up by 2 scores
North Lincoln was up big
 
Beamer I hope ur Panthers are not overrated. Ashe ain’t all that and they tied. South may pull through if Pericy gets running room.

West, Lincolnton, and North expected for big wins. Last time I checked it was 37 zip North.

I forgot bout the Statesville/AC game. Oughta be bout as close as Bandys South.

Is North Lincoln still unbeatable? Is the Bazzle triple unstoppable?

Is East the real deal or are the Green Wave down?

A lot of people had Hickory beating Newton. Does this mean Newton is the real deal?

Can Lake Norman Charter score a point in conference play?

Will West Lincoln be able to compete with North again this year? Can they beat Bandys in the shortest game of the year?

Will the Lincolnton Glass' take the conference by storm? Are they still trying to throw it around a lot? Do they have the OL/DL to hang with WL and Bandy's? Do they have the speed to beat Newton?

Is Maiden down or is SC good? Did the BH players play Friday or were several still suspended? If Maiden is truly down do they have several days of mourning in the town square? Pulling of hair? Gnashing of teeth? How good are they really?

Is Bandy's as good as last year? Did they fill the holes created by graduation?

How are all the JV teams doing?
 
Hickory is pretty banged up at least of the Hibriten game.... They were missing 6-7 players against The Panthers, not sure how many if any were back against Newton.... I think Maiden might of overlooked South honestly as I’ve heard South didn’t look very good against Bandys and wore down in the 2nd half

This is prob something that needs to start in week 4. Can’t believe it’s already week 4. Good grief slow down. Be track season tomm at this rate.

North Lincoln is very beatable I’d say but it was the first game against some good athletes. Was disappointed in the Parkwood loss so I researched Parkwood. Those guys won - 2 !!! Games last year. 2. They sit in a VERY tough conference prob one of the hardest around for 3A. This year Parkwood may win more games but not much more siting in a conference like that. If they were in Hibritens cupcake schedule They’d be bout undefeated figuratively speaking.

Hard to say how North will finish in this conference this year. Last 2 games they rocked it out easily but against 2 teams that’ll be lucky to have 3 to 4 wins combined between the two by seasons end. South Caldwell scored more on West Caldwell than North did but I wouldn’t place a talent gage on that. Judging from the 2nd half when it seemed the bench played(I wasn’t there) no score. Either they took it super easy or North can’t afford to have starters go down if u catch my drift. Real test will come later and in mid season form they should be ok. Still predict a conference victory but we shall have to play the game to be sure.

Not worried bout LNC. Be kinda like highland tech days when they were in this conf. But wow they sure know how to go in every other sport.

WL will be ok in conference play and will give North a great game like last year. Could go either way with that rushing attack.

Lincolnton seems to be improved and has played alittle harder competition. At least in SP. Expect them to be better.

Newton just has speed. At least half the time. With Pack getting settled in expect a better season but I still think North takes them in a close one.

Bandys not as good as last year but will still bust people in the mouth. Can’t see them going past 2nd round.

East is a super hard call but seem to have it together and way more up to speed as opposed to last year. North and East game should be a packed house.

JVs, someone else lay down good knowledge on that.
 
Why is it "hard to say how North will finish in this conference this year"? It's actually pretty easy. They are the favorites to win the conference. IMO it is much harder to say how all the other teams (except LNC) will finish in the conference.

I located the 2nd half game film of that game recently through a Newton-Conover source. It's a classic piece of film. Call me about lunch this Thursday.

Well it is hard to say as far as a top 3 or 4 finish. EL, West, and even Newton n Bandys showing some strength. Don’t get me wrong on what I said, I ain’t taking nothing from North and trust me I want them to rise the conference trophy for the first time with the coach getting soaked as much as the next man on that November night but I tell ya with the momentum the other top teams are coming on with Id be alittle nervous for the boys in blue. Nothing is in the bag this year for East, West, North or Bandys. Much respect to those non North teams.

A team like Hibriten in that conference they sit in....uhhh yeah def in the bag. If they only beat the 2nd best team in that conf by 3 TDs that’d be considered a moral defeat for them.

Why you think I respect South Fork so much lol. Kick LNC out of SF and put Hibriten in it, make it worth while for the Lenoir rowdies.
