The Burke spill-

Newton and Maiden. Both of em’ not at the very best compared to other years but will no less be a great gate sale rivalry. I’ll go with Newton on 2 TDs. Or 10 pts.

WL and EL. West being a force like past 2 years and in this one be no different. I’m sure East dominates the series tremendously however make another notch for the cat square rowdies. A winnable game for East if they play cards right.

Lincolnton and North. Usually a torture game to watch for North cause of landslides but this year be other way around. Could be a yawner if ur a gamer. Lincolnton won’t stay down long. Just can’t see it. North by 3 TDs. . Only 3 cause rivals fight harder and Lincolnton at their best for some reason every time they play North.


Bandys and LNC. Even for this years Bandys it’ll be another yawner. Depending on which Bandys shows up no reason why it won’t be a 3 TD victory for the greenies at the very least.

Easy picks and very well may go this way. Except the East one. East may be improved and come to play and could be sparking at the right time but on paper this is West’s win unless I’m proven otherwise.

West by 14.. too strong of run team. Only concern would be 2nd half.. lots of kids going both ways. Always cheering for ya West! Except when playing you. I have really enjoyed watching the two punching bag teams put up good years back to back! This will be the first graduating class at North where the Athletes stayed “home”.

One thing is for sure with our game; its not gonna be an easy one. I have much respect for East because of a few of the kids that I have happened to coach over the years. I know our kids know whats at stake because of the railroading we got last year finishing 3rd. This will be a hard fought game and dont expect our boys to tire out and lay down in the second half on this one with LKN charter on the horizon. All or nothing this week. Blood ,sweat and tears they will be coming and leave it all on the field.

I got an interesting history lesson this morning on another board. Apparently Newton-Conover at one time was also the Blue Devils. Until one year in the 1920s when red uniforms came in by mistake.

Love three boards. Ain’t much else to add. Hope y’all have seen the elite 8 thread it’s getting HOT. Lots of people feel North should be on it, some think their team should be on it and why, Me.... I like North going in under dog and surprising people. I like Norths chances. At least they are little more battle tested with the schedule than Hibriten is. So when or if and HOPEFULLY these 2 line up face to face, keep that in mind as u see the rankings and watch the captains meet in middle of the field bout 720 pm. Question is will we be seeing a huge helment and smoke. OR ..a line of black jerseys walking down a hill to some Bells? The suspense getting to you guys yet? Ha ha

Now THIS will be a 3rd/4th round gate sale. I’d be happy to watch this in either stadium.

I'll tell you whats interesting is the number of small 2A schools (judging from last years ADMs and cuttoff) thats in the maxpreps top 25 right now. Home playoff game for us is looking bleak if we end up going small.

Most of the the bravest, toughest and kindest people I’ve ever known in my pathetic existence are here, in this town.
Because of the Wolves, us Lincolnton sorts have been able to identify with a winner over the years. As for seasons like this one and the past two where wins are few and far between, I have every bit as much respect for our players on these teams as I do for those who played on teams when wins were plentiful.
It’s easy to pull for or play on teams that win but how hard is it to practice during the week then go out and get beat badly, on Friday nights, then go do it again.
Sometimes, I wonder if it isn’t teams like these who inspire winners.
I won’t pull against them or even pick against them.
I read one time where some character said
“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens”. Not me.

We all have an enormous amount of pride in our teams. This year is a tough one for me. Son is a senior and who knows if he will go play at college. Has some D2 interest but who knows? Foe me it will pain me to go to a game next year. After I graduated; I didn't return to the stadium for a good 10 years because I missed it so bad. I have respect for every player on every team that laces up the cleats. It takes a strong kid to grind it out day after day for 6 months in all weather. Good luck to allthe south Fork players and teams and to all you guys. I wish the best for everyone.

High school OT just updated thier projections today. Obviously its not gonna hold true because ADMs are not in yet and two more weeks of football but as of today; we would get our West Lincoln Newton Conover rematch. Interesting.

What a game! The blue devils barely hang on! Again!
Newton played a great game and the outcome could have easily been in their favor. Same goes for East Lincoln last week.

I’m kind of hoping that Maiden goes small 2a and rest of the Fork goes Big 2aa. I don’t want to play any of them again. My heart can’t take it! Lol.

now we gotta play the Wolves.... I guarantee that we have another tough game with them. They always play tough against the blue!
