First thing's first...........The Sandy Ridge baseball team does indeed exist.

Now that I've got that out of the way.....

WHAT. A. GAME. That game had about everything you could imagine. Scoring. Strikeouts. Timely hits. Rallies. Balls completely lost in the outfield. A balk controversy. A pitch count protest. And.......a game-winning run via "hit-by-pitch".

ER won 12-11 in the bottom of the eighth. Once again, Post 81 jumped out to a lead. Going into the sixth, ER led 5-1. Once again, ER blew that lead. Sandy got hot at the plate and was cranking out nice hit after hit. As a result, they tied it up.

In the bottom of the sixth, ER scored two to make it 7-5. In the top of the seventh, Sandy Ridge scored two to send it into extras.

Top of the eighth.....SR gets hot again. Scored four and led 11-7 going into the bottom of the inning.

With two outs, ER's Luke Thomas comes up and hits what appears to be a routine fly to center. The Sandy Ridge center fielder completely loses the baseball. As a result, one run scores and ER is still alive.

Brody Gardner came to the plate and smashed a double to left which drove in two. After "pitch-count gate", SR changes pitchers. Next pitcher didn't do so hot. He walks the next two batters. Then, next guy comes up and smacks a single up the middle. One comes in and the game is tied at 11.

With the bases loaded, SR changes pitchers again. On around his third pitch, he nails the lefty in the batter's box. Game over.

Samuel Asbill pitched a nice game. Went six innings and got the win.

ER hosts Uwharrie Tuesday night. Should be another roller coaster of a game......
