igood.im not bashing Burns. I'm a Burns fan and a Pryor fan. Ive known Pryor since middle school when I coached against him in travel baseball; which he also is good at. Hes a great kid and I wish him the best of luck and Burns but I gotta go with the conference.

Tra price, Sam Brady, Jake Soorus, ty Williams, and qb Landon beard. Will be key players 3 that will be making plays on both sides of the ball. Most speed North has ever had and lineman are big, strong and quick. Our option spreads the ball out so no crazy numbers to look.. not to mention guys rarely played much past a half. The way the season has been going.. at least 1 of the 4 has a very strong night.. and another one or two have solid nights. I see that as a huge positive.. there is not one to key on... if you do, the others will eat you up.
That’s very true. Beard, Williams and Soorus are all really good and equally capable of beating you. And Brady and Whitley are very good, tall receivers. Can’t wait to see this matchup.
Yea.. forgot Whitley.. he’s been making some amazing catches lately. Tall athletic kid.. for you baseball fans, he’ll be chucking 90+ this spring too!
I understand North Lincoln has size, speed & REALLY GOOD players... But understand that Burns does too... Pryor gets all the talk and attention, but he isn't Burns alone... Burns has great players that will hit you in the mouth & great speed on both sides of the ball.. I said before, North Lincoln will most likely be the 3rd or 4th best team Burns has played behind Shelby, Crest & Kings Mountain.. Burns WILL BE the best team North Lincoln has seen all year... That doesn't mean Burns will win, but it means something

I’m not praising Lincoln County football. Just get tired of hearing about the almighty Cleveland County, when in reality 1-2 teams having been carrying the county forever.

That’s usually the way it works with the option though and that’s why a lot of times people don’t defend it well. Athletes only do so much if they aren’t put in the right spot. Defending the option is in the brain, it’s sticking to your man and hitting him in the mouth even if he doesn’t have the ball and knowing your brother beside you is going to do the same to his. Burns defense is going to have to get some stops and get off the field to keep them fresh and not just drain them. That’s the dagger with the option is you think you’re doing good and then it just takes that one play and they are gone. I personally worry most about burns handling the defensive front....but the boys have really started opening up some big holes of recent and it only takes a crease for Kujuan. I think we’re up to the task and considered the “underdog” in this match up and I like it. I expect Friday to be a great game!
Bazzle led the 2001 Newton-Conover team to a state runner up position against SW Onslow as well.

Cheerduck, I recall Newton-Conover missing an extra point which I’m thinking was the difference in that game.
Don't know much about Burns other than what has been said about RB. Seems to be a beast. But I've looked at common opponents, etc. and again, I don't think Burns brings anything to the table that tells me they are going to challenge NL and the way they have been playing all year.

Love the optimism.. I see a dog fight. Favored or underdog really doesn’t matter. We got a tall task in stopping their run... but they will be faced with the same problem. Both teams capable of winning this game as both have strong D’s. Who wants it more.. you’re gonna have to earn this one boys! Go get em! Go North!
Barring any injuries, we will definitely score more than 16 and we won't get beat that badly.
Keep on thinking that way and you will be very disappointed Friday night. Pryor is a very special player. I think Shelby did pretty god job containing Pryor and he still gained 160 yards. Burns has lost only two games to Shelby and Kings Mtn. and both are still playing. If your team thinks the way you do it will be a long night Friday. No way you hold Burns to 16 points. A Shelby fan here who has much respect for Burns.
I have nothing to do with NL's team....and you are comparing Burns on what they have done with/vs. Shelby like that is the only comparison. They beat Sout Point by 2. WL beat South point by 9 and NL beat WL, which was a rivalry and big game for both by 2-3 TD's. And I think WL is a really good, overlooked team as well. I hope it is a good game and I hope the RB is as advertised, but to say Burns is good because of what they did or didn't do vs. Shelby is stupid. And last I checked, this is an opinion board, meaning I can have an opinion just like you.
West Lincoln also lost to Newton Conover, a team Burns blew off the field, since you’re comparing scores.
If North cleans up a little bit of sloppiness last couple weeks they should be fine. If they don’t I think it’s gonna come down to the end.

Not comparing scores that means nothing. have seen Burns play this year so it is first hand knowledge. Pryor may be the best back in North Carolina and if he were a little bigger he would be getting offers from big time schools. Have followed high school football for many years and he is one of the best I have seen.
So we can compare scores all day; it doesn't matter. What it comes down to is a field full of 16, 17 and 18 year old kids; that on any given day can have bad day or the best day of thier life. I think the problem is that the Cleveland County faithful throw out these predictions as if North and West arent worthy of gracing the same field with them; hey Shelby is a dynasty and very rarely has to worry about losing and Burns is a little sore that they lost to them and wants a rematch. I get it but Ive seen North, I've watched hours of game film through hudl on Burns and Shelby. Like ive said a million times before us West Lincoln don't match the athleticism of Burns or Shelby or North for that matter but anything can happen. Pryor has a bad night; not saying Burns don't have other athletes, but if he does what you have won't stack up to North Lincoln. Pryor is on its an uphill battle for North. North has one bad possession it may be Katy bar the door. Like with us, Bess has a bad; we get pressure to him and affect his throwing game then it may be closre than anyone thinks. Same for us; Shelby shuts our backs down it may be a bad night for us. With teenagers you never know what ya gonna get. Good luck to all this Friday. West Lincoln will go home winners Friday night no matter what happens.
According to max preps stats NL has had 19 total interceptions this year. The NL secondary is very talented.
while we are talking about common opponents...Newton Conover's coaching staff said that they thought Burns was much better than NL based off film...until they played North. They said North was much tougher than Burns.
West I agree 100% with the four teams left anything can happen. All four teams are high quality teams but two have to go home after Friday night. I make no predictions but know all four will come ready to play and for someone to predict 42-14 Burns loss is beyond me. Like I said earlier I am a Shelby fan who has much respect for Burns.
Yeah I don’t see this being a 28 point game either way. I’m thinking more like 35-28. NL is really good and they usually execute very well. I’ve only seen some highlights of Burns and they look the part too. This should be very competitive. I think NL’s defense is good but it’s been a while since they were challenged. They’ll have to tackle well to win this one.
Agreed, if Burns loses by that much if at all, then something went wrong. I may be totally wrong but I think the Burns/North game could go either way. Our game could go south real quick if West lets it. I know what caliber of team Shelby is but some just throw out predictions based on pride in the program; understandable. Some may say we don't deserve to be in this situation because of our history but we have stepped up when we had to this year and earned our spot so far. If we lose big; sure we will be upset just like any team at this point. Some have said Shelby had it easy; well thats the perks of finishing number 1. I try to keep in mind that these kids are out there providing Friday night entertainment for us. I'm happy with whatever outcome as long as they give it thier all.
No matter what happens Friday night West should be very proud. I assure you Shelby is not taking West lightly. In the third round any team is capable of winning.

We packed the away side at Hibriten (not saying much) and had probably 100+ standing around the track. I'm not sure what size NL's visiting side is though.
NL's visitor side seats 750 from what I've been told. Pisgah filled it up and only had about 10-15 people in the standing overflow section from what I could see.
Burns filled up the Shelby visitors side. I don't know how many it holds but was completely full and overflow to the banks.
I think common opponents don’t mean much. Never know which team shows up each night...it’s high school kids. There will be mistakes made, there will be bad calls and there will be somebody hang up the pads after Friday night. I don’t think Burns has seen a team that will run their offense the way NL will run theirs and i don’t think NL has seen a team quite like burns. I think it makes for a good game!
